  • Le Mere Poulard is an inn and restaurant located at BP 18 Grande Rue, 50170 Le Mont-Saint-Michel, France.
Annette and Victor Poulard opened this inn and restaurant in 1888. Annette Poulard devoted her life to preparing meals for pilgrims, visitors, and the most famous figures of her time. She created a large number of dishes, among them the famous omelet that she cooked over the fire in the grand fireplace. she was given the honorary title of “Mère,” a distinction recognizing her great abilities in the kitchen and her contribution to the renown and culinary traditions of France and that is why the inn and restaurant are called Le Mère Poulard. The inn became a victim of its own success and was soon outgrown. Guests were also housed in three annexes located along the alleys leading up to the abbey: a red brick house, a whitewashed house, and a green house with ivy- covered walls.
We stayed in a Bay View Suite (Room 304) located in the red brick house. The room was basic but clean. No.1 tip for Mont Saint Michel - do not bring any large luggage as you have to lug it up the slopes of Mont Saint Michel and there are no elevators.
