Some words about the project. All animations were rendered in 24K HDR and downconverted to 8K HDR for the Planetarium. The footage is so sharp that the first time we observed our 8K TV playing back the footage, is how hard was for the TV to solve all sharpness and resolution. Why 24K - 16K? Simply put after experimenting with 8K animations we found that rendering in higher resolutions and downconverting it back to 8K the picture looks better has more information and it looks sharper along with the HDR. Finally seeing the film on a big dome at the Planetarium in 24K - 8K is clearer than native 8K and the audiences are getting more immersed as a result.
The project took 3 months to render.

Info: The files are in TIF format and each still is over 1 GB. When you open the file it takes approximately 20 sec to see the full resolution on a M1 Pro MacBook Pro.

I have a big 4k flat panel but I happen to be watching this on a 7 yr old 1080p 42" Samsung. I'm amazed that 4k displays really well on this 1080p, even though it supposedly can't. A beautiful video. Thanks for posting!

I didn't even know that beyond 16k is possible. Awesome, looks great on a 4k monitor.
Human eye cant see more than that , and in 16K it is posdible the viewer will have some physical side effects like nauesea and feeling sick so there is no point 🤣

im running in 4k hdr off in firefox and 4k hdr on in edge, im getting more detail in firefox. and yes i had an expert set it up with an 800nit peak. can someone explain why this is ???

You posted this in youtube. Can youtube render this directly in 8k? I can only watch it in 4K.
Yes is in 8K on my Mac. So what CZcams told me you need to enable HDR on your operating system and then it gives you the 8K HDR Version. Also you need to watch it with chrome. On my Mac is by default in HDR and 8K is available.

Enable HDR and you can watch it in 8K. You need an 8K recent TV or your computer.

iPhone 14 Pro here it plays at 2160p HDR.
Sharp image but :
- flickering in 4K (sorry, I dont't have an 8K screen...) - but I rather think it is YT compression algorithm...
- 60FPS would have been much better (shaky image on travelings)
