It was Bishop Barron saying a line from Aquinas that sealed the deal on my wife and I converting to Catholicism from our respective Protestant traditions. The man is a first-rate theologian and evangelist.
What an amazing conversation between Evangelical-Protestant and a Catholic! This conversation is LONG overdue, and in my opinion should be repeated over and over…I believe the whole of the Christian world will be greater for it!

There are right times that are not just ordinary, not just a good break, but they are supernatural. Completely agree except for the last part. God is not "the most powerful force in the universe" as that implies some kind of competition between God and other forces. God is the ground of all being and has complete sovereignty over all creation.

I think one thing that blocks us from coming to the truth about Christ inside of us is our ego. I have found that waking up early, before my ego has a chance to put walls up around my heart, I can connect with God and hear him more clearly. So making time early in the morning in the quiet place with just you and God I believe is more important than most Christians recognize.

God bless you Bishop Barron and the pastor presenting who was greatly respectful of the Bishop and listened! We need (even us Catholics) more people like him. And for those that left the Church because "didn't get their questions answered", we are all responsible in cultivating our faith. That's why we will be judged individually. If we have time to go places, watch TV, we certainly have the time to study, research our Catholic faith. I remember when I was 14, a middle school friend who was Catholic changed to the Pentecostal church. However, she was the one who made me study at that age my Catholic faith, and although I couldn't convince her, no one could convince me that the Catholic faith didn't come from Jesus.
At some point, there will be a time in our lifes that someone will question us, and we need to be prepare, and if we're not, then we must.
Sorry but there's no excuse there.
Besides, learning about the faith, about God and listening to wonderful priests like Bishop Barron is a great privilege and the best way we could spend our time. God bless all. 🙏♥️

Bishop Barron, I noticed that same thing in 1978 when I came home to Chicago from boarding school, and the pews were so empty at Mass ... so I asked around, and many friends told me Exactly what you said, "I stopped attending and no one asked why ... " We need a buddy system in our parishes.

Re: beige vs non-beige churches, we quite likely respond differently even to the dirt on the floors. In a beige place, dirty floors make you think wow, they need to clean the floors. In a gothic cathedral or other beautiful church very well may make you think something like, wow, it is amazing; how many faithful have trod these floors in faith.
Bishop Barron is gifted with so much knowledge and wisdom, understanding, good counsel, fortitude, piety, and may God bless you always. You are always in my prayers.

I go to mass for the holy Eucharist. I do not go for a social club. I don't care if anyone says hello to me. When we have heads bowed and pray together the most sacred prayers of the church we are all united. It's not a feeling. It's pure beauty and power that is in the Catholic faith. My husband who was Southern Baptist struggled for 5 years with questions. He searched and read and read some more early church Father's and his questions were answered. Ask him why he's Catholic. He will say because it's the truth. The issues aren't I'm Catholic you are say Protestant. The issues are we all clearly are not forming our children's minds and hearts in what we say we believe. So let's stop trying so hard to get one over on eachother and practice our beliefs so that firstly our children will see this as important and necessary. When we choose sports or sleeping in and don't regularly pray or practice our faith and chalk it all up to oh we are "good" people we are okay we are setting the next generation up for a life of emptiness and so vulnerable to the world's answers. In our families. How does Christmas look. How does Easter look. How does our celebration look. If it doesn't look starkly different from the world then theaters is a real good tangible place to start. Let's take ownership of what we believe and at the very least teach our families what we value. I realize I took a few directions lol sorry for that but I'm not so eloquent. I am grateful for the talk above and the commitment to God from the speakers.

Evangelization is like spreading the seeds (God’s word) into a field, as in the parable of the sower in the Bible. Some fall in the right place and some don’t.
The Holy Spirit is constantly working in the hearts of people; Jesus is constantly knocking on the doors of people’s hearts. Some open the door and let Him in and some don’t. We, as believers can make a big difference in the way things happen in this world with our prayers. Our prayers can stop wars, bring souls to God or do anything that seems impossible for us humans.
When Peter was in prison, all the apostles were gathered and were praying for him and God released him from the prison.
I remember reading a quotation by a saint in a prayer book that goes, “God governs the world and prayer governs God”. God’s heart is too soft and tender to ignore our pleas “in this valley of tears”. We have to pray for the conversion of sinners and for God’s kingdom to come on earth along with those who are led by the Holy Spirit to evangelize the word of God on CZcams. We all are called to evangelize in ways that God presents to us.
May God bless all those who are evangelizing on social media and those who are fighting the good fight to build back all that satan is trying to destroy in the creation of God.

As someone who lives in California and isn't catholic but wants to visit a catholic church, all the churches here are embracing the whole no judgement, afraid-of-beauty, beige religion thing discussed in the video. Videos like this are the sort of intellectualism many of us want but cannot get from our current churches. We want to be taken seriously. We want the ideas to be taken seriously.
I came home to my Catholic faith 22 years ago after a 33 year lapse into evangelicalism , nondenominationalism and disillusioned agnosticism. May I suggest that you find an older church or better yet a Cathedral or even a monastery built before 1950 or so. Talk to a good and holy priest first if you can they’re out there. As you enter the Church be prepared to feel God’s presence there. The feeling is palpable for many who believe. Jesus is truly present body blood soul and divinity inside the blessed Tabernacle at the center of the altar most likely under a large crucifix suspended above. There will also be a small glowing red candle which shows the faithful that God is present in consecrated hosts and everywhere as a focus for adoration and prayer. Old church’s can have elaborate altars, columns, stained glass windows and confessionals which heighten the sensory experience. Just bask in the mercy and love of Jesus. There may be many beautiful statues of our Lady, the Saints or martyrs who remind us of our connection to the mystical body of Christ, who we are and where we came from as Christians all they way back 2000 years through time when Jesus walked and taught and established his church and where we are going when we enter into our glory to be with Jesus. With a little luck the smell of incense will be lingering in the air and there will be numerous lit candles the faithful Catholic offering prayers up to heaven. Try if you can to visit during a Sunday or even a weekday mass. Sit back and just take in the beauty and majesty as heaven and earth touch each other as a great cloud of witnesses worshiping together in the Divine Liturgy and Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Your first visit to a beautiful Catholic Church can be a memorable experience if you leave any doubts you have at the door. Let Jesus envelop you in his love and mercy. By the way in the greater San Francisco Bay Area and California in general there are many Churches available. Some of the mission churches founded by St. Junipero Serra have active parishes in them and are great places to visit. The old Cathedral in San Francisco is amazing. Good luck. God bless you.
I am a lifetime practicing Catholic now well into my 60s, but I understand what you're saying. I attend Mass faithfully on Sundays and holy days and wouldn't think of not going - I WANT to spend time dedicated in worship of our Lord. But yet...there is a sometimes palpable sad beige-ness present in the way the readings are proclaimed without enthusiasm or apparent understanding, in weak homilies, in uninspired adult education opportunities and sparse attendance even at the good ones, etc. I love the Lord and the church and will never stray, though I sometimes feel we have taken the greatest news ever told in the history of the world and made it--of all things!--BORING. 😢 The only suggestion I have is to keep trying different parishes until, with God's leading you via prayer, you find the one that's right for you. It's out there - don't give up! God has ignited your interest in the Catholic Church for a reason.
And keep listening to Bishop Barron and other strong Catholic teachers. God bless you!

Anyone jump in , I’m having trouble explaining the crucified Jesus to my four year old grandson. I cannot bring myself to explain such a horrific happening to his little mind. I’m still beyond sad that this happened to Him and I’m 62 . So , how do I explain, literally , what they did to Jesus? Thanks .
Many generations
of Catholic children grew up with a crucifix on every wall of their home, including hanging over the bed. In this age of ubiquitous news coverage, most all children will be exposed to terrible stories at an early age -- violent stories that do not end in resurrection. Tell the story with gentleness and confident composure. Read to your child from Holy Scripture, and Be Not Afraid. The Holy Spirit will give you the words to help him understand, without fear.
Please select a few beautiful colorful illustrated children’s books about the Catholic Faith, and read to your little one every day. Be appropriate to the age and innocence. As a foundation always remember you are teaching about someone Good, and that He cared for others.
At the tender age of Four your grandson may have experienced the death of a pet, so as long as he understands that pets die, and that crucially when people get very old, people die too. Then you could tell your sweet grandson that when Adam and eve ate that apple and disobeyed Gods command in the garden of Eden - THEY HAD TO LEAVE THE GARDEN - INOTHER WORDS THEY LEFT GOD`S FRIENDSHIP as they preferred themselves; and the very special spirit that made them holy left them. God then put everything in motion for his Son to bring the friendship of God and man back together by dying for every human being - as the gates of Heaven closed when Adam and eve ate that apple and when God`s only begotten son Jesus Christ the promised messiah died - The gates of heaven opened as despite being a very heart breaking dying it was the most special dying there could ever be. You may not need to go into the great detail of Jesus Christ our Lords suffering on that wonderous day with your sweet grandson being ever so young - you can go into those details when you feel he is old enough for that. There will very likely be a suitable Children's book that will explain everything to your precious grandson.

Others have provided wonderful suggestions for how to help you explain things to your grandson, so I will not address that. But I am intrigued by your statements, "I am beyond sad that this happened to Him..." and "...what THEY did to Him." What I'm about to say, I say with Christian love: is it possible that perhaps the reason you're struggling to explain God's plan of salvation to your grandson is that you don't fully understand it yourself? Jesus came willingly to earth to DIE for OUR sins that had separated us from God. It was the plan of His Father and he obeyed at great human cost to Himself out of love for us...yes, for us sinners! So what THEY did to Christ 2000 years ago on the cross is what WE --ALL of sinful humanity, past, present, and future--did to him, i.e. OUR sins put Christ on the cross; we are ALL responsible for his horrific crucifixion. Without Christ's crucifixion and resurrection, we would still be eternally separated from God. So although Christ died from an earthly perspective, He LIVES for all eternity, and therefore so will we who believe in Him. That's the fantastic resurrection part of the story that we can't overlook, i.e. the darkness of Good Friday was totally obliterated by the brilliance of the resurrection on that first Easter! Without the crucifixion--Christ's sacrifice for our sins--there would be no resurrection. So yes, the crucifixion can make us sad when we think about the awful torture Jesus endured, but it's not the end of the story - far from it: our hope as Christians forever lies in Christ's resurrection! The Transfiguration is beautifully described in the Gospel, but I don't recall the Crucifixion described with any beautiful detail.
I heard one priest saying in homily when gospel was Jesus walk on water, saying he didn't really walk on water just appear to apostles that He did I was confused why he doing it
Bishop Barron: "... that means there's an absolute objective moral criterion." I feel like this is a big deal.
We have to believe in a god we don't understand, and everything we say about our impossibility about understanding is to pretend we do understand and that is pretty much all that is written a pretence to understanding we don't have.
Something that resonated with me years ago was, "If we could totally understand it, it wouldn't be faith." Or another way to say it is from the scriptures (Hebrews 11:1): "Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." Outside of faith, in the secular world, there are many things we don't fully understand but accept anyway, e.g. good and bad bacteria that we can't easily see but we know can both help us and kill us; truths about the universe that we learn more about every day; etc. I'm sure you can think of many more examples yourself. The point being that we can never know everything; some things we must accept by faith...whether faith in science or faith in God, they're really not so very different.
yes people in church not friendly and cruel, I would be rich person if I have dollar for every time I said hi and not answer, yes sometimes I wonder what people do there,, but I tried to be with godless people new age and I could not believe what these people believe even they are friendlier, I wanted to know truth and never have problem with Jesus teaching

“The Devil’s masterpiece,” yes! That is exactly right. In fact, this whole sexualized age, especially this ‘homosexualized’ age, is the Devil’s delight. I think they were laughing at the idea of reading Aquinas' massive Summa, not John 6.
And perhaps evangelizing to Protestants to read about/study the Real Presence Eucharist
John 6 is the main biblical text used to explain Jesus' real presence in the eucharist. He was basically implying that you don't need to read anything other than the bible to explain the eucharist. The audience is familiar with the biblical argument and laughed.
