From Joe's debut album, " Look Sharp", from 1979. A critique of the British Press, mocking them through out the lyrics, although he said he was never bothered by them. A great R&B riff with a raggae blend, great bass line and killer harmonica make for a catchy song. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Robert. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Joe Jackson is one of my very favourite artists ! .. This was the first song I ever heard of his .. It was played on a late night music TV show and Joe was described as representing a new style of music called "Spiv Rock" .. I bought his "Look Sharp" debut album and loved it .. His follow up "I'm The Man" was also brilliant .. They're my faves from him, but all his subsequent stuff is high quality too.
Harri! Those are Denson shoes and they have their own credit on the album! I'm linking a photo below. If the link disappears, you can search Joe Jackson Look Sharp shoes. Or the back of the album cover.
The "Look Sharp" album is just crazy!! One of my all-time favorites. The baseline is ridiculous on this track and throughout the album.. especially the song "Time." But people sleep on his 4th album, "Jumpin' Jive" where he does covers of Cab Calloway, Louis Jordan and more. Check it out sometime, you won't be disappointed!!!
Great album.
Loads of talent in this Artist!
I love Joe Jackson. Thanks Robert and Harri.
This album is on my list👍👏🎶🙂
Graham Maby the bassist is badass...great tune Harri!
The second album I ever bought, it blew my 12-year-old mind. Ska influenced for sure, the syncopated guitar picked on the up gives it a reggae feel.
This is so cool... all around. Marvelous. Your voice is wonderful. Disc jockey deluxe.
Love Joe Jackson! Try “Fools In Love” for more reggae vibes!🖖🏼
The reggae beat.....with that piano solo....fucken genius
One of my favorite albums from back in the day. Joe was a thinking persons musician. He put out some great albums.

Joe Jackson does the best cover I ever heard of Cab Calloway's "Jumpin' Jive".
I saw Joe twice in the '80s in Sydney . He always had great bands , top musicians and was pretty good himself, he is a multi instrumentalist .
The great Graham Maby way out front on bass. 'Fools In Love' is another early Joe Jackson track that you might enjoy.
That was far better than any version I've heard on the radio. That had some real funk to it and was very tight and clean.
There’s a lot of paper’s like that in the US

I knew that link would be deleted.
Love you love you
The whole Look Sharp Every time I hear a song from this album I immediately miss the next song because the album is seamless. 😁❤️
This album broke big!!! Lots of radio play
Look Sharp! Check out "Got The Time" next.
Got this album when it came out, and yes, saw pointy white shoes in the store. I had to buy them!
Best line: "They wouldn't print it if it wasn't true."
My favourite song from him. He was a big deal for about 10 years.
