Why are shiny Pokemon the colors that they are? Why are some of them cool, but others terrible? What was Game Freak thinking? Well today we begin our journey, the journey of explaining why EVERY shiny Pokemon is the color that it is. Let's start with the Pokemon introduced in Pokemon Sun and Moon. Gen 7 Pokemon.

I love how ignored the fact that shiny Meltan’s and Melemetal’s wire tails are blue, and blue is the rarest color of wire to be used, while the normal ones have red wires which are one the most common color of wire.
This is clearly made before seeing Wire Boi's Shiny Segment (Don't know how to spell it's name, so sorry for that).😂😂

Maybe the black and white can also be referencing old horror movies

Jangmo-o has a heart-like crest on its head. My hypothesis is they made that pink to reflect the more common color hearts are thought of as and didn’t really think about whether or not it would work with the rest.

The white + *pink* just feels like its meant to read as soft to me. and combined with the "sleepy cuddly teddybear" idea of the pokemon, a pillow just makes too much thematic sense

Something not a lot of people mention is that Shiny Palossand also looks like a pile of ash, referencing cremated bodies because of that Ghost-Type.
That cremated body reference is probably unintentional, but the black sand beach thing is way cooler anyways.

I’ve been playing since gen 1. Yea I know shinies came out in gen 2. Anyway, I’ve only gotten two shinies. A Machop in platinum and a shiny galarian yamask in shield. (Outside of pogo of course)
I think I got two shinies ever, I don't quite remember what they were though, I have lost the games they were on, and I encountered one of them while hunting one of the legendary birds in platinum. The other one I think I just ran into.
I got all mine in Ultra Moon, though, 4/6 of them from Ultra Space, the Gumshoos, I got from Poni Grove, which was completely accidental lol. I was just going to find Chansey, I ran into it.
I thought silvally's shiny was meant to resemble Arceus' shiny.

According to Bulbapedia Magearna's shiny coloration has it become a steel grey color with its eyes and soul-heart staying their same colors. As such the Magearna that Lillie attempts to fix and befriends in the anime is actually a Shiny Magearna.
Later confirmed in HOME that it is indeed Shiny Magearna, which is funny for this means this is another moment where the anime invents something that gets carried into the games (Ash-Greninja is the top-of-head example)

Except the green isn't liquid. The red is, you can tell by the bubbles in it. There's no bubbles in the green area, signifying that it's the color of its flesh, not its food.

I would make a couple of counterpoints to two of your explanations:
- Silvally's shiny could also easily be a reference to Shiny Arceus, which was also gold colored.
- Shiny Mimikyu is likely meant to evoke the original 8-bit monochrome Game Boy games (when not played on the original lime green screen at least), especially since Sun/Moon were the 20th anniversary games.

Silvally's shiny is really just mimicking arceus' shiny since that's good.
Also lots of Hawaiian beaches have sands in many different colors, including black. Honestly wondering why Sandyghast and Pallosand didn’t get the whole Florges/Alcremie treatment in this Gen. Would have been great for collection depth and make perfect sense.
My first ever shiny was a Silcoon in Ruby. I remember seeing that sparkle, which at that point in time I had never seen a shiny before. I just remember being excited beyond belief and did everything I could to catch it and I did catch it
Guzzlord is probably based on the theoretical white hole, if the regular version is based on a black hole. It's theorized that if a black hole is a point where nothing can escape, not even light, that a white hole would be the reverse: light would constantly pour from it and nothing could get in. Some people hypothesize that if you go through a black hole you come out of a white hole in a different universe, which would work well with the theme of the games.

Sounds like Solgaleo wants demands for PMCs to skyrocket, like the good ol days after 9/11.
Fun fact about Vikavolt: it's also a reference to the Vic Viper space ship from the Gradius series. The looks, the names, and its description are all similar. The shiny doubles as a reference to another space ship in the same series: the Jade Knight. It has the exact same color scheme. Furthermore, the animations from gen 7 and on of all of Vikavolt's best attacks look similar to attacks the various player space ships use in the Gradius series.
It's a wonderful reference that not many people catch, but I absolutely love the Gradius series, so seeing Vikavolt made my super happy!

Jangmo-o's shiny line is referencing the hoarding of heart scales, a coveted and collectable item in the Pokémon universe. It probably goes gold to symbolise the higher wealth and status compared to non-shiny jangmo-o. Although you can't sell heart scales for much, compared to nuggets of gold in the game, they ARE worth very exclusive services that money can't buy so in a way they're priceless, way above the worth normal currency can match.

for the pink in the Kommo-o line; I'd say its more likely to give a valentines aesthetic to Jangmo-o with the big heart shaped scale on its head, and the pink just carried over to the rest of the line despite it going horribly with the yellow.

Togedemaru is based on a hedgehog. Most hedgehogs are a Grey color often mixed with brown (some appear mostly brown but some can be very dark grey, likely what togedemaru is referencing.) Blonde hedgehogs are another color, and common among pet hedgehogs. Blondes can be anywhere from mostly white to very yellow-blonde. The quills of an Albino hedgehogs can also sometimes be an off-white, and appear more blonde.

My first shiny was an unknown and I thought it would evolve at some point so I trained it To level 100. So I had a lv100 shiny unknown (I think it had hp rock)

In the U.S., White is Neutral, Black is Live, and Copper (sometimes green) is ground.

Minior's shiny is actually that it absorbed mercury into itself, as each color is based on what metal is eaten before falling to earth. This is referenced in the Sun and Ultra Moon dex entries about the core
Marshadow's shiny was probably based on the fact that purple dye was rare in the past, and was very expensive.
