This video is all about the absolute basics of perspective drawing. We use simple block forms to help understand horizon, perspective points, and some common perspective problems. I had some trouble breaking down some of the concepts in ways that I was sure that everyone would understand, and I found an incredible video by Dan Beardshaw. Here's a link!

I cannot thank you enough for this. I didn't understand how the perspective line would change with different camera angles and I also didn't know the little trick for spacing out objects like the poles at 4:38 , so thank you for those tips! This video is really helping me rn, because I'm trying to draw a rooftop view background and well it wasn't going amazing until I saw this video.

So I have already watched so many artists talk about perspective and I understood the concept of it but still, it was hard for me to put it on paper. I feel the way David has explained all the points, especially thinking this from the camera's perspective, really helped me understand how it will look on paper. Now it is much easier for me to visualize it. so thank you, David!

I've found through much of my research on many topics that many people know their jobs so well they forget what it's like to not know and inadvertently leave out critical information. As boring as perspective points and drawings may be to a seasoned pro like yourself, I'm not a seasoned pro and you've helped me in that regard with its video. Thank you

    Love your videos.
    So informative with good examples.
Most other perspective tutorials are just like here is 1, 2, 3 point. Done.
The nuances, pitfalls, distortions, even literally showing where the head is looking makes things a lot simpler to understand.

i went through so many videos explaining vanishing points. they way overcomplicate it and you have made is super simple and logical and included little hacks and tricks/techniques simply shared and not done with a style of someone trying to overintellectualize it which is super common among artist culture.. Thank you!

Wow. I was not planning on watching this one because I thought it would be too basic based on the thumbnail. After skipping over it a few times I decided to watch it. Glad I did! Those portions about drawing the side of the cube smaller based on if they are closer to the vanishing point caused a lightbulb moment for me. I was wondering why my boxes never looked quite right. Now off to practice this.
I can’t wait for the next video because turning the boxes is also something I struggle with. Thanks so much. I always enjoy your content.

Hey David, thank you for this ❤️
I got a question about 1 point perspective (I'm still watching the video so if you actually answer it I'll delete this question haha) :
How do I make sure all objects are correctly aligned on a same plane (say I want the objects on a table, ground or imaginary invisible plane below them, how do I make sure no object is extending too low on the z axis, so low that it would actually pierce the table if it was real)
Again thank you sir for the great tutorials and livestreams. Your art AND your teaching skills are both amazing.
