- Who has the best crispy chicken sandwich? There are so many restaurants to choose from. Names that you've often heard get the most praise certainly include Popeyes and Chick-fil-A. But what about KFC? Or Raising Cane's? And what about the classics...McDonald's, Burger King, and Wendy's? There are far too many restaurants that boast a crispy chicken sandwich now, leaving the choice for consumers rather difficult. So, I've done all the hard work and drove to every single restaurant in a day (actually, we drove to Popeye's twice since the first was somehow cash-only). I taste-tested every single one, examining each sandwich and also taking into account the fact that experience can certainly vary by location.
Ultimately, there's a list of somewhat clear winners. I'll let you watch to be surprised, but I will say that the top two spots are actually quite close. The top three, however, have very firm and stable positions. I hope that I can help for next time you try to pick a lunch on the go.

I was surprised by how good the Burger King hand breaded spicy chicken sandwich was. It was crispy, had good flavor and was very good for fast food crispy chicken sandwiches.
Yeah I really like the Chick-king sandwich. Here they’re much more crispy and better. We also don’t have Popeyes here. 😢

I used to dislike chicken sandwich/burger because it is far inferior compared to beef ones (I had mostly grilled chicken ones). But the first chicken sandwich that changed my mind was the McSpicy Deluxe from McDonalds, it was a super tasty and juicy fried chicken sandwich. They made it really well that I only get chicken sandwich/burger every time I go to a fast food joint. Later on, I continued to try ones from KFC, Popeyes, etc. I must say I am addicted to fried chicken sandwich now lol

I just recently found your channel, hasn't disappointed once. That being said, I did this exact thing you did around the whole Popeyes chicken sandwich kick. For my rankings top 3 was KFC taking the number uno chick-fil-a taking silver and Popeyes coming a very close 3rd. Even though chick-fil-a does tent to over cook there bird, it really came down to sauces and service. In my opinion you really can't beat a place who's been in the chicken game since 1952.

When I worked at KFC we were half and half with Taco Bell. I was always the only one working in the KFC side, and I had a side cook here and there. I found KFC is probably the easiest fast food place I worked at, and it blows my mind that people still continue to fuck up there. You're quite literally just frying chicken all day and restocking. With that said, Popeye's has the best chicken sandwich.

I don’t know if you have it in your area, but Zaxbys recently came out with a signature crispy chicken sandwich (they have a spicy one too). It has pickles and a giant piece of fried chicken, along with their zax sauce (you can get the spicy version as well) and a brioche bun. Originally Chicfila was my fave crispy chicken sandwich but……..zaxby’s may have just topped it 👀. If you ever have the chance try it please!

I had all these and I have no idea still what’s so magnificent about Popeyes. I had all the sandwiches twice; the first time they were all as they came and then the second time I had plain so I could taste the chicken for what it was and nothing was more seasoned than chick-fil-a. The rest were sub par.

watching Nick review these sandwiches has changed my entire view of eating food entirely. he's literally leveled up my sense of taste completely and changed the way I think about the flavor of foods.
Same, and once you make your own burgers or sandwiches with the approach of a chef you start to change the way you taste them from others.

Nick I’ve seen you struggle with the Chic-fil-a sauce cups on a couple videos now and I’d like to help you in the future if you read this. Instead of trying to just peel the top at the corner, take your thumb with the hand you’re holding it with and push the plastic up then slide your other thumb across the edge and it should peel right up…I haven’t ever had issues with it lol. Love the content though keep up!

As someone who used to work at Chick-fil-A, the crunchiness varies based upon how fresh the coater is. When they put fresh coater in the pan (especially when they changeover from breakfast and the whole pan is fresh), the coating is will be super thin. As they use it, it will clump up and add a lot of texture. So the first sandwiches of the day are usually the worst. That said, Popeyes is still better
Imagine a restaurant with Popeyes food but with Chick fil a “my pleasure” service. If only 🤤.
No it's not... A henny penny ALWAYS does a better job of cooking CFA sandwiches. Popeyes is always a gamble.
@@cowetascore8476 I will agree that pressure cooking with the Henry penny is super consistent. The variability is in how it is breaded. I've probably had 100s of chickfila sandwiches, and they were all good. I've only had maybe 5 popeyes sandwiches. So while I can't say for sure they're as consistent, I've never had a bad one there either. The difference is that popeyes is more complex, especially without sauces.
