Easy to recommend the more expensive option, if you got it for free for a youtube movie and not actually buying the car yourself.
If you really need to pay for it yourself, you'll be much more concerned about doing a good deal.
In my opinion, if you aren't planning on driving on the track, a 0-100 time of around 5s is more than enough. It is way faster than anything else on the road. Especially electrically: you floor the 'gas'pedal much more often compared to an ICE car, because it isn't so noisy.
I can afford the 4S, but I ordered the RWD. Much better value for money.

I disagree on my part. I feel every Porsche should feel fast and the Base just doesn't. It feels slow. I always have wanted a Porsche and couldn't bring myself to buy a car, which is much slower than my earlier M3:s were.
Now 51 000 km later in my 4S couldn't be happier. Have had twice as a loaner from Porsche a Base and there is a big difference.
But I understand fully, that for some people the RWD is enough. But better value for me definitely the 4S and it's not even close.

How low the seat is depends solely on the seats you choose. Both cars are available with the small battery as standard. Even with the large battery, the seat height doesn't change. Other than that, I do wonder about the bottom line, because for $23,000 more, you get virtually nothing out of it except better acceleration. Which is just the difference between very good acceleration and even better acceleration. If you are missing the air suspension, you can order it for very little money. I drive the base model and can only recommend it.

I was planning to order the Base about a year ago. I did testdrive the 4s and it felt fantastic. Just before I was going to order the Base I was lucky to get a press car for a testdrive. I was quite underwhelmed and disappointed. Coming from an E92 and F80 Competition the Base felt too slow for me so I had to put 20k eur more into the 4s.
I could not be happier, the car drives like a dream even in snow. Main negative is quality of full leather which is qualitywise not even close to the Merino my M3:s had. And there are sone software issues. But as a whole I am supperhappy, have driven it now about 18000 km. If you have the money buy the 4s. For me it was a nobrainer.

In my humble opinion, 4S and RWD are not in competition but both cars offer a different driving experience. I live in the greater Atlanta area where open roads are scarce and traffic sucks, the RWD Taycan will fit my needs.

Very fair comparison. I agree with you - the 4S is just more fun. Unfortunately I cannot afford a 4S but I will order a base Taycan soon. You can still make it a special car if you choose the right options like air suspension, Bose sound etc. I think a well equipped base Taycan is a better car than a 4S with no options. Plus I think you get used to the acceleration and the Taycan beats any other car in terms of design even at 0 speed.

We can order for 2023, it takes 18 months...haha.

I would 100% go for the base car with next to no options. I think if you feel you need relentless shove or a ton of options to enjoy what the Porsche engineers give you in the chassis, you're kind of missing the point. That the base car is simply RWD just adds to that fact. It's all personal choice though, in my opinion there is no definitively better car, but one car may be a better car for you and what you need to be happy. I'm happy with simplicity and an easily exploitable chassis...hence me having a 2.7 987 Cayman. Nice comparison 👍

Good video. I bought my 4S before the base Taycan came out, but I still would have went with the 4S. You are right, the options on these cars will drive the price up and if I had got the base, I could have put much more on it to get to the price of my 4S and I think that kinda will be the reason many will chose one over the other. I love the power and wouldn’t want to give up any of it, and could i have swung it, would have gone for the Turbo trims, but that is just a lot of money that i could not justify. This is a great car at all levels and an awesome Porsche vehicle!

Good video. I test drove both the 4S & the RWD (both great cars). In my opinion, the RWD with sport + 93kw battery really didn’t have much of a difference than the 4S. I agree, the regenerative breaking is not so good, especially if you compare it to Tesla’s. The fit and finish was great, but the rear diffuser & side panels are plastic 🤌🏽 Yes you can upgrade them to carbon fiber etc., but your adding a lot of money for upgrades. I also believe the Taycan is built for Porsche customers to get them into electric cars.

The optional Performance Battery Plus will deliver nominal power of 280kW and up to 350kW." ... so it's actually a bit faster, but for some reason 0-60 times are identical. For a daily driver I'd go for the base model with air suspension, big battery and sport chrono package (mainly because it also comes with a better/thicker steeringwheel).

Good video however its subjective to equate the $20K+ bump in price as worth it for the 4S, unless you have data on which has higher residual value. It is worth it to you, but for my purposes, it would only make me catch up to traffic quicker. I am coming off owning a 911S the past 12 years, and drove the base model Taycan. Its enough for me. I will take your advice however and NOT drive the 4S, instead putting that $20K into killer options.
