Ratcliffe had to borrow against INEOS to fund buying his MU shares and all that money has gone to the Glazers. Hes borrowed £200M as well to do up infrastructure so £20M would have to come out of the transfer budget and probably thought he could get Ashworth on the cheap. Paul Mitchell for me is the best choice for us. Media reports before Xmas said Man U approached him while he was scouting as was their no 1 choice for D of F but told them to take a running jump to be polite with the sneaky way they did this. MU then went for Ashworth which speaks for itself for how high Mitchell is regarded. He has better connections given his time in Austria,Germany and France than Ashworth ever had and is an upgrade on Ashworth. Also being ex Man City problably does not have a high regard for MU. The fact he turned down a sneaky approach speaks to me the morals of the man and that of Ratcliffe.
