    When Hemp became illegal, Kentucky became one of the poorest states. It surprises me at the amount of people who do not even research Kentucky's history, a majority of the people today in Kentucky that speak against Hemp and Marijuana in Kentucky....their ancestors was actually among the largest Hemp and Marijuana growers in US history. A quick look at Geneology records and occupations will show this.

    PTSD meds, Pain meds, Nausa meds, anti Seizure meds, Depression meds, etc etc cost have been drastically reduced in the states that legalized Marijuana due to lower demand on those meds. A large portion of the people receiving Medical Marijuana in legal states are listed as "disabled", their meds are paid by tax payers. Keeping Marijuana illegal in Kentucky takes from tax payer's money just to keep meds supplied to their disabled citizens. Think about it.

    Claiming that Cannabis is a gateway to harder, more dangerous drugs because it gets you high is like saying drinking milk is a gateway to alcohol consumption because they're both wet.

    • @MichaelJones-rn2pq
      @MichaelJones-rn2pq Před 5 měsíci

      The substantial increase in THC in weed means it is no longer a gateway to a harder, more dangerous drug, it IS a harder, more dangerous drug. Ask me if I have seen that with my own eyes in the last 14 years working at the homeless shelter in schizophrenic episodes.

    • @eltonjohnson
      @eltonjohnson Před 5 měsíci

      @@MichaelJones-rn2pqdumb take. There’s no mechanism for a biological or physical dependence on cannabis. So it’s not a hard drug. If cannabis is a hard drug, then tobacco, caffeine, and alcohol are also hard drugs (though those all CAN develop a biological dependence and horrible withdrawal).
      You’re not reporting on anything new. Anyone who has cracked a book in the last 20 years knows people with psychotic disorders or risk factors for psychotic disorders shouldn’t use psychoactive substances. Cannabis isn’t unique in that respect. The same can be said of hard drugs, amphetamines, and psychedelics.

    There are criminal syndicates associate with marijuana growth for the same reason there were criminal syndicates associated with alcohol bootlegging in the 20s. Look at how many criminals are associated with alcohol now that it's legal. I'm not a pot head, but the argument and logic behind it's outlawing is just completely broken, and kind of sad...

      @thatguy22441 Před 2 lety

      Making it legal means no more federal funding for eradication. The DEA shells out tens of millions every year to jurisdictions across the country. Plus, eradication is itself a multi-million-dollar industry. Those HMMWVs, ATVs, helicopters, etc. are not cheap. A lot of people are making good money selling the cops eradication gear.
      Then there are the cops themselves. The ones who aren't brainwashed into thinking cannabis is going to kill us all are too cowardly to speak up. Non-violent (and often non-white) cannabis users and growers are tempting targets for ambitious cops. While they're cowards for not speaking up, going after easy targets makes them just that much more despicable.

    With Marijuana illegal, it leaves it UNREGULATED, and gives criminal groups access to turn it into a buisness, UNREGULATED Marijuana does NOT have a age limit, however Legalized Marijuana IS REGULATED and DOES have a age limit. When Alcohol was illegal kids was able to get it easy and criminal groups became rich off it, today you do not see criminal groups in the alcohol buisness nor do you see outrageous amounts of minors with alcohol. Think about it :)

    Please direct me to any scholary study that links marijuana as a gateway drug. This is a long standing arguement like many, that contains no validity. You seems to hold a fascist loyalism to your commonwealth without a basic understanding of cannabis/hemp uses, medicinal purposes, or potential for economic growth. Their mission as a state police officer is to protect the people. This video in no way illustrates the purpose of law enforcement.

    In 2012, the unit issued a total of 42 citations and made a mere eight arrests despite a massive budget that includes renting a helicopter to identify grow sites and, if needed, para-transport officers into the weed-soaked hollers of Eastern Kentucky. The rental fees associated with the helicopter were, in 2012 numbers, nearly $900,000; travel and supplies cost $2,309 and $13,841, respectively; and nearly a quarter-million was paid in overtime.Breaking the numbers down further, the total cost per arrest for the unit in 2012 was $156,421 (out of a budget total of $1,2 million for that year). The figures obviously exclude other, often hidden taxpayer costs. So good job saving everyone from the dangerous pot heads.They claim the growers get $3000 a pound.You meant to say $300 a pound. For $3000 a pound I would move there tomorrow.Oh and if Roper wasn't such a fat ass and lost at least 50 lbs he might actually rappel from the helicopter instead of what ever you call that thing he does,Goofing off.

    Ever wonder why meth pain pills and heroin are so rampant in Kentucky ? Probably bc half the state police are out cutting down a harmless plant when they should be taking down meth labs and heroin dealers. How does that not make sense to you all? You are literally wasting time and money and destroying good people's lives. God forbid someone make a little money you didn't know about. Kinda like when y'all find 30 plant and report 15.

    I fail to see the difference in legal or illegal use if used for medicinal or hemp use? And law enforcement officers are selected to leave their homes families and duties as law enforcement officers to "combat" a harmless drug deemed unfit by a federal government? This seems to only illustrate how expensive they make it to "combat". Fuel for helicopters and weaponry. All in the name of "combating" a plant that could be used as a highly renewable resource. Such productivity of law enforcement.

    To bad the pot has to be destroyed and not used to better the state. For example. when someone is arrested and their property is seized, then after the conviction that property is sold or used by the state. KSP gets a new (used) Mustang for undercover and chase vehicle work. According to the numbers in the video, the state could save millions of dollars from the liquid value of the pot.

  • @drblevins

    The #1 reason that KSP is determined to keep marijuana illegal is because of the Federal funding received. What they won't tell you is the areas targeted are some of THE poorest in the state, but I do respect the KSP.
    In 2012, the Kentucky State Police received three major grants from federal sources for marijuana eradication. The grants totaled $3.45 million.
    The DEA contributed $1.25 million for eradication efforts, including almost $900,000 for aircraft rentals and $235,000 for OVERTIME.

    KSP , there is something coming very soon within the next decade that you won't be able to stop. 3D chemical drug printers. The mass public doesn't have them yet but they will. Within the next decade, every household will have the potential to be their own pharmaceutical manufacturer and print almost any drug they wish, even creating new classes of designer drugs. It's coming. A man named Lee Cronin who is a chemistry professor at Glasgow University with many researchers is working on the technology to make this a reality. Printing molecules with reactionware will make it possible to synthesize just about any chain of organic molecules necessary to print any drug one wishes. This is going to put drug dealers out of business because anyone will be able to manufacture any drug they wish from the privacy of their home.
