Thank you Eugene and Belinda for a very interesting and great episode...Please keep up your good work...One hour length or longer is appreciated ...Om Mani Padme Hum...
The running boy braked, let the bike pass and he dashed quickly to the right. The bike’s helmet showed only the left lane but he had already reached the right side.
Love this and thank you Eugene and Belinda! Can keep up with the 1 hour or long show, at least this side of SC housekeeping is light-hearted 👍🏼 Also jiayou to Belinda with narrating! Keep up with the positivity and openness to learning! 💪🏼
Just sharing: 1) Contrary to what was mentioned in the video, reborn dolls have been around since the 1990s. It started out as a hobby for doll collectors who wanted hyper real looking dolls. These are the babydoll collector type not the perverted dolls type. 😂 Remember Cabbage Patch Kids dolls? (Those who grew up in the 80s, will know this. If you dunno, can go ask Google.) It was essentially from collectors of such dolls that gave the rise to reborn dolls. As time went by and the skills and materials made reborns become more realistic, they eventually had a new group of collectors. Parents (especially mothers) who are mourning a child lost through death or miscarriage. Some reborn artists started taking custom orders to make the dolls as similar looking as the dead child. Or in miscarriages where the child has not developed an identity, reborn artists try to custom the dolls according to what the child may have looked like based on how the parents look. Alternatively, parents can choose from a reborn artist's existing range or work with them to create their own idea of how that child would've looked like. Some couples (or singles) have also been known to buy reborn dolls as a replacement child due to infertility or spouse loss (i.e. they didn't get a chance to have children while the spouse was alive). These dolls give them the opportunity to feel what they never could which is parenthood. (But of course, the reborn child doesn't grow. But there are artists who make slightly older baby reborns.) Because a reborn doll is considered a handmade art, and also because each is unique and requires a lot of skills, time, money and hard to come by materials, they are rarely mass manufactured. Most reborns can only be bought from personal sites of reborn artists. Which is why in a commercial setting you will only see them used for grief counselling and medical training. (None of which are in Singapore afaik.) Reborns are also becoming popular in TV shows and movies (again not in Singapore) because they're a cheaper alternative to employing infant actors. (You can Google this up as well.) Reborn dolls have a massive fan base in the West but there are some in Singapore and rest of Asia as well. There are many reborn doll communities worldwide if you look it up. Most collect for its highly realistic qualities. (They can be as hardcore as Barbie doll collectors too.) And it's not a cheap hobby. I know this much as one of my friends has a reborn doll which she customed when she lost her infant daughter to illness. (Sorry, she definitely doesn't want to share her story.🙏) It may seem strange/morbid to some but it has helped her with her grief.
Belinda, great attempts with the haunting soundings. You might want to add other sound effects, if possible, to add more impact elements to the narrations. I will be trying it out when I start working on my videos.
Belinda, no shame in not being able to pronounce the words. I teach and having students from foreign countries results in me having to use words, not spoken by myself natively. I also used translating tools to help me find the closest pronunciation. Furthermore, Eugene is here during Housekeeping to help when necessary. Both of you are great hosts, enjoyed all the stories and thoughts, and also the little 'misses' that make the sessions more interesting. Keep it up!
@@hi.imbelinda Little 'Misses' not 'Little Misses'. 'Misses' like the awkward pronunciation of Malay words. Had plenty of such 'Misses' when I first stood in front of a class, or when I first had online classes. This includes mispronouncing English words, forgetting what to say next, or putting up the wrong slides. Learn to use it to make the lesson more interesting. I accessed my WhatsApp Messenger on my laptop and made the unfortunate mistake of flashing it on the big screen with a message to a close female friend. Nothing naughty, just a cheeky reply. As I teach customer service, I use it as an introduction to the lesson sharing how we should not talk to a customer. 🤪
Just sharing: 2) The German girl of Ubin didn't unalive herself. She fell while fleeing British officers who were there to arrest hers and another German family who lived on the island. (Because you know, history. To the unintiated, basically back then Germany and Britain not buay gan with each other.) These German families were well known to Ubin residents as they ran coffee plantations there. They were also well respected as they had a good relationship with the villagers. That was why the villagers decided to give the German girl a proper burial when they found her. (At first. She was later interred into an urn by other villagers.) As a sincere appreciation to her family. This can be widely found online. But like Eugene mentioned, there are different variations of her story. The version I shared has been the one told to me many times by the old residents on the island when I'd to interview them for some work related projects. 3) Just sharing/feedback as an avid viewer. 🙏 Sis, should do more research before you shoot your episodes. At least read up first or find out about the things you don't know whenever they are mentioned in the stories that you intend to feature (e.g. what is kuda kepang, what is solat, what a reborn doll is etc.) At least you'll have some bare minimum idea about what you're talking about when you go on record. Same goes with how to pronounce, sis. Google search and the audio option on Google Translate can be your bestfriend when it comes to researching content and how to pronounce some words. 😊👍🏾 All these would definitely make the user experience of watching the SC housekeeping videos more swee/enjoyable. But pls, no more extra sound efx, leh. Damn irrits. At times scary. Especially when you are listening to this on buds or at night. Some folks just come here for a good old story and not the audio mood or cosplay. 😅🙏 Keep up the awesome work though!
@@hi.imbelinda hahaha ya, but some will jump at you lol hahaha. You never hear about those that jumps at you because the person probably isn't alive or sane anymore to tell the story

The topics here today are very interesting. Doesn’t matter if you guys make it long or short as long as it serves the story.

Thanks for the feedback! Do you have anywhere to source the sound effects? I just learnt how to use a new video editing software ytd 😅

that's a good point. there doesn't seem to be a shadow, but it could also be that the overhead lamps could be bright and drown out the shadows.
Oh I didn't even notice that!
There’s no shadow from any angle.
