You are a delight! Having so much fun catching up on your videos. (I’m starting at the very beginning.)
I have been wondering when you’d mention Mapp and Lucia…. So fun - and perfect - that it was in this episode. Hysterical books.

Yes! Rah, Rah! Rah! For Miss Read. I have several and a Christmas book of hers is comforting. For years I had them in arm's reach. Since I've moved they' ve burrowed misplaced; endearing Reads.

This was another wonderful video, Miranda. I have read about half these books and agree with you wholeheartedly and can't wait to read the rest. I have been reading the post-war books in Angela Thirkell's Barsetshire books, so I'll soon have read the whole series. They're wonderful. I have been re-reading Elizabeth Enright's Melendy books (The Saturdays, The Four-Story Mistake, etc.) and the cozy mysteries by Susan Wittig Albert about Beatrix Potter. I just started reading The Morning Gift by Eva Ibbotson, and I love it so far.

A lot of my favorites! Glad to hear some new titles too. Another of my favorites is “Understood Betsy” by Dorothy Canfield. It’s a children’s book and easy to find in the public domain as an ebook. Have you ever read it?

    • @MirandaMills

Yes, I read Understood Betsy when I was little and I still love it! I also enjoy her writing for adults too - 'The Home-Maker' is a favourite of mine xxx

Your channel is not a carbon copy of every other book channel, you taste is very individual, which I love. 🌻❤️🐻👏🏼

An excellent list to stimulate our reading Miranda and much needed too as you have hit the nail on the head about concentration levels. I adore Map & Lucia and have the series from television on DVD, the costumes are just divine and so beautifully made which is a real tribute to the costume designers. I loved it when you said you liked to read Ronald Blythe's writing before sleep which is exactly what I do and have just finished and enjoyed Stour Seasons. He lives in a village not too far from me and he once came, many years ago, to give an address at a special Sung Evensong in our church. Thank you and it is so lovely to have you keeping our spirits up with your lovely videos. Keep well, Teresa 📚💕

All of these sound just delightful. Cozy reads are the perfect antidote to these unsettled days. I'm finishing up a re-read of Emma. Patricia Wentworth is next on my list, per your recommendation. Miss Marple is my absolute favorite detective, too. I'm so excited to learn about these short stories and can't wait to curl up with them. How is it that even quarantine time does not seem to allow for enough reading hours!

I love Agatha Christie novels, my favourites are Death on the Nile and Murder on the Orient Express. But áll of them are fine for me, just reread Mrs. Mcginty is dead which features Mrs. Oliver, the alterego of Mrs Christie herself! She's one of the most hilarious yet believable artist character in books I've ever met.

    • @MirandaMills

Oh the Winifred Peck looks really interesting. I've just ordered it on kindle. Am intrigued as it is set in Manchester where I am ! I have also got The Solitary Summer by Elizabeth Von Arnim which I haven't read before. I hadn't realised before there was a sequel to Elizabeth and her German Garden. I agree that My Family and Other Animals is a perfect book to read at this time. You can't help but laugh out loud reading it. I have been reading the Sadler's Wells series by Lorna Hill this last week for the first time and they are just charming. I'm just slightly put out as I managed to buy there first 12 of 14 in the series recently but don't have the last two so won't know how it ends! Surely an excuse to go book hunting when life goes back to normal!
