      I just can't eat breakfast when I first get up. I'm up between 6 and 7:30 every day and I usually have a glass of juice. However, by 9, I start getting the growlies and that's when I start on a big breakfast. I'm retired so I can do that but even when I was working, I'd have my big meal at morning break instead of at noon.
      It's 9:43, right now and I just finished 2 eggs, over easy, bacon, a piece of toast, home made hash browns, another glass of juice and I feel great. Gonna sit outside, under the big maple and do some reading with a cup of tea. Looks like it's going to be a wonderful day.

      I almost practically never eat breakfast. My body has long ago used to it that I'll eat earliest 4PM. It has no effect on my mental condition. I don't feel powerful hunger practically ever if I don't fast a long time. My body has learned to use the fat reserves which I have.
      This being said I'll eat fatty and protein heavy foods combined with vegetables unlike the women in the story. I would probably go insane with only rice.

Sometimes I focus health, sometimes mental health or resilience, how to deal with rejection or bad payment, long term and short term aspects. The most important thing: Listen to you own thoughts, respect those and follow your misleading own Ideas into the dead end they guide you in. Then they will leave. That makes space free in your head for the great ideas of science and humanity. One word on self esteem: A student who works a little bit every day (after establishing his rhythm for that) produces success after success. That sums up to self esteem.

      Lol not true, especially for women. That's horrible advice. A moderately low-fat, vegan diet is possibly the best diet one can follow. It is aligned with our physiological and biological needs. Consuming a high fat diet as a woman especially can cause a plethora of hormonal problems, by increasing the amount of estrogen that is produced in a female's body. This can cause painful menstrual cycles, severe PMS symptoms and can even result in disease, especially if there is a lack of fiber in one's diet. Peterson does not seem to be aware of how dangerous his advice is for the long-run. Many naïve people are going to listen to his flawed words and go on with his ideas, and actually see that they feel better. However, the only reason why they actually might feel better is because fat is higher in calories per gram than carbs, which means that those people will actually get the caloric density that they need, rather than when they ate NOTHING at all for breakfast or a 100 calorie bowl of oats. Fat and protein are indeed essential macro-nutrients, but carbs are much more important to the human body as every single cell in our body runs on carbohydrates.

I'd be starving come first break sometime between 9 and 10 (I worked 7 to 7). I'd have a good meal when I got home whether it be 7 in the morning or at night. On my days off, I'd make a big pot of homemade soups, stews, pasta sauces or potato or pasta salads, to last me through the days that I worked.

I ate big lunch filled with protein in the middle of the work day, but still after 4 hours I was getting really sleepy every time. I was quite frustrated towards everything that was going on back in the home that time. Then I read somewhere that you should eat very fat based and high protein food in the morning and that "should" fix my problem of being tired after each work day. I tried it for a month. I started eating every day piece of Rye bread and an fried egg. I've been doing this for the past 2 years now from that point onward and it has totally changed my energy levels. Other total change I made is that I eat every 4 hours even when Im not hungry. I have to admit that changing the breakfast type has really helped me a lot in other ways as well. Please go try it!

    Adenosine is released after a large caloric intake. Makes you sleepy, I eat my largest, often only meal of the day before bed, the evening. Fasting is not for everyone but some sort of it may be helpful, at least worth a try. Athletes, before the bike marathon/swimming etc, carbo load at night before bed. In the morning they go in light, no breakfast. It can weigh you done, or feel like it. My b-fasts are typically not massive when I do have them but some do well with the reverse.
    Fasting is not for everyone but Ive found it prove quite useful. 24hr fasts are now unmindfully done by myself.
    Look to apex predators, those like tigers and their eating schedules. They wake, they hunt, they kill if so lucky, they eat ravenously, often fall asleep afterwards.
    Breakfast may be vital to you. Experiment, not wildly but bit by bit to see if it gets better.

      @faa4374 Před 2 lety

      Im not a psychologist but I used to have the same issue. I would say to try and find out what causes your social anxiety and what causes the low self esteem. Once you figure that out you can then implement strategies to deal with it. And once you know how to deal with it and not let it overtake your life, it may help you get the courage to put yourself out there and talk to people. And its something that can help with your relationships cause you’ll know how to deal with it so you won’t let it destroy the relationship and with self esteem it’ll help you to not project them onto your partner.

You have to seek professional help to understand the trauma, how it affects you the individual and what the best treatment would be, working together with a therapist.
      It would be irresponsible of him to tell you how to handle trauma when he has no idea what that trauma is or how it manifests itself. So.....seek help for trauma. It's the only thing that makes sense. Follow the suggestion that Peterson gives.

      I think there’s a spectrum for this, and everything is best to be “balanced”. Basically, the client example he gave is the other end of the extreme where they were unknowingly starving themselves, and that resulted in unstable blood sugar levels that causes volatility. In your case you were probably overeating, and it is really good you were able to pick up on that and change it. I wouldn’t necessarily use your example to discredit what he’s saying here, since as you say everyone should gauge for themselves where they lie on that spectrum. However, I can see why his suggestion needed to be said more since we have become so health-conscious by encouraging not eating much, and due to the advent of social media like Instagram there are many more body image issues, and generally people have been swayed further onto the side of under-eating than over-eating

We have resources. A lot of it is life skills and behaviors. Not to be unsympathetic but there is value in realizing the privelage (overused word but sorry it's apropos here) and agency, of *choice* for this population (that follows Peterson). One thing I disagree with, people don't become suicidal because of serotonin imbalance. It's a component of a larger crisis in identity in meaning.
