Harbor Freight Flex Shaft Hanging Power Carver Setup and Review - Jak na to + styl
Nice review. I have had one of these on my tool wish list for quite a while. I have a suggestion for chuck keys. I keep my drill press chuck key handy with a CB microphone retractor. Clip the retractor body to the hanger and make a cow hitch from the loop end coming from the retractor body. Put the chuck key through the cow hitch and cinch it tight. Ready when you need it, out of the way when you don''t.

Nice demonstration. Thanks.

@@snapwholeharborfreightreviews I just bought one yesterday using a 20% off coupon on the $44.99 price, so I got it for $35.00. It has a new style foot pedal that works well and the handle doesn't get hot at all. Loving it so far.
@@watermain48 I really like mine, it led me to get into power carving, I'll post some videos in my woodcarving channel of using it to power carve, its great - I'll post the links here when I get the videos uploaded - Thanks for subscribing
Thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed the video - Thanks for Subscribing!
i hook a length of mechanic wire to the key and wind the other end to the hanger on top. i use a quick release c clamp to hang it wherever i want. lol nice stiff hose 😄

I made a nice little table style mount essentially I built a stand high enough to wear I mounted the bracket to it and or can use a screw hook anything really. I actually designed one and 3D printed it with a hollow base filled it with sand works amazing. Going to be picking one up tomorrow wanted to check it out watching a couple videos Is it still working good for you No issues with it? Thanks for the video take care.

All of the connections on this are compatible with foredom flex shaft parts. Recommended to get the foredom footpedal, its much more accurate and will allow you to access the lower speeds.
watch for an upcoming video, HF sells an upgraded foot switch that has better control - how old is your HF model? Thanks for subscribing!
Agree, the pedal is terrible. Buy a Foredom pedal and instantly get a lot more control.
Something like a rolling IV stand would allow you move the power unit from one spot to another.
that is a good idea, I've setup a carving workstation and hand it on the call, a little noisy but it works - thanks for subscribing!
I use a zip-tie to attach my chucks to the power cord so I don't misplace them. 😁

Would this be good for finer detail work to finish up on sign making?
that would work great, but would depend on the tips (bits) used, the tool is powerful enough for the job - thanks for subscribing!
Do you know if there is a 90 degree angle attachment available for this?
It has an adjustable chuck to hold attachments, any attachment that has a 5/32 shank will fit this power carver, ,thanks for subscribing!
Nice review. How did you get it for $29, it now $50 at my HF store?
I had an ITC coupon when I bought it, I usually have an ITC coupon or a super coupon for everything I buy - or a 20% off coupon - Thanks for Subscribing
Yep, mine was 29 also with the flex shaft
Get some small magnets at Harbor Freight for $2.99 and super glue one or two to the motor body and put the chuck key there with the tool. I do this for all my things that uses a chuck key.
I use the magnets off the previous free magnetic parts dish, I have dozens of those dishes - thanks for subscribing!
Was thinking about getting one of these. Another video on CZcams seemed to indicate that both the motor housing and the foot pedal are plastic. Can you confirm whether these parts are plastic or metal? Thanks.
The peddle and the casing of the motor is plastic - the peddle could break if abused, but the casing on motor I don't worry about breaking, I've dropped it a few time and its been fine, and 99% of the time, its hanging on its hook - Hope this helps - Thanks for Subscribing!
Will it accept Fordom attachments?
I bought this one, not the fordom, so I can't comment to much on that, but if the fordom accepts 3/32 and 1/2 bit, those are interchangeable - thanks for subscribing!
Get the extended warranty and take it back when you lose the key and they will give you a new machine. Their warranty is the best anywhere.
thank for subscribing!
I lost my chuck key idk how to replace it
HF sells a 4 way chuck key - its a little ackward to use but it works - thanks for subscribing!
@@snapwholeharborfreightreviews the one i bought from them arr all to big
It appears HF is dropping this item. 😕
HF is in the middle of a major tool line adjustment, it is possible you will see this tool come back with a different name, probably bauer, they are slowly shutting down the chicago electric line, along with drill master, very bad if they drop this item, not a lot of no-expensive alternatives - thanks for subscribing!
I have this exact tool. We lost the chuck key. Could not buy a replacement. I don’t recommend buying this product.
why do you not recommend it? HF sells a universal key replacement that should fits this device - the key has 4 different sizes - thanks for subscribing!
Looks like the $500.00 dollar one
works just like the 500 dollar one too, I use it for power carving and really like it - thanks for subscribing!
Why u never answer questions from your subscribers?
part of the time I try to respond, youtube does not post it, once that happens, I wait for the weekend to catch up on messages
@@snapwholeharborfreightreviews I use the tool in rock carving. Not bad. But the handpiece needs replacing. Can you get replacement parts on Harbor Freight tools ?
@@brud54 the web site does not list any replacement parts, I recommend calling harbor freight customer service to confirm - I'll take the handpiece apart and try to figure out options, going from memory, I don't think there are many options, give me a few days......
