Studying Bridgmen for Figure Drawing
This video is all about studying Bridgman's Complete Guide to Drawing From Life. This is part two of my getting started learning to draw comics series, so if you haven't watched part one, I highly recommend that you watch that first. Bridgman is the foundation of my figure drawing, and this kind of study, whether from Bridgman, or another source of your choosing, is an essential part of your development as a figurative artist.

I feel like I can draw what I see very well… however, I’m looking to get better drawing from imagination.
Thank you man you helped me a lot!!
the most useless video ever, I searched for "how to draw bodies" and I get this guy describing what he's drawing with speed 1.25 or x2
You have the right idea, using little mannequins to help, it’s actually more effective than wooden figures.
Hey,David, who was your favourite female character to draw? Batgirl, Catwoman, or Spider Woman?
Hey Dave! Would you do another "artist study" on Dan Mora?? His comic art is awesome!
Make a part 2 please!!!
very good tq sir
David if you took a year to hand paint a comic, the original art sales alone would pay your bills. I would love to see it, your mixed media paintings are magical.
Will you please remind the names of The brush pack!
David, It should say, "How To Draw Comics The Jack Kirby Way". A lot of the format and dynamics came from Kirby. It's what made Marvel, Marvel Comics.
recently noticed how Frazetta would use very soft pleasing colors for the foreground . the eye being attracted to the subject without strain. really helps induce a smile
Do you know where a 3-D model that you mentioned could be purchased?
amazing artwork
the marvel way how to draw I use own that book given to me at school as a reward for good behavior and it was good until i find out that you don't want to draw the marvel way you want to draw, your way! you know like todd mcfarlane! so don't get pulled into marvel's style and the way they do things, it would be the biggest mistake as you won't find your own identity in an already fierce market in the comic and as an artist! your artwork must be unique to you! it's what makes you! like it made todd. you don't even need the books you draw something everything day and everywhere you go eventually your going to gain experience and your mind will tell you different ways to approach this and give your own style along the way! this is no different from the way that your mind gives you a new and more better way to sweep the house now some get it faster other it could take a slower time even years to change an old habit but once you do your be wondering how so many years of doing it the slow and not smart way as pass you? but it will reward you with something and that is wisdom. something you get for being old you would dominate in that specific area. like someone who's been drawing feets wrong there whole life would dominate in that area way more than others! this then becomes your style and or signature!
This resurrected the kid in me. 🫶🏼✊🏽
What kind of pencil is this?😅
Hi What kind of pencil is that? Thanks
I dont wanna daw comic dudes, I need to learn how a disproprtionate skinny monster like Dore, but I suck
Just to be clear, you were mentored on illustration by Mark Silvestri? If that’s true, it’s no wonder why you are so skilled.
Thank you so much ❤
Thank you so much❤
Your magic lead holder is more than amazing
What’s the song?
Master at work. So impressive with the pencil
Where can I find this pencil ?
I found this really helpful! I've been struggling a lot lately, hitting a plateau, tried a bunch of different videos but not making much progress. But I tried to quickly follow along with your examples, and actually felt like I got better with each one. By the time I did the last one, I was pretty happy with how it looked! Even gave her arms, with the left one doing a hitchhiker thumb down by her hip, right mostly tucked in front of the torso, and an outline of her head peeking over her left shoulder. The hardest part for me has always been visualizing a pose in my head. But I think I need to get better at basic anatomy and figure drawing before I can really focus on that. The "bowl" shape helped a lot as a starting point to build around. I've been absolutely confounded with how to construct all of those shapes around the hips. Thank you, I think I finally found an instructor that meshes well with my learning style, and the style of art I want to do.
What brush set is best for colors ?
The best since Looms
Yoh, thanks Marcel
Thank you, I am one step closer to drawing Tracer getting DP'd in her poop chute by two gigantic Mitachurls.

Fantastic 😊
Good,good,good,good,good,good,good,good
As a self-taught artist sometimes I really struggle with proportions. But thanks to you, I'm learning so much, and it's becoming easier every day. THANK YOU.
Vken is great, dude. Love his work and gives me the michael Turner vibes. I have a MS. MARVEL sketch from nycc i think 2015. Great stuff!! Keep it coming.
awesome stream David and everyone 🤓
Ken was over the moon you had him on the show Dave, we are both big fans!
i totally missed this one :,(
Guys I'm going to learn how to draw hands, but in a much simpler scheme. Should I start trying to draw something like this complicated, try to master drawing hands, or I should come back to this video later when I'm done with other body parts (Im relatively new)

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👊🏾👊🏾
I can hear and feel that DD trade screaming in anguish. and pain!! LOL
5:05 Is it wrong that I don't actually give a shit about how many heads tall a character is? I just can't seem to break that Rookie Wall or whatever, I just just opener up to giver 'er, and ai don't know why. How many heads tall just doesn't seem that important.
