- Of course, Porsche came to the EV party first with its more powerful version, the oddly named Taycan Turbo S. I say oddly, not because of the word Taycan but the appending of the word Turbo. There are no turbos, only powerful electric motors working together to create instant forward acceleration. The car that you’re likely to see far more of though, is this one here… this is the Porsche Taycan 4S.
It’s the entry-level one, though entry-level here means a starting price of $105,000 and 522 horsepower. It also means proper Porsche driving dynamics and stunning style. And this "base" car isn't quite so "base".

Got a Gentian blue 4s today. They are right, the car is AMAZING.
When Porsche makes a car........its on a different league to Tesla in terms of quality. Range, build and drive is awesome. I drove a taycan turbo.......I can't afford it to be honest right now...but I am definitely gonna afford it. Life changing speed.

Porsche puts their money into materials, cornering, top speed, and build quality.
It just depends on what you value.
Also, despite what he said, Tesla has faster 0-60. Just 0.1 faster, but you can see it in the drag races. Tesla starts out faster, then Porche reels it in once they get about 80, giving Porche a narrow win over 1/4 mile.

My son has one and I had it for one week and it is really smooth easy to drive . I was intimidated by it initially but got used to it very quickly. The touch screens were a little confusing. . There is no way any Tesla can equal this car.

Taycan 4S is the only Porsche car I have test driven. Though I cannot afford it right now, but I’m definitely going to have it soon.
Former Designers poached from Mazda have designed the Tesla vehicles. It’s Obvious that the EPA tested the car with Winter or Death Valley temps. in mind

I like this car BUT this was just another fan boy rant. @ 3:32 look at that door panel fitment. Look at that chinsey looking screen in the lower half. Great car really but I see fault here and there like most cars. To bad these "reviewers" gloss over things especially that price to value.

The reporting for this car is so lazy it's disturbing. There are videos out there already showing the 0-60 is the same as the Model S, not faster. It's also shown that as of a few months ago, the Model S can now do repeated launches from 0-60 (and the Model 3 always could). At this point, anyone talking about that as some kind of advantage with the Taycan is just repeating Porsche's marketing bullet points and not researching anything themselves.
The Taycan is a cool car, but I'm starting to lose count how many reviewers don't do any of their own research to learn about how it compares to Tesla.

@@almac9203 I'm not a fanboy. I have a '21 Taycan Turbo S on order and I own a Model 3P. There's just too many reviewers doing a shitty job reporting news and doing their own research like they should be, instead of parroting back the latest marketing talking points they're given from the manufacturer.
There are legitimate advantages that the Taycan has over the Tesla, and it's a reason why I bought one. Repeated launches and a quicker 0-60 isn't it.

@@almac9203 You can doubt I have one on order, that's fine, they're expensive. It doesn't change the fact that what I said was correct: This reviewer didn't bother to actually check the 0-60 times or the repeated launch claims. That's lazy reviewing.
What he should have focused on was interior refinement, handling, ride, exterior looks, higher than EPA rated highway range, charging times (equal to tesla v3), customization options, and everything else that makes it a fun car to drive.

Most think they have joined some virtue signaling special club because they own a model 3 which is laughable. I think this review was spot on and I am pretty sure same day same road the Taycan bests the Tesla every time. Perhaps you could test the Tesla against your imaginary Taycan to verify for yourself which is superior.

The Taycan has received rave reviews already by numerous owners; prospective owners; reporters; enthusiast, and pessimist (including vs Tesla) alike. This guys within the normal range with his. He's far from an outlier. This is especially true for those who really liked the car, which he appears to. You probably, just don't like the fact he called out Tesla on their [usually] bogus range claims. But I hear ya.

The Porsche is a niche car for those with large incomes. The price is stupid high and Tesla out techs it with no problem. Real Porsche owners will not buy it because they are petro heads. The drawback is the price. It will sell like the BMW I8.

This guys review is quite normal for this car. Reviewers and Porsche owners alike usually both love and appreciate the Taycan (many who are current, former Tesla owners).
Sorry. Tesla's old Tech. The Taycan's heavier, though handles better, with a better ride. On top of that it's faster in every epoch with better braking; steering; cooling; regeneration and feel, while charging faster with similar real world range.
Even Porsche's full Inno Drive suite, is better than Tesla's Auto Pilot in many respects, according to those who drive both.
MSL525 what about the price? U can get a top model s for the price of 4s. Most importantly, the charging system that Tesla has

I just outlined above why the Taycan cost more. So, that's no surprise. The Taycan cost about the same as a Panamera, and it's a completely new vehicle and tech. So, it's not overpriced for a Porsche or in their lineup.
Yeah. Telsa's charging Network's great. However, their service and reliability is not, not always. So that's a trade off indeed.
Tesla's a great car no doubt. Just different implementations.

The Porsche may be a better drivers car but Tesla has more of a mass appeal which means it will sell more cars and that is why the Taycan is a niche vehicle. As far as charging goes, how many 350 kw chargers are there? The ones that are out there cost more than gas. Tesla still has more chargers and they cost less to use. The Taycan is a 4 seat sport car with a subcompact trunk. Again...a niche vehicle.
Maksim Bogdanov IMHO the Taycan is still a much better vehicle. Better looking, much better build and paint quality, and a more prestigious brand. I get the arguments for the Model S but for my money I’d take the Taycan 4S. I’d also like to point out that Porsche has the highest resale value amongst luxury brand (KBB) and JD Powers has Porsche listed as one of the most reliable brands along with being one of the most desirable brands.
Even though how nice the interior is, it still has inferior LG pouch-batteries and motors from another company. It doesn´t matter how nice the interior is, when the fundementals of the electric vehicel isn´t Porsche. And when people will understand that all the legecy automakers just assemble other companys parts - and don´t really know battery chemestry and BSM software, they will get how far ahead Tesla is everyone else.
And that price - wonder how many cars less Tesla will sell because of the Taycan?
You do have a fair point. But I don't think people would buy a Taycan only as a daily driver but more of a weekend warrior. If you are only talking about pricing and driving range (as in the longevity of the battery), that's not what Porsche is for anyway. The sport element (handling, limitless launch and etc,.) is what makes a Taycan different from the Model S. And of course the sales of Taycan won't beat the model S. Their customer bases are different in my opinion. Though they do get compared a lot because not many good and fast electric cars are out there for the reviewers to even make a meaningful match.
Porsche does not make cars for the average joe, but for rich people, and they have a very loyal customer base. Their customer base also very particular. They want exclusivity. They don’t want just anyone being able to afford a Porsche. If you want an affordable EV, then you need to look at a Volt. Porsche is not the brand for the common folk.
Tesla is a cheap pos. Build quality issue's are still rampant. And Tesla batteries are developed through a partnership with Panasonic. Now please remove your head out of your ass.

Overpriced? Porsche has over 30K deposits for the vehicle. It would be over priced if it was a Tesla Model S which can be seen by their declining sales over time. Hint the value/price is determined by demand and Porsche can clearly demand the price you think is overpriced. That means it’s outside of your means not overpriced.
