"IT'S OVER!" The USMNT Needs to FIRE Gregg Berhalter After Embarrassing Copa America Failure!

  • The USMNT became the first host nation ever to bow out of the Copa America in the group stage and this golden generation has regressed under Gregg Berhalter since their Round of 16 appearance at the 2022 World Cup. Re-hiring Berhalter was a mistake, and now it is time for the US to go after a massive name like Jurgen Klopp or Pep Guardiola to give this group a real shot at glory when they host the 2026 World Cup.

As usual, USA (not USMNT) missed an opportunity. Firing Gregg on July 4th would've been symbolic in a way that would've created good will with the fans, who have been repeatedly slapped in the face by USSF.

Who do the US get to replace him? Bear in mind whatever you offer them you have to pay the womens coach exactly the same. It pretty much counts out you getting any top tier coach. I’ve heard some calling for someone like Klopp. He would probably demand somewhere around $15/20m pa for two years. Are those in charge willing to agree to that and then have to pay the womens coach the same? Not likely. Looks like you’re stuck with another mid tier coach until that caveat is removed.

The USSF reminds me of the WNBA. They keep blowing golden opportunities because of their own faults. Now that we have the best roster ever, (some call golden era), they go and rehire Gregg. The WNBA has failed similarly for many years but now they have a superstar to make things much better, but they squander it because of hate, jealousy and hypocrisy. As an American, Ive seen too many times where we get in our own way from success. The USSF will probably do it again because they are incompetent, corrupt and compromised. No wonder the USMNT never gets the big wins or respect. Gregg Berhalter wanted to change the way the world looked at US soccer. Well, he succeeded because they are laughing at us more than ever. The USSF & USMNT are one big joke!

Sorry Marsch said he took the Canada job because they didn't demand a MLS agenda. USA has Milotinavic in 94 and Klingsman. We don't have US coaches that can implement a winning system that is adaptable. This is a massive opportunity in 26. GGG is not the guy.

There’s a bigger chance of Pep Guardiola going to Mexico than the United States. Let’s be realistic and get someone obsessed with this sport and national teams. I know he’s a bit rough around the edges and might be too much for some, but he knows how to turn a team around. Last time he faced a similar situation, he did a much better job than expected. Despite negative press before he took over, he proved everyone wrong, and the team played as they should. Can you guess who I’m talking about? I’m talking about Miguel “Piojo” Herrera. I feel like he will push this team to play hard and reach their potential. People might hate him at first, but he’ll grow on them just like he did in Mexico.

Klinsmann didn't get any further than Bruce Arena en 2002. He kept lambasting the US mentality of play. He said multiple times he was going to inject a "winning mentality" and what did we get? A losing mentality strategy defending against Belgium for 115 minutes....after he left Donovan and took Wondo (to missed the winning goal at the 90 minute on that game) and end his sad tenure losing the game against Mexico 2-3 in L.A on 2017. What a record!!!!!!!

I dont think we necessarily need a foreign manager. I believe every single WC winner had a coach of their own nationality. We just need a coach that has coached at a high level, is a winner, and has a history of making their players better. Gregg never won anthing anywhere... never even won an MLS Cup... was bounced out of the second division in Sweden. He isn't even one of the best American coaches.

Highlighted numerous times by media you tuber pundits calling for only players from professional European clubs should be on the USMNT because they are better-quality players. The chicken came home to roost because all of the starting USMNT players played in Europe during Copa America and didn't qualify for the knockout round.
That is a myth the facts are that regardless of what league a USMNT player plays in whether it is MLS, ELP, Bundesliga, or Series A if you are not in form and getting quality minutes you should not be called up to compete in a major tournament such as Copa America or the World Cup.
Gregg Berhalter was not prepared to bring in players who were in form getting quality minutes playing should have been called up regardless of leagues they play in.

It’s a mediocre roster competing in the biggest stage against teams that have had a system of play for at least 100 years. The delusion of US fans is ridiculous. We’re a concacaf team with no youth system only a pay to play system and we are shocked that teams with soccer heritage and real world soccer stars are beating us. With the exception of Panama, I would been surprised if the US would have made it to the 2nd round. Also, getting a superstar coach would be a waste of money. Put that money on youth soccer and player development for the future. This generation of players have peaked already.
