If there were authorities in the stands managing it, that’s a different story. What if one of the fans had a weapon? There were no police there for ages.
The precedent set and any consequences should be burdened on the organisers of the stadium and not the players.

The whole theme of families’ lives being in danger… there is zero evidence this happened. Plenty of evidence of Uruguay’s directives throwing things to the crowd from their private balcony. It seems irresponsible to poke the crowd and then scream victim. How about throwing glass bottles from the field to the stands? A Uruguay player threw one and hit a Uruguay tech in the head ( can’t make this stuff up!). And Núñez trying to throw a chair to the stands, not defending anyone then. If fans are attacked do they have a right to defend themselves as well?. So maybe the whole story should be verified before the fans are solely to blame.

I think you're partially correct. I live in the US. I've been to games, and security isn't as tight as you see elsewhere because they view sporting events here as a "family" event. They don't expect it to be a "war," like Frank said, about a football match. In American sports stadiums, home and visiting fans sitting next to each other is normal. That's because usually, more often than not, the American fan treats a match as a family outing. You could call it being more passionate or more serious about your team, but football fans sometimes do treat it, like Frank said, like a "war," and that means that you're gonna get into heated situations with opposing fans. That fact and the fact that stadiums in America don't have a separate section for away fans or separate opposing fans could end up being dangerous. I do agree about the VIP seating. We have suites in these big stadiums. They should have one reserve for the family of each team. But like Ale and Herc pointed out on another video, CONMEBOL, the organizers, won't do that because they're looking to sell that suite to a millionaire that will pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to have that suite. The players and their families will always come last after money and gains, unfortunately.

However I don’t see fifa or something allowing him to get off Scott free. I’m hoping he won’t get banned for more than a couple of games, but he did actually connect with a punch.

All of this can be managed better, including the flow of alcohol during matches and preventing intoxicated persons into the match. World Cup tickets are now electronic. just build into the system that each ticket is permitted no more than 3 beers and have the ticket scanned when you buy beer at the venue. Problem solved for alcohol.
