Gamzee is actually a pretty sad character, he is a bard of rage, bards are about passive destruction and corruption, hé tried to be a good person, hé tries to destroy the rage that was corrupting him by eating slime pie (basically doing drug) but when he realised it was his fate to be a chaotic being who would destroy everything, he embraced his nature and accepted it, I'm pretty sure he suffered from lying to himself on who he really was and someday he was done with suffering and decided tu fully become The bard of rage hé always was

me and my girlfriend were actually talking earlier about gamzee and i told her that i've always had a headcanon about gamzee's freak out. i've always had this headcanon that gamzee was going through extreme withdraw for years of eating his pies then all of a sudden just not eating them anymore that alone would cause violent mental breakdowns, seizures, and violent sickness, but here's where the kicker of the theory, i have a feeling gamzee was going through the purple-blood version of puberty (which kinda adds to my theory since highbloods are instinctively more violent and easily angered). troll puberty is usually around the 6-7-8 sweeps of age i wouldn't be that far of a stretch. i think purple bloods have a very different version of puberty then the rest of the spectrum. from what i hear highbloods in general are naturally violent so just like any other puberty Moodiness, Emotional changes, Anxiety, Irritability, Clumsiness, Increased libido (sex drive) but the thing is what would a highblood do with a average human puberty? there called highbloods for a reason, there high and mighty there not average so why would they have an average puberty? purple bloods are known for being insane not fuchsia bloods not indigo bloods but purple bloods themselves are infamous for being insane so add all being a highblood, being a purple blood, going through an extreme withdraw and having nearly all instinct kicking in all once, adding on all the physical stress and pain that comes with physical and mental puberty and years of drug use would cause that level of freak out. i may sound a bit far fetched but it makes sense to me, and no i'm not trying to make excuses for gamzee. murder is murder and it's not ok but i hope you enjoyed my theory anyway~

As a Terezi kin, Gamzee is probably the most interesting to me. He was horrible and abused her but it wasn’t entirely his fault. All of his actions were aided by sobriety. It’s a very tough situation

Lil Cal is a fucking bastard that ruins to the core the minds of those who had a misfortune of having him. Of course I *don't* justify those dudes, I just want people to keep in mind that Bro, while being rough and stern to begin with (we can see it in Dirk's traits), would never become so absurdly cruel and abusive if not Lil Cal distorted his mind. Though sometimes crossing some lines (like building Brobot the way Jake couldn't handle him in combat and always had his ass kicked), Dirk still genuinely cared about his friend and deeply regretted hurting them.
But Bro wasn't an evil person on his own. It was Lil Cal's (and, by extention, Lord English/Doc Scratch's) influence that turned him into this. Even Dave understood it at some point, though not fully.
When it comes to Gamzee, the situation is the same. He was never himself, he wasn't given the opportunity to create this "himself". He was either high on sopor and thus not in his right mind, or mind-controlled by Doc Scratch/Lord English through Lil Cal and turned into cold-blooded (hehe) murderer.
After meteor's arrival to alpha.kids' session he was again mind-controlled by Aranea, and the only time we saw the actual, the real Gamzee is just for a few seconds when Terezi was beating him to death. Other than that, there was no time his real persona was ever shown.

What I'm driving at is not convincing y'all to forgive those two, no. Everyone has their own right to judge them how they feel is right. I, for example, can't forgive Vriska for what she had done to Aradia, Terezi and Tavros, even knowing that she was partly guided by Doc into doing so. I only want y'all to pay more attention to how influent were Doc Scratch and Lord English and how *every* fucking bad event that happened throughout Homestuck was calculated and inspired by those two.
Lord English is a pure evil, and not only he physically destroys universes, he also shatteres people's minds so they would make fucked up decisions that would cause more destruction. If Bec Noir is a cancer for a universe, then Lord English is a nuclear blast.

Ok... so about a couple years ago I was on youtube watching a My Little Amnesia (cringe I know) speedpaint. It had this song and I was like "Hmm... I like this song! Lemme check it out!". Now you may be angry at me for this, but I had been TRYING TO AVOID HOMESTUCK! So when I saw so many gamzee results I was like, "...oh no...". But since I liked the song so much, I listened to it, over and over and over again. Eventually, I started getting recommendations for homestuck songs and other homestuck stuff, and in my head I was thinking, "What's the deal with homestuck anyway?". I was also obsessed with rebornica (when that was their name) , and they wanted their followers to check out homestuck. At this point I was fighting the urge to watch homestuck things and read homestuck, but I was curious, so I watched know your meme's video on it. At this point I was REALLY curious, so I started to watch homestuck related things, and even tried to read it. First impression for the web comic kinda bored me, so I decided not to read... for a bit... I went back to watching comic dubs, animations, cosplays, and other stuff about homestuck. Eventually I had learned A LOT about homestuck... pry too much to know before reading the actual web comic. But I fell in love with it... and I felt like I finally found another fandom to escape to when bored or sad or just felt like checking stuff out. So eventually I decided to watch the "Let's read homestuck" series... still not done with it. But anyway... now I wonder... "Why was I avoiding this?"

It is stated many times in the web comics that highbloods (blue shades and up) are naturally more violent. It has also been stated that the Makaras are all insane. Take Kurloz as an example, he is calmer and much more subtle, but he has the same psychopathic motives as Gamzee. The sopor pies and faygo kept him essentially tranquillized so he never really showed his true nature before he ran out.
