  • Just a quick run through of how to install a dash cam. In this instance, I'm putting in the VIOFO A119 v3. I have put this in another vehicle and was impressed with the video and the ease of installation. The included user manual does lack detail since you could put this in any vehicle and they're all going to be different. This is an install in a 2020 GMC Sierra 1500. As always, thanks for watching and let me know if you have any questions or comments!

Great vid, I followed a similar method and you helped me come up with a solution I wanted for my Forester. Didn't want to mess with hard wiring + sticking a box in my fuse box. Running the cable underneath looks really clean and apart from the small wire exposed near the infotainment, this is a pretty simple and elegant setup.

Someday a car designer will have an epiphany & suggest putting a port right where we plug in dash cameras. >BINGO!< Right next to the inside rear view mirror. I got a dash camera almost 9 years ago & halfway through running the cable from the top of the windshield to inside the center console between the seats I quit & put it in my junk pile.

There are two small covers that need to be pulled off to access the screws behind them that hold the plastic pillar cover in place.
