    Good honest review, Chris. One thing I'd like to add for anyone complimenting a purchase. A friend of mine bought a dump trailer and I asked him why a 12' as opposed to a 14'er. He said It's easier to maneuver the shorter trailer in confined ares. Same load capacity, just load it higher. Hope this tid bit may be of help to someone.

    Chris nice trailer, that's one that all of us would like to own. You mentioned there is a wireless remote available. I have a tilt car trailer that is 17 feet long with a 9,000 lbs winch that came with a 12 foot cord to operate the in and out of the cable. I buy small tractors and most of the time they do not run. Having a winch with over 100 ft of cable is great but if I need to steer the tractor while loading it only works if the tractor is only 12 feet from the winch. A friend told me he bought a remote from the dealer where he bought his dump trailer for $75.00. I did a little research and found the same remote on ebay for less than $12.00 including shipping. It came with two remotes, one large one, one small one for a key ring, and a small box that wires in to your electric solenoid on the lift. I can operate my winch up to ninety feet away from the winch. Not saying you would ever want to be that far from your trailer but some times an extra ten feet is a big help. The remotes work with winches and electric/hydraulic pumps as well. The prices have gone up a little since I bought mine but they are still priced under $20.00. I searched ebay for "winch remote". My 12 foot cord is sill useable but the remote is the real ticket. Thanks for your time. Robin in WV

    🤣 I hear ya.
    They are good trailer's. My dad has a 8ftx14ft deck over. I was dumping a load of firewood at my place and my yard sloped down. Back left door was hitting the ground and I had to pull ahead to get the load out, so after I put the box down and went to close doors and the left one was bent up with a 5 in gap 😱. Took about 2hrs to straighten it out🤦‍♂️.

    Great video Chris, I have a CJ I went for the CJ dump trailer because of the dual lifting cylinders, and that’s all my dealer carries. Everyone that I talked to and videos before getting one said that the scissor lift don’t have enough oomph to lift it on very heavy loads.

    • @WolfeRidgeSplitters
      @WolfeRidgeSplitters  Před 3 lety +1

      The only time I have heard of folks having problems with scissor hoists are the guys who are overloading the trailers. Like putting 5-6 yards of gravel in them type of thing. Never going to do that with firewood unless you extend the sides up 3 more feet and stack wood in.

    I have the 16 foot version of your trailer. Been happy with it. I don't have D-rings with the metal tab on the back doors. Mine utilizes a chain with a caribener so the doors stay tight to the trailer when dumping. I have the wireless remote control for dumping, makes it nice and fast when delivering the wood. Only thing I don't like is there are only 2 spots to put the ramps on the back of the trailer to load equipment.

    Hehehe I completely understand your complaints. I myself am alittle OCD and I hold myself and my work to a high standard. That goes for welding, machining, wiring, hanging Xmas lights and ornaments on the tree...a small part of me thinks if I wasn’t so OCD I would have less customers and more time to do my own stuff but I just can’t do subpar work. I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night😆 one more thing...it’s no secret I buy imported products, HF is a store I frequent. And when I see crappy welding/machining work on their products I can deal with it. In fact I sometimes expect it knowing full well I will be reworking it right out of the crate. But when I see this kind of work on US or Canadian or EU work you better believe they’ll be getting some feedback from me. Hence something I just purchased that is wood related. I plan on making a vid in the near future about it. It has a wired and wireless controller.

  • @heathenfirewoodservice2021

    How do you like it now after running it a few months? I’ve got a nice 6x10 cam super line advantage. I like how it tows pretty good, it’s a nice height to load and unload by hand if I have to. I do wish the belly pan was welded more to the cross bracing because man it’s loud when I’m dumping or tossing in wood. It dump angle is pretty good too, I haven’t had a steep driveway yet. I do wish it had the scissor lift like yours but it’s only a 10k trailer. I will be adding sides and a tarp kit soon. I’ll have to keep this in brand in mind if and when I upgrade mine down the road.

    I had a pj which is identical to a load trail. Basically the same trailer made by brothers. Only complaint I had was the paint is horrible and starts peeling and rusting. I bought a new midsota for about 1600 more and far better quality and I got the hydraulic jack on it and the floor is 7 gauge instead of 10 plus a better paint job. So basically with the jack and better paint and heavier floor it would be very close in price if you were to upgrade the load trail with these features.

  • @michaelbaumgardner9493

    Good evening. Down the road, you can go to a upfitter shop,think of a shop that does dump trucks for state/county/municipal, they might be able to hook you up with a motorized tarp. 2nd option,go to a tarp shop get side extension's with a slip rail,that way no snags while mechanically retracting your tarp. Your extension's would be able to reduce the ballooned effect going down the road, slip rail would aid in keeping tarp from snagging, as itd raise the tarp 1-2" above said load.
    Again down the road. Million ways to skin a problem with a solution.
    I hear ya on the weld. Made me spit Pepsi out my nose,truth. Yeah it burned.

      Big Tex is junk! Load trails aren’t too bad. If you’re running skidsteers & mini excavator. Lamar, Diamond C or Iron Bull is the way to go.

      Im curious also what happened? I have 2014 16 ft gooseneck that I have beat on from day one. It has held up very well. It has a few things i would have done better, but overall a great trailer.
