- Growing up in the spotlight because of your famous father can't be easy with all the expectations that come with you living up to what he did as an athlete. Zaire Wade wasn't on many radars through high school, although the internet made him seem like he was at times. Being DWade's son that's expected, but everything following came as surprise, as he was able to skip the college route and turn professional in the NBA G League. It was a rough rookie year last season, and now he's searching for another team to latch on with. Did Dwayne Wade move Zaire along too fast and hurt his development in the process, or was Zaire not ready for that level of basketball simply off talent alone? Whatever the case What's to come of his career now? What happened to Zaire Wade? A guard that had some potential in high school, but maybe much more hype than anything, because of his basketball legend father. Did DWade Cost ZAIRE WADE His Career? What Stunted His Growth!

Does Zaire have what it takes to make it to the NBA at this point?
On its face it's hilarious: gonna give my kid who was fringe 3 star HS player with a busted jumper a spot on a G League team. But in the long run D Wade did this kid no favors.
He couldnât even get PT at Sierra Canyon.
No, respectfully I just see a guy without a motor
@@CM-ft9ep the fact that he got 18 mins with that production just doesn't sit well with me
Only if he goes overseas and do nothing but bleed Basketball
Averaging 2 points and shooting 20 something percent in the G League when you're averaging like 19 minutes a game is actually insane đ. I did not know bro was this bad. No disrespect to D Wade, BUT DAMN the nepotism is crazy đ
Is this true?!!! Wow!!!
I donât wanna defend him too hard but the full picture would let you know how good or a bad a player is beyond their stats. I do believe heâs better than what his stats show while I also believe he shouldâve took his ass to college.. and that heâs not as good as he probably thinks he is
You know i wonât comment on dwade but itâs a shame cause you know thereâs a kid out there who actually woulda done something with this opportunity. Kid needs to get in the gym and off social media.
@@Igoruhandchu hella facts. Nepotism at it's finest
@@spliffsforbreakfast see I believe that too, but with the chances he got, to have those numbers is crazy
For those who want more accurate stats:
-Zaire played 12 games in the G-League. He averaged 18 mins, ~2 PPG on 26% FG and ~3 shot attempts per game.
-His 3PT% was even lower at ~19% with 1 3PT shot attempted per game.
-He averaged 2 rebs, 1 ast, 1 turnover, and 1 steal per game
-He also averaged just as many fouls as he did with points.
In conclusion: Nepotism got him the privilege to be in the G-League, but his underwhelming skills got him put out. Unfortunately, D-Wade is the perfect example of being too involved with your kids. Let them grow naturally, you donât need to hold their hand every step of the way, especially when they are older.
Zaire Wade is a FRAUD, and was propelled because of his father's name!
Facts
D Wade had an overbearing father and bullies for brothers, there is no "formula"...some players just don't have it....
Yes. Instead of letting him forge his own path in college, he did everything for him and made it easy for him. Now he's entitled and doesn't have that NBA drive
DWade prolly saw his kid's low end college options as a reflection on him, rather than the route the kid was cracked up for. Ego is a hell of a drug.
Or maybe he was just being supportive of a son that he knows isnât good enough for the nba. D wade has been very supportive of his kids
@@drewalfred96 he did everything he could've but all honesty he really just wasn't that good unfortunately. If he was struggling against the best high school competition and couldn't stand out, how well would he have done in college lol
Same thing gonna happen to Bronny. They should've gone and get that college experience.
@@drewalfred96 Being a supportive father is giving your kid the tools to stand on his own and be his own man. Putting your kid in position to fail because your ego is so big you think your kid's success or failure is reflection on you is the opposite of being supportive.
He wasn't that good. Just another example of a players not living up to his father's status. Happened to Jordan's kids as well.
They just need to be their own person and do something their fathers couldnât do, basketball isnât everything. Life has much more.
At least Jordanâs kids went to college and got educated for life beyond basketball. Zaire got horrible advise and went all-in on basketball and totally failed

D-Wade had something you canât teach that took him far his whole career and thatâs instinct.
His instincts, ability to react, combined with his athleticism made him special.

letâs not lie here, the kid looks zesty as hell
Not sure if this is a "stunted growth" sometimes people just aren't good enough đ€·đŸââïž
Biggest setback it usually a combo of nature vs nurture and genetics.
Genetics: DWade DOES NOT dwarf his own father, who is probably a 6â3/6â4 man with big hands and broad shoulders.
I think his mother is on the taller side as well
Siovaughn Wadeâs smaller, and Zaire just doesnât have the same gifts D Wade has at 6â2 compared to D Wade being 6â4.5 and bigger/stronger
Nature/Nurture: D Wade had some serious bullies for a father and brothers who conditioned him
Zaireâs road looked pretty easy compared to D Wadeâs. When the gaming consoles and bedsheets are a little too comfortable, itâs hard to stay absurdly hungry
Dude Seth Curry does not his dad in height or weight so that take is terrible.
@@romeod7549 Seth and Steph Curry have not anchored their games on athleticism. And this is just an exception to the rule as far as it goes with the Curry brothers. Majority of NBA greats have not had their sons replicate their successes. This all comes down to genetics. None of their sons ever grew bigger and taller than their fathers despite the improvements in nutrition in the last five decades. Jordan's kids are smaller than him, Bronny will not grow to be 6'9 like his dad, neither did Kobe get to be 6'9 like his paps, heck even Seth and Steph are not taller than their dad. This all comes down to the inferior genes passed down from their mothers, cause at the end of the day, all these nba players always end up with "pretty" women that are subpar in terms of the required gene level. Second issue is nurture, as stated in the previous comment, in that, these kids tend to be bred in a life of comfort. Whereby, comfort and contentment dissuades these kids from seeking and pursuing life goals like mastering a difficult skill. And this is because they've had their lives made out for them.
@@geezer74 We overexxagerate these nba guys heights. LeBron is 6'8 and yes the kids are usually shorter because their moms are way shorter than their dads.
Dwade is 6'4 even and Zaire Wade isn't quite 6'2 when you're not that tall it's definitely harder to play on a high level. I would be a dwarf out there same size as JJ Barea đ€Ł.
NOT SURE MANY PEOPLE REMEMBER THIS (I am a Bball junkie)âŠBUT I REMEMBER SEEING DWADE AND A VERY YOUNG ZAIRE AT THE 2008 NBA FINALS IN BOSTON ..KOBE WAS STROKING 3âs BAC TO BACK TO BACK ..EVEN HAD WADE VISIBLY GEEKING âŠ.ZAIRE WAS FRANTICALLY PLAYING GAMES ON HIS PHONE ..I THOUGHT TO MYSELF THEN ..âTHIS KID WONT BE A PLAYER â..EVEN AT THAT AGE IF A PHONE VIDEO GAME IS BETTER THAN BEING AT THE NBA FINALS ?..HE WILL NEVER âLOVE â BBALL

I canât wrap my brain around how you can be a buss when your pops is a NBA great. You have all the top training available, a lot of connections, full refrigerator no stress.
Zaire should have stayed at Mt Carmel where he was doing well.. Several NBA players came from that school. Also he should have gone to a college just like his dad. D Wade went to a non basketball high school then to Marquette and was a first round pick so I'm not sure why he didn't advise his son the same. I saw him play when he was young and he was actually very good.
Him and LeBron son shouldâve went to Crossroads. Play some good talent while developing. Playing behind that much talent at SC wasnât smart
Jalen Rose's pops was a number 1 pick and made a couple all-star games. Jalen himself had multiple 20 point per game seasons. That might be the closest example of a father and his son both being at least star level players.
Curry and his son Lebron is a good example
@@froe5698 this is hilarious Curry for tge first time outplayed Lebron in a series this year and that eneded up as a losy
I agree with your assessment regarding his decision not to attend college. I said the same things when I heard he was going to the G League. That was a bad decision and horrible advice given.
At Sierra Canyon coaches believed he wasn't good enough to touch the floor (when compared to the best high school players). What made him and his handlers believe he was developed enough to face pros?
I agree
Thatâs where he messed up at
Exactly. Maybe his pops was trying to teach him a lesson by basically feeding him to the wolves.
Big factsâŠcrazy someone told him he could go from a high school bench to the pros and be successful.

@@IvorySharail I meant style of play. not actual career & stats.
If he went to a lower level D1 program and averaged 15ppg on good efficiency then he would have for sure been a 2nd round pick
You dropped some cold hard facts in this one. I completely agree. Seems like he was making social media driven decisions instead of keeping it real. People sometimes act like the majority of guys who get drafted didn't go the college route. They did. Go and be the big man on campus, and if you think you are good enough to play gleague then you should ball out in college and get more exposure and get drafted. It's too late for that now

Nah. He was never good enough. Low D1 player. Getting a Gleague opportunity now because he dad has a % percentage ownership of the Jazz. But he should have just went to college, did what MJs kids did and just run the business. That's a large cloud to hang over yourself.
precisely. He was never touted as a "Can't miss prospect." All recruiting stuff I read about him had him rated as a mid major or low D1 recruit. He just doesn't have the talent to be an NBA player (which is fine, very few do)....that said, he definitely should have gone to college, but even if he had, the probability of him actually making any sort of impact in the league was basically zero.
Having played Major DI to Juco then to Low DI then D2 low D1 had the most skilled players, Major had the biggest players with most strength and Major NJCAA had the best allaround athletes and players not even close.. so to say low DI as a rating is dumb asF

I dunno. Failing spectacularly at your chosen profession and disappointing the father you undoubtedly revere (judging from his inability to stand up to him) is no oneâs idea of a good time. Also the fact he couldnât even get a scholarship to his dadâs alma mater. Iâm pretty sure that gave him an edge to just kill everyone anyway he could without being physical

Can't help but feel Zaire was given too many accesses too early others couldn't get and didn't feel the need to improve as much.

I donât want to pretend like I know more than I do but I can give my opinion on the short time I actually spent around Zaire.
I first met him years ago at DWadeâs basketball camp and to give him the benefit of the doubt we were both children, him being younger than me. We met after the camp ended for the day and I was playing on a side hoop. We started playing around and he kept bragging and saying he was Wadeâs son. I honestly didnât believe him almost just off the fact of how he was acting. Definitely felt like I was playing some random annoying kid pretending to be DW son. Turned out it really was.
Fast forward years later and Iâm a senior at the school heâs attending freshman year (Mount Carmel).. So I never had class with the guy or really hang out with him, but I reintroduced myself, got acquainted. Off back I noticed he had that same air of thinking he was better than what he actually was or being special because of his last name. It felt less like confidence and more like smugness.
I can at least say from my perspective and pretty much all the hoop varsity players, thought that he WAS NOT the best freshman and he actually wasnât even better than his cousin (Dada Morris) whoâs basically his brother. They both attended and played together at MC. Thereâs always been competition visibly better when heâs on the floor.
After his freshman year I graduated, he transferred, and the rest is history. But beyond the fact that he truly does have talent, potential, and a feel for basketball with HOF DNA, I believe his intangibles as a player/person are whatâs holding him back the most and not necessarily if heâs good or not. Yea his production is shotty but Iâve seen better players average similar numbers if not worse.

More likely 3rd tier in top countries or 1st tier in lesser leagues. So in Spain, Germany or France 3rd tier. Holland, Mexico, Thailand 1st Tier maybe. Mexico and Thailand pay pretty well so...

Yeah, I never heard anything saying that Zaire Wade was a top level, can't miss prospect. Everything I read on him said he was a mid major or low D1 guy. Most kids of superstars end up being nowhere close to as good as dad, so Zaire being a pretty decent player, and an overseas guy should surprise no one. He just didn't care as much because he didn't have to earn anything and probably cares more about playing NBA 2k than playing in the NBA.
@StuntedGrowth. You should do one on Mo Harkless and Bruno Caboculo
He didn't want the pressure of being his son,so he wanted to be his daughter with no expectations.
Plus he doesn't have that hunger that his Dad has and he was born into money.
How? I thought he was still on the come up. Had no idea he was 20.
Shame on D Wade for ruining *both* of his kids...
Damn, surprised it took 26 minutes for an idiot to show up LOL.

this kid is fine. no shame in not being able to make the nba.
the other one on the other hand...

No one has the balls to openly consider whether D-Wade putting a larger than life spotlight on Zaireâs 13 y/o brothers TRANSformation and making it a nationwide- if not global- phenomenon caused a lot of inner turmoil in Zaire.
Going from only being asked about your game, what youâre working on, upcoming challenges etc, to do you support your young brother now being your sister, and a thousand other questions about that. Everybody looking at u differently, media all outside your door everyday etc has to be at least somewhat of a distraction if not a hardship. I personally believe that had an effect on Zaireâs mental.
Wade took full advantage of that situation and brought the entire world into their lives. He (and Gabrielle Union) wanted the attention and money that came with it. Something had to fill the void left from leaving the NBA behind (and for her having her career dwindling down). This story filled it and then some. They were ready for it. I donât think Zaire was. D-Wade & GU didnât care about that or else they wouldnât have made it such a spectacle.
I mean he is only 20 he could still be able to carve out an overseas career itâs not over for him
I say all the time that in his prime he was as good as anybody in the league

@@rockfresh5359 why are you laughing? Itâs literally true, Wade had one of the greatest primes ever
@@Kilooma his 08-09 all time great season didn't get an mvp only because lebron had an equally good season
@@rockfresh5359 Wade in the title season up to and after that, before the injuries caught up, he was a dawg. Don't matter who you're a fan of I laugh at people that think Prime Harden was better than Wade. Wade had that turn it on gear to his game warly.
I sense a Juwanna Man sequel. He can go fruit loop like Dwadeâs other kid and join the WNBA.
treveon graham hr went to vcu. Gotta do him next. Solid two-way plater in his college days
The reason why Bronny will make it is because heâs evolving every year, if he Maxes out at 6â5 đ„đ„
Ur right dwade would have been in a better position to pull strings if ge went the college route but he believes in his son and took a chance, even if zaire dont make it to the nba there wont be any regrets they went on the right path
Allen Crabb next would be good!
If becoming a nba player is tough who do people assume the child of a nba star just automatically will be a son. There is a lot of intangibles that go into his father's success. One being hunger for a better life. The best situation is getting a father's genetics and knowledge but being hungry to achieve what the father never could.
I hope he can bounce back and get a roster spot somewhere.
We see this in the Dallas area all the time kids get tired of being a big fish in a small pond and end up going to prep schools however for our kids it works we just produced the number one pick in the draft in Cunningham lol.
You can't blame D Wade. A lot of athletes kids don't have that gift or dog in them to make it far as their parents. He did his thing, but he was known for his last name and nothing else. If Zaire didn't have the name Wade, we wouldn't know him.
Grevis Vasquez? I liked his game coming out of Maryland
Can u do a stunted growth in Kevin Knox please
