I saw this at the Popcorn Frights Film Festival last year, and I liked its aesthetics and not much else. When it came to its visual and audio design, it felt like a better _Silent Hill_ movie than the actual _Silent Hill_ movie and offered some real scares and atmosphere... but when it came to the story, it lost me. The first thing that stuck out for me was that it described the end of summer as the end of tourist season in Florida. That might be true in places that have four seasons, but take it from someone who lived in Florida for nearly a decade: the end of summer is when all the snowbirds come. It's the opposite of the end of tourist season. That was something it would've been easy to change, but it came up more than once that it was supposed to be the end of summer. Given that Mickey Keating grew up in Florida, he really should've known better.
I've noticed this a lot with Keating's films. I think he's the J. J. Abrams of indie horror, a guy who's great at replicating the aesthetics of other movies but not so good at telling stories, or for that matter, getting the little things right. I only needed to take one look at the trailer for _Carnage Park,_ specifically the moment when it becomes clear that he doesn't realize how the sound of a gunshot travels, to decide that I wasn't gonna be checking it out any time soon.

I saw a surprisingly good crime thriller over the weekend called "The Outfit" with Mark Rylance. I can definitely recommend it as a well-acted, old school thriller with plenty of plot twists.

Just watched this movie and liked it overall. Sure the story is very slight,and the effects weren't the best,but the atmosphere was great,and it had a really creepy vibe,like being stuck in a nightmare. I love the main actress too,she is very believable and the camera loves her lol...I'd give it a good 7/10 I reckon!
I'm surprised that people didn't like it, sometimes the spookiness/mystery is enough for me
I enjoyed it, but it could have been better. It needed a few more scares, it could have used a couple more characters to slowly knock off gradually to help build toward the end, like a couple of friends traveling with them or something, but I do love these types of stories, Thank you for the review

I also missed this one and have heard nothing about it. Seems interesting in it's aesthetics, though. To bad the story doesn't hold up. Got strong Silent hill vibes from the trailer. Oh, and congratulations on 100 000 subscribers! 🎉

Last night I was browsing rentals on Vudu, and I was torn between this and “See for me”. I chose See for me. Sounds like I made the right choice lol.
Enjoyed it for sure but wasn’t in love with it. Gave me vibes of Dead and Buried (1981) which I love. Felt like a good rainy day movie to watch.
I was really excited about this one actually, but after your review, I don't know if it's for me... I may still watch it but it's not high up on my watchlist anymore...
I did miss this one, but I think I’ll circle back to it. I like the setup, but thanks for lowering my expectations! Nothing worse than out of place cgi “scares.”

I did NOT hear about this movie. I really enjoyed her in the awesome Hoyse of the Devil. With your review, I do hope it comes to Shudder. Visually, it reminds me of the original The Fog. Once again, thank you for the heads up.

Yeah, I gave this one 2.5/5. Loved the atmosphere and I really like Jocelin Donahue, the rest of it just felt a little lacking.

Yeah I didn’t get into this at all. Though I liked it more than his other efforts (haven’t seen Carnage Park yet which looks like his best rated film so maybe I’ll give that a look)

what drove me nuts about that movie, was that effing violin (?) in the background, playing only two notes in a loop.. made my skin seriously crawl but not in that good way.

I really liked the setting and the survival horror game vibes, but that's about it. Nothing new or enjoyable to see here, unfortunately :/
This was a disappointment for me. Great atmosphere yes but there is barely a story in there and what little they give you nothing is explained or expanded upon. Trailer was better than the movie sadly.

It’s pretty bad. Terrible, stiff writing with B movie acting. The attempt at A24 art house style cinematography came off unauthentic, like they were trying to mimic the style without knowing how to do it correctly. Lots of cheap “loud noise” jump scares that don’t fit at all with the atmospheric horror it seems like it wants to portray. The whole movie is a mess, and lacked any cohesive style or atmosphere
