    i fix a lot of zafira a and b models,they suffer badly from water damage,rusty cables ,i do the same tests too,rust makes a nice resistor,for voltage drop,like when is 12v not 12v,when lot rust on cable joint and can pull 12v on test meter ,but add high load,say 55v bulb ,h7 ,will be dim,as rust stops the flow of electric,i got opcom and snapon ultra for my every day code reads,but after watching your vids,now have forscan,on my laptop,nice bit kit,and now seem to have to fix 2.4 and 2.2 transits ,rwd and fwd models,forscan is great,also great forum too,strange how i fix cars ,vans all day and come home and watch machanics videos,but there is little gems of info to be found ,would love a toolbox tour of your box ,always love to see another mans tool box set up,my friend works at renault trucks and he has 3 roll cabs ,plus breakdown box ,big spaners and sockets too,my other friend tony is in the rac ,he loves it ,cant stand being in a workshop all day ,or mot ramp

      Thanks for the comments. A tool box tour wouldn't make a good video, im not one of those with 3 of everything and most of my snap on stuff has now gone. I've got minimal tools, having spent a few years on RAC myself, you learn you dont need many tools. Working on one brand mainly, you get away with less tools

    Top job Steve , a proper methodical testing there , back to basics sometimes enables one to find the fault easily, great result there 👍👍👍

  • @glidezilla
    @glidezilla Před 2 lety +3

    Years ago that fault would have melted the choke and throttle cables, also why not slap a bit of vaseline on those connections? great informative video, thanks.

    And that is how you diagnose a alternator fault like a pro 💪, a lot of garages would have just changed be the alternator and would be scratching there head afterwards, 😂

    Awesome video Steve. Do you think maybe the ESC fault was the front wheels of the ground rotating giving the ABS some duff information 😂😂😂.
    Top volt drop demo even the dealers know the secret of success

      @SYDiagnostics  Před 2 lety +3

      Yes, I wasn't too concerned about the ESC warning. It was my RAC days that taught me volt drop...15 years ago

    You could of volt dropped the starter ground (stud and nut) the same you did the battery ground up top. Great video non the less 👍

      I could have but when videoing whilst doing the job and keeping one eye over my shoulder, it sometimes easy to forget a part to film. I'm not afforded the luxury of free time /space to film. These are real jobs

    I have a question, Steve I’m struggling on a job didn’t know if you had any ideas
    Transit connect 2018 1.5 tdci
    17 k on the clock
    Code P2279 intake air system leak bank 1 ,goes into limp mode when RPM is raised over 3000rpm.
    I’ve smoke tested the intake there’s no leaks anywhere, tried another MAF sensor , compression all good , updated the PCM , the MAF and Desired readings are not in sync with each other , Desired is 3times higher ??
    Difficult question, any idea’s Steve.

    • @SYDiagnostics
      @SYDiagnostics  Před 2 lety

      Have you checked EGR? There is also an intake hose that splits between intake manifold and the plastic pipe (but should show up on smoke test)

    Does this throw a fault code?
    I'm getting 062104 on my 2007 astra h and intermittent battery light. Sometimes I then the car off and on and it goes away again
    Plugged obd in and getting 12.5v on battery and 14.25v with engine running.

      It didn't start I had to jump start it to get it into the workshop

  • @neilmurphy845
    @neilmurphy845 Před rokem

    Why would GM think that it is a good idea to ground out the main ground to the starter when water from the road will rust it out they should do like most cars do and have it below the battery tray where it would be protected from moisture plus it makes it much easier to clean it regularly if you have to.
