I totally agree with you, I've never shot a Deer beyond 30 yards. So much can go wrong with any type of Archery equipment.

God tells us they don't have souls. If you think they do and kill them anyways, you may burn in hell. Don't believe in God? Remember that there's rock floating around space that spawns sentient life. Don't burn forever, brother.

In my opinion, the new generation of bow hunters have forgotten (or never learned) what bowhunting is all about. I started bowhunting, not to see how far I could shoot a deer, but to see how close I could shoot a deer. My longest kill shot ever was at a decent 7 pt at 42 yds, but I’m more proud of the several does that I’ve shot almost straight down. If people want to shoot 80, 90, 100 yards, why not just use a gun? Again, just my opinion. I could be wrong.

Your absolutely right. I get just as if not more shook up sometimes waiting on a doe closing the distance for a bow shot then shooting a big buck with rifle. Both are awesome. But the skills are different.

I have a ravin r20. I’ll go up against anyone out to 100 yards.... But won’t shoot past 40 at a deer. We owe it to the deer to make it as fast and harmless as possible. I agree with this message.

@@homelessmattsmukbangsof course deer don't have souls. Nobody does because souls aren't real - and God didn't tell you anything because God isn't real either.
I know you haven't even read your Bible because nowhere in there does it say anything about animal souls.
You're just regurgitating what some preacher or your parents told you at some point, and they were full of it.
Hunt responsibly because it's the ethical and kind thing to do... Not because you think animals so or don't have souls or based on some archaic beliefs that you're apparently getting second hand from someone else anyway.

Sorry but I guess as a Canadian, most are looking for ways to compensate for the impending confiscation of hunting rifles... We have a blind that's a heavy, insulated, re puoposed fishing shack. It's set at 100 yards from the feed sight and perfectly set up for rifle hunting. Need the tractor to move it.
But still' I thank you for for your honesty in this! ☺

I have taken shots at deer at 62 yards but they were relaxed and i had shot my crossbow at 70 many many many times and knew exactly how long it took for my arrow"bolt" took to cover that distance and i knew that the deer in my area weren't pressure that much. Most of my shots are between 10 and 45 yards but i will take a shot at 60 if the animal and the situation is right. I will not try a shot on an animal part 45 if they are on edge or look like they are ready to run. The doe i shot at 62 was a perfect heart shot and she didn't go 20 yards and expired. I do agree that a new shooter should keep shots within 45 yards but i have been using the same crossbow for 6 years and i know it inside and out so i feel comfortable with a longer shot. Vertical bow is a different ball game and i won't take a shot past 30 anytime no matter what

my grandfather has a ravin r10 and that thing is so slim and whenever i hunt w it i look at the 100 yard pin and i think how at like 50 yards they look like ants. crossbows are amazing and the technology nowadays on thems is amazing. but this year is all bow for me

Fred Bear shot long "there's no meat on the table if there's no wood in the air" quote from his book. I shoot. Period. First whitetail I shot was a 82 yards with a vertical bow , double lung. I have taken 7 moose , 16 whitetail and 2 black bear. We eat what we shoot.

Yrssss ago I shot a deer at 60+ yrds with a cheap Walmart recurve crossbow, felt like it took a good minute to hit the deer, lol. The deer flinched stood back straight then... Whop! Heart shot. I got lucky. I was a youngster still. But man did that give me confidence in that cheap crossbow. Deer only went about 30 yrds.

Most of my deer are taken within 40 yds, however, I have no issues at all taking them out to 70 yds with my Ravin 29X Sniper. I practice a lot and that bow is fast and accurate--I've never hit anywhere but where I have aimed...all clean kills. My last three three bucks were at 55, 60 and 70 yds. I would not hesitate to shoot a turkey out to 100 yds, though my longest bird was about 50 yds. Make sure you have a good rest. FYI, with previous compounds and crossbows, my max "ethical" hunting distance was 40 yds.

Most ppl today lack the moral fiber to pass on those long shots. At the same time, those ppl lack the ability to close the distance. So many ppl want to talk about their comfort with their setups when discussing long shots. That's the 1st sign that person doesn't know what they are talking about...

I can’t believe so many commenters claim they shoot 50-100 yards at deer. So many things can go wrong, wind, sound, a deer just deciding to take a step. The difference between a clean kill (what the deer deserve) and needless suffering is just a couple inches. So many unethical, impatient hunters.

Just took a buck Saturday at 61 yards. Ran 20 yards walked 25 more and dropped. To me 200y shooting with a 22lr normal. 1 mile shooting is normal. Train hard, train often, know your conditions and your prey.

I definitely would shoot a deer at 100, if I had rangefinding hash marks out that far (I max out at 60, and have taken deer that far) my setup is so quiet that deer just stop and try to figure out what that funny sound was. And my fletch setup sounds like a bird flaring its wings to land so they dont spook at the sound of the bolt coming at them.

30yd for traditional bow, but the luxury of a crossbow is having that longer range. Iv been using one going on 6 years now. I range shots within 50yards. Never more than 55yds max.

Ive harvested many deer at 40 and 50 yards. I'm confident with my compound at 50 max.. It's knowing your ability and knowing you'll ethically harvest .. If you uncomfortable absolutely do not..

The truth is "Bolts" were literally nothing like modern crossbow arrows. It's wrong imo to call them bolts.

  • @Anomaly.Filmworks

I shot a buck the other morning from about 15 yards. There was almost no space between the sound of the shot and the whack from the hit. I hit in the left shoulder and it blew a hole out the right. He ran maybe 10 yards and crashed. I've hit bullseyes target shooting at 70 yards standing and the bolts were buried in the target to the fletching.
    Power to distance ratio.

  • @jakebowden4325
    @jakebowden4325 Před 8 měsíci

How can you call it a bow. Because it shoots and “bolt” it’s not an arrow and a broadhead. Let’s not try and make it something it’s not. A cut .410 shot shell with an arrow stuck down the barrel and broadhead on is a bow also. Or an air bow? Face the facts cross bows are an easy way out for people that wanna call them selfs bow hunters. What is comes down to is people are lazy and do t wanna put time in to practice. Common response from them well I do t have time to shoot, but they have time to spend in the bars and out partying all summer. The cross bow should be for the true disabled and the elderly. Not people that are just lazy. Prove me wrong please, go ahead and try.

It’s a crossgun, it’s not a crossbow, it’s not archery. Its like a dude who sucked at men’s sports then went and competed in the women’s league. That’s what every person who shoots a crossbow is doing.
