- In the Settle Plate Technique, petri dishes containing culture media are exposed to the air for a given time in order to collect biological particles which “sediment” out and are then incubated. The bacteria-carrying particles are allowed to settle onto the medium for a given period of time and incubated at the required temperature. A count of colonies formed shows the number of settled bacteria/fungi-containing particles.
