I know Sam isn't the most popular manager we've ever had but I honestly think he was the right man for that time in our history, we got out the Championship at the first time of asking (just about) and he steadied us in the Premier League. He came at the right time, left at the right time and is part of the reason we're where we are now.

Now, if he had just cut out the belittling of our club while he did it…
Remember, “I thought Bobby Moore was a Fulham player” and “can anyone tell me what the West Ham Way is, is it losing?” Hippo head can kiss my bean bag.

He was the only man for the job at that time. Without him like it or not we may not have got out of that league. We definitely wouldn’t have got in Nolan who became vital to rebuilding. Never gonna be everyone’s favourite but in many ways he remains one of the most important managers we had and got results where needed to get us up and to keep us there. Has my respect.

That Championship season will always be one of my favourites as a West Ham supporter. It was just so much fun, it really brought the back the joy of supporting West Ham.

When we were relegated I was really worried we would keep dropping, we were in a mess. When I heard we were bringing Sam in it changed my outlook from dread to real hope, then he signed Kevin Nolan, I then started to feel we can do this now. The rest is history.

Nothing but fond memories of Big Sam and the job he did, getting us up first time of asking and keeping us up was so important with the stadium move on the horizon. Personally very grateful to him for his years with us and stabilising us the way he did. Thank you Sam ⚒️

Saw out his contract, one of our only managers not to be sacked. Did the job and laid a good foundation for Slav in our last season at Upton Park

You can say what you like about this man's style of play but you can't deny that he IS very good at his job : Promoting teams from the championship and also keeping teams in the Premier League getting them out of trouble, that's what he does and he's probably one of the best if not THE best at that so I think he did a brilliant job with us here at West Ham 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Thank you Sam 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

After the disaster of relegation with Grant we needed big Sam, I really enjoyed that season. We had strong characters with Nolan who were leaders. I remember that game away at Forest where we completely outplayed them….winning away was not West Ham! He was the right fit for the Club and Wembley was amazing. Thank you Big Sam

Honestly think Allardyce would have got us top 7 football with a bit of time. Only complaint was his style could be dull at times but he deserves a lot of credit.

Allidici is lying to himself and everyone else when he claims he played teams to win. Important manager that did a crucial job but outstayed his welcome by 18 months.
