And in the 2021/2022 season, we drew against city twice because of two deflected goals off matip after shots from de bruyne. Matip is the reason we needed another CB in the summer, he is unreliable and his playstyle is all over the place at times. He constantly looks vulnerable and now after that own goal his confidence will be at an all time low which will cause him to make more mistakes in future games, so I think klopp should just start quansah if van dijk or konate are not fully fit or even Gomez when Trent is fit enough again to play in the RB position. Matip is not the answer anymore, we need a sturdy, reliable CB at the back who has good control of the ball when needed. No hate to Joel, he's been a warrior for us in the past few seasons, but we need to move on and that own goal just showed a player who can't keep his calm in tense situations which is what a club like Liverpool need.
