Greatful Dead LSD ... my friend told me to drink O.J. So I did..... I became a Bartender on acid . It was my cosmetology graduation.
Nah, I'm good. The show has gone downhill since Ari stopped/ CC stole what he had built.

I
Even while doing stand-up, he still wraps the cord around his hand like he’s screaming at the crowd in Black Flag 😂😂
NOBODY'S GETTING THE MIC!
Yeah, first thing I noticed too. Intensity always.
Thank Henry some things never change feelings the same, topics VERY different retro reflections because we can't believe we are still alive.
@@mattasticmattattack8546 exactly!
I love that as he gets into to the story he starts bending his knees and rocking back and forth like he did back in the angry days.
My new motto:
Unnervingly polite; Capably violent
Sounds like my fucking cat lol
Not a bad way to be! As a woman, I'm often underestimated, even by those who should know better. It's also a good response to a question I've been asked in job interviews: "Can you describe yourself in 3 words or less?"
They never expect it, and it points to self respect while demanding the same from others.
@@MsTaxidriver69 its 4 words tho
*incapably violent
Desperately unoriginal.
The worst thing you can say when trying a drug for the first time; "I'm not feeling anything. Maybe I need to take some more."
I did that with vodka and ended up taking 12 shots, a shot of rum, and a whiteclaw in 30 minutes. I'm 15
@@interceptor-sc
Good start kid!
We know the ending wasn't happy but hey, good start.
"You can always take more, never less"
@@interceptor-sc I'm guessing that was shit vodka, also remember to stand up once in awhile next time
"This edible ain't shit. Gimme another one"
Would love to see a Henry Rollins comedy special called, "Unnervingly Polite; Capably Violent". Because this segment was just great
“Are you a cop?”
“NEVER.”
I love that oh my god. 😂
in film, he seems to be almost typecast as a cop, though. lol
@@bradleydefoor8628 he played a white supremacists on Sons of Anarchy.
Night Man it was SO weird seeing him play that character but he did it SO well
@@nightman4142 oh damn I'll have to check that out out thanks man
No one should be a cop. It's literally their job to be a threat to good people, over broken, unfair laws. We can protect ourselves, our properties, and each other. The police & government, are just a big, fancy, parasitic gang, degrading, ruining and taking innocent lives & businesses, everyday, to benefit themselves, and those who bribe them through lobbying.
Cops risking their lives, to ruin and take others, over rules some assholes made up, assholes safe & sound far away, while the police robs, kidnaps, and kills people on their behalf. Private Security guards are more Honorable & efficient, then the police.
Henry Rollins - that guy is realy intense -
How Fcking intense do you have to be for Rollins to call you too intense
@@thetisdeamon777 wut
He ran away when she took him home. I know he bitched out because she did heroin, Rollins was never punk just punk ass... He never sniffed glue.
@@thetisdeamon777 loool
Exactly what i was thinking, rollins is pretty intense.
..... riding miniature ponies and painting flowers intense.....
i joke, i joke......
but seriously by the way he talks, is probably like me, and i think druggies and gangstas from southeast texas are docile as fuck...... infact, i'm friends with a lot of them....
Who else demands another This Is Not Happening with Henry Rollins?

Kyle Lococo Drue tat.
I love how he says "by golly". Henry Rollins seems like such a gentle soul.
Lol maybe nowadays
He used to be super edgy, lile he was emulating the guy he was talking about (probably chuck duchowski), he got in fights regularly in black flag.
lol great comment
He's not.
good to see henry still holds a microphone that way.
drunkjim420 It's probably out of habit so he can't drop it when he's jumping about.
What way? Like he's going to use it to bash in a childs skull?
It's to prevent wear on the cable.
You mean like he’s strangling the life out if it with its own umbilical cord? Hahaha

*Tell Her About Death*
If thats not a bestselling book title I don't know what is.
It really does sound like one
"Tell Her About Death"...
It also has potential as an epitaph. Wouldn't YOU chuckle if you read that on someone's headstone?
@@MsTaxidriver69 I'd be mind-blown trying to decipher it. A kind of somber feeling would sweep over me.

THIS is the best way to describe what acid is like.
I absolutely agree.
I’ve tripped acid more times than I can count, and I can’t even begin to tell you what I saw and though.. It is unreal how a drug can make you feel that way. 100 thoughts at once. Yes, everything happens within one second lol
I suspect it is an apt definition, such that I don't think I ever need to do it.
Lost the keys? Blame Hoffman
@@NickNicometi you have no idea.
I worked security at a show where Rollins was an opening act. I was in the pit. he leaned over me and a few drops of sweat fell on me. a punk rock baptism, you might say.
That's fuckin great bro! Lol
Fuck yes.
Jason Bean you're gay lol 😂 jk that's badass
Creepiest, gayest comment
since Jerry Sandusky texted Jared Vogel.
That's kinda disgusting.
Henry Rollins: activist, punk rock legend...and surprisingly great stand-up comic!
as well as author, actor and painter.
Can we just talk about how he hasn’t aged in like 25 years
He looked ridiculously old in the 2011 Nardwuar interview and he looks 10 years younger than that here.
It finally happened in the last couple of years, but he is still amazing
His hair went white. That's about it.
Clean living
Son Shawnzy He gets better looking with age. He also smiles more now than ever and that really changes a person, especially an uptight, cynical asshole from a punk band in the 80’s.
i love how his body language is still like he’s performing on stage like the way he holds his mic and takes breaths whenever he can( probably a habit from taking breaths after screaming lol )
someone needs to animate this
Evan Riser no
Yes
fuck yeah
YES
Oh my yes.
I took liquid LSD 25, in late 70's, and I remember (or I was told) that I stared at my hand against a wall for 4 hours. My hand was transparent. I could see the bones. There was a tiny Mayberrry style town in the back of my hand, and I was watching the mundane goings on of people going to the bank, the post office, shopping, etc...
That's so sick, damn
Do you still wonder sometimes, how they're doing? I sure would tbh
There still there look closely

-Ok thank you
Henry Rollins is an awesome speaker, musician, and one of my favorite people of all time.
You have a shockingly short timeline.
Waste of time
The time it took me to read the three words you typed - I'll never get it back.
Awesome musican?
Yup. I love that cat.
"keep your mouth shut, and your eyes and ears open"
That's a lesson I've heard a few times on the street from different people. It's a good lesson that will allow you to learn a lot and learn quick, but only once you can keep your own pride in check.
i kept my mouth open but what people didn't realize is that's how i also keep my eyes and ears open as well. a little misdirection as if i'm oblivious, but i'm definitely scoping out my surroundings
Only if you can keep your pride in check
Hypervigilence is a tactic you learn to keep safe when you're living in a dangerous environment. Like home.
Absolutely.
This man. I am in this extreme metal scene in our city and I kept my mouth shut mostly, just listening and scouting my surroundings which enables me to piece out all the issues and happenings from each bands involved. Majority of the people here are like veterans and in their 30s 40s, and here I am a 22 yr old guy that struggle to hold a conversation just because I don't want to be that wise guy.
“Unnervingly polite but also capably violent” one of the greatest quotes ever
I didn't realize Tyler Durden was in Black Flag with Henry
god damn this could be tyler irl
LOL
Chuck Dukowski is the man's name. Phenomenal bass player. Killer intellect. He's right.
Because he’s not supposed to talk about it.

+Nicholas Molinaro henry has been doing what one could categorize as stand up comedy for like a decade or more. hes quite good.
i like his acting too. very underrated person as well as entertainer
best story I've heard
his angry logic is always funny
"I don't want to be in a room with heroin because I'm too hiiiigh on acid to deal with it." LOL
It's a mood tho. It's like being in the room with a literal demon.
Yeah... no effing way man. That would make me go into a panic like no other.
2:37 "I'm unnervingly polite, but I'm also capably violent."
With that attitude, I'm certain Henry Rollins would have gotten along perfectly with the great Theodore Roosevelt Jr. (i.e. they would have been bros for life). :-)
The Roosevelt family was big on opium.
Such an amazing wordsmith. A simply story of LSD told by a master storyteller.
I genuinely admire and got love for that cat. I am 46 Black Flag was the shit when i was a teen. I worked at a bookstore in Chicago in my 20's when he had the Rollins Band and we sold books by mostly Black Authors but on this lil roundabout thingy we had the poems of Henry Rollins. He is a great Artist.
I think he might be one of the only people who say "I don't see colour!" and means it.
Wassup bud, you turn 50 this year. Me too my man
“Before the streets become rivers of blood...let’s get down.”
This is great.
He channels his punk-rock dynamics in his delivery and I love it.

And the most terrifying.
Woah.. read this as he said it.
Also, very true.
This brilliant human has gotten me through some of the ugliest self isolation and personal reflection. I may not have turned into the humble man I am were it not for his words and writings.
I interviewed Rollins when I was in college. By far one of the most focused and intense people I’ve ever met. Great guy, btw.
"I'm very polite, and that throws people off." Rollins is like a Canadian stuck inside a Manchunian's body.
Hahaha he actually reminds me of Morrisy a bit.

Him and Morrisey should get together and record a duet.
He invited me to his bday party when I was in Chicago once for a book conference...awesome guy and this even raises my respect for him further. Amazing story-teller.
"i'm gonna live in a bruce springsteen lyrics for the rest of my life!" genious
3:30 "intellectual terrorist" Such a fascinating term used to describe someone.
I once thought that one of the consistent qualities amongst my best teachers is that they antagonize convention; his term gave me the same vibe
"I can only afford uh, a couple of ounces..." I love Henry!
Guud yuud jyuud, I love it! I love it.
He’s so attractive and funny and polite. Clearly has a dark mind but works well
I'm glad there's a Henry Rollins in my life. I needed him. He's one to look up to. He inspires everywhere he goes. His voice is one of the few that I've listened to in life. There was the voice of my mother when she was alive, the voice of my pastor now, voices of different friends and family, and then there's Henry's voice. What a life he has lived.
Run The Jewels song playing on the background of Henry Rollins doing stand up, what a time to be alive
That is the most epic story i've heard yet in my lifetime... and I strongly suspect it's just because Henry Rollins told it. It's just amazing how he hooks you into a story.
Santiago Ferrari good for you but we clicked on the video to hear about his trip not yours.
You should listen to some Norm MacDonald stories.
Like Joey Diaz
He started doing the spoken word thing a decade ago. Check it out, he's got more insane stories and also really knows the history of punk in the 80's L.A. scene. Have fun!
“It was incredible! But I think I’m still an asshole!”
I feel like this is how psychedelics always make me feel. It’s bittersweet for sure😂
try a bigger dose next time ;)
I must see Henry before he stops doing stand up, I'm 18 so there's been minimal chance I could see him up until now.. But my uncle and grandfather did go to one of his shows in Melbourne and from what I've been told he is a spectacular human being
Hopefully you've seen him by now.
Can you imagine him angry? "Well... golly... I'm gonna go ahead and break your face now!"
"It was like being in a band with Col. Kurtz from Apocalypse Now"
I love this guy! I've been a fan since the Rollins Band days. He's super smart, funny, eloquent, and handsome. He's also very intense! This is now one of my favorite quotes from anybody ever:
"I'm unnervingly polite but I'm also capably violent.” - Henry Rollins
And yes, he is indeed still an asshole. ;-)

Henry Rollins is a genius! Storytelling is one of his many superpowers!!!
He really is a fantastic speaker, his confidence and poise is admirable
Henry Rollins is the truck that went through its brakes, it’s a 20% incline, there’s no brake zone and he’s loaded with something that will explode on contact with air.

Henry Rollins is a top bloke.
I really enjoy the way he draws in the audience, gripping from an emotional level as he propels through the story.
I was there, right along side of him as he re-lived every detail, with a genuine and honest recollection of one crazy experience.
I was hooked from start to finish.
I really felt the intensity throughout the story.
Great clip.
It feels at the beginning that he has done too many legit Ted talk type presentations...then he remembers...it's a comedy.
CHUCK: Henry?
HENRY: Yes?
CHUCK: One day, God will die. We will write the song and he will kill himself. And we will celebrate...with plantains and mescaline.
HENRY: ...Yes...sir.
It was Chuck? I was thinking Greg. Chuck makes sense though. What do I know, by the time Black Flag came to my town, Kira had replaced Chuck.
Yeah, I figured it was Chuck too.
funzjag Considering Rollins sided with Keith Morris and FLAG, I doubt he’d say anything positive about Greg.
@@onedropmtg6038 Fill me in, was it something about royalties on old songs or something? Johnny Bob Goldstein cowrote the early tunes! I don't know about any Keith! (I'm joking, I know that JBG was a pseudonym for Morris.) But how about that Henery Garfield guy??!!?? 🤯

Everyone “learns the ropes” from someone.
He wasn't always so buff. He was actually a pretty slim dude once upon a time.
The mentor guy has to be Chuck Dukowski.
"I'm gonna live the rest of my life in a Bruce Springsteen lyric" I feel that
I just got to know him because of "He never died" and I cannot get enough of him!
So original... even if you do not agree with him he s awesome to listen to
this was way better than what i initially thought it would be. funny dude.

I guess the guy Henry is talking about is Chuck Dukowski
+suhijo That's what I assume.
+suhijo or Robo?
+Jacob Throne Nah, definitely Dukowski. He was the real leader in the early days. Ginn couldn't handle him anymore - that's why he left.

That had to be the most incredible acid story I've ever heard. Have you ever seen a pet llama being walked down he street while on acid? :D
A random memory that sprang to mind is walking through the city in the early hours of the morning off my face and a big crate of crayfish had spilled out onto the pavement... very bizarre to look at!! Never seen a lama crossing the road on acid but it was mad watching people taking hot air balloon rides at a festival in Portugal whilst I was tripping... pretty sure most of them were tripping too, imagine that! I didn't feel like taking a hot air balloon ride on acid.
OMG, not to mention the fact that I was glued to my chair and hanging on every word I also almost laughed myself out of my seat. Thank you and a big thanks to Mr. Rollins

Me in one sentence.. NICE!!
I like that, because a) that's me, too; and b) I hate impoliteness: think it's a sort of un-called for aggressive act.
Henry was actually a total cunt. just look up an interview he did with a kid, he was a total asshole to that kid for no reason
If it's the one I think you are talking about, the kid was antagonizing them before and was trying to be a punk purists(shit like "long hair is for hippies"). Most of it wasn't in that video but Henry didn't treat him like a kid and met his attitude at full grown man levels.
