- Did you ever wonder what it takes to get a Kentucky State Police Cruiser road ready? It is a combined effort by our Supply Branch and Computer Technology Branch to ensure the cars are safe, equipped with the needed technology and have the appearance of that citizens have come to recognize. Enjoy this segment of KSP Tv!
You should do some live on patrols with some of your officers that would be Cool to watch.
I think live pd was better but that’s just my opinion
My maternal grandfather was a Trooper from 1936-1969. I learned a lot about KSP and the traditions they follow as a young boy.

I got a ticket for speeding from a KSP officer back in the 90's. I was speeding. He knocked the ticket down to like 5 or 10 over after taking the time to explain to me that he was tasked to patrol the road I was on and how many people get hurt and killed on said highway. He said just please slow down......if I see you again I want it to be somewhere like McDonalds instead of watching you get cut out of your car after a wreck. That hit home to me. Back then I think it was a 78.50 ticket I paid and got good advice.

The background music sounds like Rock and Roll Train by AC/DC but altered and rearranged. Those are pretty cool looking cars. My uncle Christopher Vance was Captain for the KSP and retired from Post #1 in Mayfield in the early 2000s.

I was a dispatcher back in the 70’s. How things have changed!! My son is interested in KSP. Is it possible for him to do a ride along?
Yes it is possible ksp website shows what county's are in what post then once he finds his county go to post office and ask for ride along paper work hope this helps

What's the difference between hardtop with a lightbar or a slicktop is it rank?
1. Less wind resistance which equates to improved fuel economy. This is particularly true for highway patrol vehicles.
2. Less obviously a police vehicle especially when viewed in profile. Much easier for Johnny PoPo to sneak up on a roadway miscreant undetected.
3. in some Departments they are used As Gang enforcement vehicles (Like the LAPD/ Dallas police )

Can you buy a used police cruiser and then put the police decal from transformers? Because the mustang in there had a police decal and didn’t know if civilians can have that on there car?

I went on a ride around before doing my cbtt tests or pops. We hit the parkway outside of london and hit a sideroad.. All i can say is wow.. The speed lol.. Yea buddy they got speed and handling as far as ill say i wished i hadnt ate mexican lol

The term civilian in law enforcement means someone who is not a swon member of the police department. They don't wear a uniform, don't carry a gun and cannot arrest people. Only police officers can do all that, "civilians" cannot
