You did a good job explaining about the pens. If you don't have a pallet thing for the markers, a white plate works great. I use my white plate for markers, watercolor crayons, etc.

Have you tried the dot tip markers Kuretake Zig brought out? They’re great for creating unique shapes in art pieces and for colouring. 🎨

I do have one. They don't come in many colors though. I think only 12.
