Dr. Harnet teaches you how to do Business in Africa and make smart investments on the continent during a recession the RIGHT WAY. - Zábava
What a pleasant coincidence, as I am currently in the process of starting a brokerage/import-export business in East Africa. My company was approved just last week.
Keep up the amazing work, you are a true inspiration.
-Your biggest fan from EAC
Congratulations on your new company, dear Anthony. This is fantastic. My advice to you if you are doing this for the first time: Start focusing on ESSENTIAL products that are needed during a recession and focus on trading within the EAC trade block until you get some traction in. Then you can expand. Wishing you all the very best!
Congratulations Anthony!
Would you be open to start a discussion?
Already into import/export myself and would like access to EAC

Thank you for your reply.
It is indeed my first time.
My main focus right now is directed towards export, with my first commodity of choice being coffee. I am planning on adding more commodities in the future, but I need to take it one step at a time as you brilliantly said in your video, since different commodities bring different kind of problems to solve.
My business competitive edge is my strong ties with one of the fastest growing coffee consumer market right now --CN.
Hopefully you will get to hear from me and "Africa Konnect Limited" in the years to come as one of the major trading actor in the EAC.
@@anthonyaliassime7425 Wow, fantastic! Yes, please keep me updated so our community can learn from you. Would love to hear more about your progress any time you are ready, since trading is a key aspect in our Africa Business Jumpstart community and I run a related online program. @@dr.harnet466 I will make sure to do so. Thank you very much.
Great video. One of the issues I've also found is that it's simply more practical to export products rather than import, simply because of the paperwork. A number countries have a ton of hurdles when it comes to business licensing, taxes, VAT and other issues, so that when importing, you may pay an additional 40-50% just to bring the item into the country. From there, because of the markup, your prices may simply not be practical for the local market.
Well come back Dr Harnett. Great to see you doing what you do best..Operating from Mozambique focusing on Export.
Thanks so much, Berhane!
Nice to see you Dr Harnet. God bless you for the hard work to teach us. Thank you you.
Many thanks. Grateful to God to see your health is bouncing back.
Thanks so much for your kind words, Peter.
You are the one and only in the horn, Dr Harnet/ጥበባዊት ሐርነት። When I was in Rwanda, I bought 10yards fabrica and took to the local..., they made for seventeen children and myself very beautiful dresses, when saw people buying old rigid...very disappointed! Eritrea doing better than the rest of Africa..., because they are practicing self-sufficient, the way we grew up, please understand me I am not supporting the leaders, I am expressing what I am observing...
Currently importing a design concept into the us from Kenya, which is at its grassroots in marketing development but has great potential. The mere fact that we are providing income to artisan groups of women is motivating us to the next level of our own warehouse. Your videos are top-notch and greatly appreciated ❤. Be well! Thank you 😊
EXCELLENT information!!! 💪🏾♥️🖤💚💛 Would love to learn more about African owned food processing/manufacturing technologies, to the extent that they exist. Actually, Black African owned manufacturing technology companies in general would be extremely interesting to know about.
Another delightful day, a video from the beloved Dr. Harnett. Much love!
Thank you for your kind words, Panafrocanam
Very informative, I can’t wait to put it into action. Thank you.
Glad you found it informative, Edward!

Thank you so much, dear Ahmed.
great informative video. thank you!
Thanks for this ❤
Thank you for this video! Im happy the work you are doing ❤❤❤❤
Makes a lot of sense..Thanks for this breakdown...
Awesome.
I could relate to what you said.. But most African countries, if they are to compete at the international space, need to depend less on hard paper currency, and work with direct banking transfers, where money is exchanged electronically.. It's one of the things of modern banking that's of critical importance to sustain and boost business
Good point, Wrik. Indeed, many smaller traders are 'underbanked'. But the bigger manufacturers and exporters all sell via international bank transfers / wire transfers.
@@dr.harnet466 perfect! This also means, the next financial revolution, the next step for entire Africa, from consumer to SMEs, need to get connected via online banking (esp. Instant money transfers, etc), so that trade picks up in general.. I would also recommend that you look at some of the developments in India's banking sector over the last 10-12 years, to know, where Africa could have it's next opportunity, and perhaps even suggest that to your audience..
Very informative. keep it up
@8:33 Thank you for this great video! I teach Geopolitics and Regional integration in Africa.
In my view, it would be better if African countries processed their minerals locally (yes, it is expensive) than exported them raw. It creates more jobs and brings in more revenue. Zimbabwe, Namibia, and Guinea, for example, have come out in favor of resource nationalism
I do believe if Africans seize this political and economic change this is going on around the world, the present and future of Africa is bright. Saudi Arabia is accepting Kenya currency for oil, while China and Saudi Arabia are trading with their local currencies. Africa needs no convince China to accept theirs currencies and that will be a game changer since most of our import come from China. EAC needs their unique currency as well as West Africa needs theirs. Thank you

@@dr.harnet466 I have question how can find buyers for my red peppers 🌶️ to export globally?
Mrs Harnet! its nice to listen to You! Have You been considering east countries of europe as a great market for fruits and vegetables from Africa!
Thank you for this. Are you able to do a video on navigating corruption you come across. BTW I detect a Dutch or German twang to your accent?
Hi Imran, interesting idea! I have gone into detail into this topic during my UK / USA boot camps.... never thought about making a video. Put it on my list for consideration. Thank you!

Hi D harnet how are you doing l just want see Rwanda and l grow up Eritra farming
Would be nice a video about the Gambia
I've bought your book africa 101 book. It's an interesting book but not really practical guide. I'm meaning it's most simple words. How we as non africans can trust in investment in Africa. How its working with laws etc. I've tried figure out with website. I'm interested in disability questions. It's very difficult to find good information. Thanks!
I say conquer BOTH.... BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
The Mother Continent, in my opinion, Best to have Their own Hard Currency such as the Golden Dinar Initiated by the former Libyan Government led by Col. Khadaffi. His Demise will not be in vain!(Collective West on Notice), Aerospace, Automobiles, Food Stuffs, Technology. etc.. Mother Continent Should be Bread Basket of the World, no reason not to.
Dr Harnet i have a plan to do busiess in Precious stones in Africa
What could u advice me
Hi Mahmud, great to hear! It may be a valuable business if you have a high-end market (so selling to the rich), as gems will not be high in demand during a global recession. I would also make sure you start in a 'low risk' country when dealing with minerals (as minerals are high risk in Africa), so for example: BOTSWANA is a good country to get this started.
I have access to gemstone if you are interested from East Africa
Hi, saw a video and you talke4d about knowledge based business ... im a digital marketer, film maker and master brewer of beer ... I want to move back to the continent ... Ghana ... Uganda or Kenya ... what's your suggestions? and do you do in person consults?
Kenya pls you can brew Beer for my customers
Dr Harnet..I am qualified nurse newley migrated to Ghana. Just wondering of you have any ideas on how to utilise my medical skill?
Dear Mina, one of the best business models I see for your expertise (without breaking the bank) is to start a business consisting of a group of nurses & care givers to attend the elderly and many sick people of any age...who are stuck at home. You need to focus on the upper class in Accra, as they have the spending power to pay you. Many are too old or chronically too sick to make it to the doctors regularly or to care of themselves. Family members are also burdened. This is a business model I have always been passionate about (especially now, after being housebound for close to a year myself due to illness) and there is a huge lack for such services in Africa and the world. Hope this helps. Let me know.
Do you have a few reputable manufacturers of hygiene and products such as shampoo, soap, lotion, etc?
Yes indeed, Heat Anthony, via my second business www.mykibo.com - all suppliers have been vetted. Hope this helps!
