    He actually gave an immensely powerful speech about ending war, because among things, the Pianist was a war movie so obviously it was topical. Surprised that you didn't mention that and made it sound like Brody, one of the most politically active people in Hollywood, was being either selfish or just opportunistic.

      @@justafatuiharbinger while that is true Hollywood has impacted American culture not only inside the country but worldwide. Such a move wouldn’t have ended the war, but it would’ve allowed more people to speak more critically of it, which many didn’t do so even back then. The Oscar’s has been used time and time again as a platform for people to state their views, while it doesn’t change the world, in one way or another it does move the needle to a different direction a bit.

      I don’t think it was som much about him just having his own interests in mind as he knew it wouldn’t do anything. And Nicholson thinking it would his ridiculous. He was more than welcome to make a statement by boycotting the oscars. How would that help? The oscars have nothing to do with the war the academy can’t stop the war. The media would’ve reported on it a couple days and then that’s it. Impact over. I wouldn’t have done it either. Now if there was a realistic chance it would make a true impact I would have but there wasn’t. Every single person could have refused to go and other than people being like “damn” nothing would’ve changed. If people, men, women, BABIES killed by the atrocities of war isn’t enough to stop a war neither is 5 actors skipping out in a narcissistic ceremony where the Hollywood elite sit around figuratively jerking each other off. Let’s be real.

Sure saying a prayer is not much, but I still won't say it cos I don't believe it would ever work. Brody didn't boycott the Oscars cos he didn't believe the boycott messaging would ever work. That, and his desire for self-preservation, which is quite understandable.

    That movie is one of the most graphic movies that depicts the world war and the Jewish disaster. It was a great film. But if you never seen it and want to make sure you have a strong mind that day. It’s extremely graphic.

    Also the assault of the 12 year old girl by Roman Polanski happened at Jack Nicholson’s house.

      Raise awareness? It's all that was on the news and tv shows!!!!! The damn thing wasn't done in secret!!!!! I also don't bow down to rich elite celebrities who think they have the right to tell me what to do and how to feel!!!!! The Oscars keep going down every year because hollyweird hasn't figured out regular people don't give a 🐀@$$ about anything they have to say in regards to how we should live, what we should support, and who we should vote for!!!!! Let them be stunning and brave to each other over their popularity trophies...I don't care!!!!! This is a group of people who had the homeless camps moved so they could have their ceremony and give out Oscars for a movie about the homeless!!!!!! Talk about a lack of self awareness and don't get me started about how they get to flaunt the rules and be mask less during mandatory masks mandates but those working for them had to be masked!!!!!
