Gooseneck vs Bumper Pull! Which One Is Right For You!

  • There are great things about both the gooseneck and bumper bull dump trailers. The main benifit for a bumper pull is ease of hookup! If you are hooking up and unhooking your trailer multiple times a day and or week, then I would recommend you look into a bumper pull trailer.
Now If you do not need to hook and unhook every day or many times per week, a gooseneck would be the way to go. Gooseneck dump trailers seem to tow much better and have better weight distribution on the truck since the towing point is right over the rear axle of the truck.!

I have bumper pulls and a 24' deckover goose neck. I find it way easier to back up a gooseneck. Also rides way better.

Many years ago I had some advice from an oldtimer. When you pull each through the snow, look at your tire ruts. Bumper pull will closely follow the tow vehicle's rut while a 5th wheel/gooseneck will cut it's own path. This is what you have to bear in mind when turning or backing.

Need a 34 foot deck over I had a GN and turning seemed to always need to go super wide. With the number pool seems easier but I have a 20ft so hard to compare. Wanna pull fiberglass pool shells

How do you lose 500 pounds of capacity with the gooseneck? The gooseneck can have more weight on the hitch than the bumper pull any day. Especially with the 450.

I want to buy a 16ft dump still can't decide bumper or goose. I own a 2015 F150, 2012 F250 and 2012 3500HD Dually. The trailer I saw at 11k cost more than what I paid for all my 3 trucks combined lol. I just want to do hobby ranch stuff to move dirt, maybe help people take junk to landfill. I want to build a pond so want to move material across 8 acres and to my vacant lots.

I’ll stick to a bumper pull for two reasons. 1= it’s much easier to maneuver for the type of work I do. 2= I only have a f-150😂
If I were in the long distance delivery business it would be a no brainer. How are them fuel prices treating you bro for that 450?

Gooseneck far exceeds bumper pull in every way.

Do you have a CDL or class A? If not how do you get away with towing over 26000 gcwr?
