Are you considering getting the all new 2023 Mazda 3? While the new 2023 Mazda 3 has proven to be very popular, great to drive as well as amazingly designed inside and out, it definitely has a few flaws that you should definitely be aware of. We’ll be warning you of a few issues you must know about.
Lacking a Manual Option
Mazda vehicles tend to have good driving dynamics, and that's true of the 3 hatchbacks. Its above-average horsepower as well as acceleration make quick work of merges and on-ramps. At the same time, proper feedback from the Mazda 3's brake pedal adds to a sense of control during its usual driving and confidence during panic stops. And the same goes for the steering and handling. But it's not very thrilling.
Even the standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder at its test track impressed with a reasonable 8.2-second sprint to 60 mph. At the same time. The optional turbocharged 2.5-liter engine has a whole new ballgame, whittling the 0-60 time down to a more competitive 6.1 seconds. It's also a refined turbo, with minimal lag and an abundance of readily available thrust. But Mazda fans are not impressed by the fact that Mazda does not offer the Turbo with a manual option, which is a real shame given that changing gear manually is part of the fun for driving enthusiasts.
The Turbo of the new Mazda 3 might sound like a performance model on paper, however it's no Mazdaspeed3 revival. And yes, the Turbo is noticeably quicker in a straight line and it makes a nice growl, however the engine is lazy. It prioritizes low-end shove over a sportier race to the top of its line, along with the six-speed automatic isn't a quick shifter.
Moreover, the Turbo's suspension is said to be only changed to account for the extra weight of the Mazda 3's Turbo powertrain. It then ends up riding a little firmer however handling a little worse than a non-Turbo car because of the smallest sensation of front heaviness which is not experienced in the naturally aspirated version. The Mazda3 Turbo is still an excellent handling and driving car, just don't expect anything as serious as a VW Golf R or GTI.
Disappointing Fuel Economy
The new Mazda 3 AWD may be more fun to drive than the new Subaru Impreza, however it does lose the fuel economy battle. And there's no point in comparing the 3 AWD to any FWD compacts, as those typically get better fuel economy as a rule as they're driving only two wheels. Also, its EPA ratings come in at 26/33 mpg city/highway, against the new 2023 Impreza's 27/35; in the Subie's favor is the fact it's lighter, with a smaller engine, and it uses a more efficient CVT automatic.
Small Cargo Space
Both the hatchback and the sedan have small backseats for the 2023 model, and despite the hatchback being shaped for more excellent storage, the cargo area is small, and the Sedan can actually hold more. They're all space and utility related. Sure, you can toss down the seats in the hatchback for a lot more room, but it's a less-than-ideal car for a four-person trip with luggage.
With some of these drawbacks, car experts still highly recommend the new Mazda 3 to anybody who asks. Even though this design might be five years old at this point, it's still the most appealing compact car you can buy, and its interior design remains unmatched at this price point.
Sedan or hatchback, rear legroom is the same at 35.1 inches. That could be better for the compact car class. The Hyundai Elantra, for example, has 38 inches. But that may be fine for many potential buyers.
The hatchback can take more cargo and has some passenger and luggage versatility. Behind its rear seats is an area of 20.1 cubic feet; the Sedan's trunk volume is 13.2 cubic feet (a cube shy of the Elantra's, by the way). With the hatchback's rear seats folded down, the maximum space is 47.1 cubic feet.
One potential reason for not choosing the hatchback is its wide rear pillars create blind spots. However, blind-spot monitoring is standard in the 2.5 S Select trim, one up from the base model.
Average Interior
When speaking of practicality, the Mazda 3 has plenty of it, with a roomy, well-crafted interior and easy-to-use features. There's an impressive 38 inches of headroom and around 42.3 inches of legroom in the front seats, along with a more-than-adequate 37.2/35.1 inches in the back. The Sedan offers a decent 13.2 cubic feet of trunk space, but families and those with an active lifestyle will want to spend the extra $1,000 for the hatchback and its 20.1 cubic-foot cargo area. Many experts also noticed a rattling noise in the back when they run at over 2000 rpm, which is a big reason why many experts haven’t liked the new Mazda 3.

I didn't buy it yet, but I might, I will decide within the next 2--3 weeks.. the reason why is cause 37k for a hatchback makes me consider buying a rav4 instead which it'd be much more comfortable, but its a different category lol. Gotta do some thinking before making a decision for sure.

I own a 2023 mazda 3 hatchback and it is an amazing vehicle. It's fuel economy is great and also its sleek design to go along with you can park it anywhere. The size is perfect for my everyday use. I would recommend Mazda to anyone I know because it's a great overall vehicle.

Funny everyone complains about the fuel economy. After a few months my fuel economy is literally exactly the same as my buddy who has a Toyota. I think there is a lot of money trying to limit the impact mazda will have over the next few years. Mazda should be the most popular car in America.
@@Viodoxy Yeah been using for months and it's the same as the Toyota I drove before with similar engine capacity. Fuel economy is partly the vehicle, but most importantly the driver using it. Best part is that I can choose to save fuel by driving economically or speed up when fuel economy is not the first thing in mind!

Not having a touchscreen is a huge + in my book.
I second this, my Mazda 6 2016 has similar controls and looking to possibly upgrade to the new Mazda 3 and it so much more useable to use the center for controls instead of trying to fumble around a precise tap on a screen - the center controls are not hard to use - the video's comment on preferring touch screen vs physical knobs is a weird take.

Nah man, especially when you’re dealing with apple car play. You still have to look at the screen for long periods of time to see where your knob is scrolling to and then where it’s clicking. It’s far more distracting than just a touchscreen. The least they could’ve done is make both optional so you can choose which you want to use.
Trust me, touch screens would be bad. It requires more processing from your cerebellum than the knob. You need your cerebellum more for the road…

Hit 60k miles with my 2021 turbo 3. Haven’t had a single issue so far. Still runs like it did when I bought it. I really like the simple and sleek interior. It’s all held up great. I got an aluminum cover for the piano black surfaces in the center console and door handles it looks way better and matches the Bose speakers. I’ve been able to take it up to the snow a ton last year and it does really well with the right tires. I’ve been really happy with this car and plan to drive it for as long as it will move.

@@Peace22_I have turbo hatch. I’ve had the cover and seal replaced as it cracked around my vvt solenoid. They replaced with warranty no questions asked and it’s been good since.

Everyone is slamming Mazda for eliminating the touch screen. They did studies that showed when people go to use the touch screen they also tend to move to the right, which according to Mazda can be a safety issue. That is why the removed the touch screen use in their cars. I think its a great idea as I have had cars with touch screen and it is a distraction!
Personally that old touch screen was a deal breaker for me when I've looked as the previous mazdas. So glad it's gone I will test driving one now with intent to buy. Thank you Mazda

I was worried about the blind spots until I test drove the car. They are absolutely a non-issue with properly adjusted mirrors and the blind spot monitoring. I really like how the blind spot system shows in the HUD too.
Um no. Properly adjusting the mirrors does not fix the blind spots. They are still present.

This car is amazing in its own right, trust me Mazda is reliable as any other Japanese car out there. I Had one for 5yrs without any issues. Regular oil changes just replace the battery once and that's it.
The fact that the design is 5 years old and still the most appealing in its segment is a testament to the old adage, "If it ain't broke, dont fix it".
Mazda for the win! Mazda makes great vehicles, and I would purchase a Mazda 3, hands-down, over any of the other compact brands in this class. I purchased a new 2005 Mazda 3 in 2005. I kept the car until 2013 (8 years). All I ever had to do to the car was regular maintenance. I traded the Mazda 3 in on a new 2014 Mazda 6 in 2013. Same thing with the Mazda 6, nothing but regular maintenance for 6 years. In 2019, I traded the Mazda 6 in on a new 2019 Mazda CX-5 Signature model. The CX-5 is still going strong today with nothing but regular maintenance and a few "fun" add-ons. Needless to say, I am a die-hard Mazda fan.
During this time, I also owned a new 2018 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS (my 5th Camaro in my lifetime). Let's just say that while the Camaro was a blast to drive, the build quality and reliability was nothing close to any of the Mazdas that I have owned over the years.
I highly recommend Mazda to anyone that asks, and I get a lot of questions and positive comments about the CX-5, especially regarding the beautiful Soul Red Crystal Metallic paint.
The 2.5 L turbocharged engine is night and day more fun to drive than the normally aspirated engine, and so worth the extra money. Just know that while the turbocharged engine is a quick accelerating torque-monster, it is not a 7,000+ rpm race engine. The engine actually red-lines under 6,000 rpm, but there is hardly any turbo-lag at all. The engine is sort of like driving a higher-revving diesel engine. Drive a Mazda equipped with the turbocharged engine, and you will experience exactly what I am talking about for yourself. The lower ratio (higher numerically) final drive gears in the Mazda 3 hatchback (and the CX-5) vs the sedan model also help immensely with acceleration.
It is also nice that Mazda still uses a real 6 speed automatic transmission in all of its vehicles and not a breakdown-prone CVT. Although a 6 speed AT is a bit dated these days, when most other vehicles are using 8 and 10 speed automatic transmissions, the transmission still does its job very well. A 6-speed manual would also be nice in more than 1 Mazda 3 trim ootion, but unfortunately for us old-school driving purists, the manual transmission is going the way of the dinosaur.
The only area that Mazda is "lagging" behind other vehicle manufacturers (and I use that term lightly) is in the technology options. However, I always purchase a vehicle to drive first and foremost, not to watch movies or play video games. Why do I need an ugly 10+ inch infotainment system screen, unless I am legally blind? At that point, I probably shouldn't be driving anyway.....lol. As long as Bluetooth, SiriusXM, and Android Auto work, I am a happy camper. The Bose stereo also sounds really good, but honestly, I have heard better stock factory stereo systems over the years (it lacks bass even with the separate subwoofer). The "upscale" Interiors of Mazda vehicles are also a real plus, especially in this price range.
All I can say is that if you are looking for a fun and reliable vehicle at a decent price, then I highly recommend giving any Mazda model a try. No, a Mazda is not a Porsche, but on the other hand, a Mazda won't cost you $100,000+ either, and you are still getting a great vehicle. 👍 👍
UPDATE: We recently purchased a brand new 2023 Mazda 3 Carbon Edition Hatchback to go with the 2019 Mazda CX-5 Signature. The CX-5 (also purchased new) only has 13,300 miles on it now, so it is still like a brand new car. The Mazda CX-5 and the Mazda 3 are both great cars! 🚗
I couldn’t agree more on every point! As I read this whole comment I thought wow these words could have easily come out of my brain and mouth. I’m on my 5th Mazda. I currently have a leased 2021 Mazda CX5 GT, and a 2016 Mazda 3. I’ve had older used Mazdas from my folks as they are die hard Mazda owners since 1989 with a 626 LX. I love mine! I’ve owned other makes and the Mazda always feels more refined and well put together. I’ll continue to buy them. I don’t want a CVT.

The price point was always good and I feel there is quality in what they do. They are a little more fun to drive than comparable Hondas and Toyotas. Now every kind of car is getting expensive. It is. Mazda 2023 hatch owner experience: sophisticated yet fun, elegant and practical. I'm an ex-2019 Dodge Charger owner and in all honesty I love this Mazda over the Dodge. Driving this Mazda is about enjoying the experience or 'Jinba Itaia' as Mazda calls it. It doesn't matter if you're not the fastest, you're fast enough and that's good. You enjoy the drive instead. Perfect in both the city and for a weekend getaway.
Exactly. I don't need a 300+ horsepower engine but at the same time I don't want a slush bucket that a lot of other makes/models provide with a smaller 4 cylinder engine. Even worse are the small 4 cylinders with turbo's that get about the same horsepower as the mazda 3 but then you are rolling the dice for when the turbo goes out after the warranty ends and the small engine will be dogged out as well.

I completely agree, my 24 year old boy Honda has 200hp, 9 more than a v4 that will get almost 10mpg more at City miles vs my average of 18highway(cause it's so old and inefficient). It seems plenty fast which as a v4 is quite impressive and without turbo will be an easily fixable engine in comparison
Mazda is pretty much my go to brand if i need an affordable car. The biggest reason is they don't use those awful cvt transmissions that toyota and honda uses. I will never buy a cvt.

CVTs are fine to drive, very smooth. I drove them all.

@@paranromallover4543 I drove several Suzuki Ciaz and one Honda Jazz (all with CVT) all over Thailand (around 12'000 km in total) and I was very happy with the cars. I don't know what "droning" you heard, but sounds more like engine noise as the gearbox does not make any sound. Taken that experience into account, I still love stick shift cars the most. They are so down to earth.
I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. I have a 2023 NA Mazda 3 premium manual for 8 months now. The only issue I have with the car is the ride quality due to the torsion beam suspension. However, it is not enough of an issue for me to complain about it since its only an issue on TERRIBLE roads. I would give this car a solid 9.2/10 and one of the best cars on the market for the price.
out of all the small compacts I would take the mazda3 all day long hands down.

I have a 2017 I bought brand new, and I have had zero issues with the vehicle. It has 95 thou km on it, and only thing I've had to do is oil changes, general maintenance and replaced the rear brakes. Still running the OEM front brakes. Car has been absolutely excellent. I am currently going to purchase a new 2023 sport now as my wife drives the 2017. These are excellent vehicles that rival the quality and reliability of Honda and Toyota.

I'm super happy with mine, I can jet around and don't get judged for having a "hot hatch" in a professional environment. It's elegant and zippy.
This makes no sense and I chose a Mazda3 AWD Turbo over a GTI. The Mazda looks better, yes, but if anything it looks *more* flashy while the GTI can blend right in as a regular hatch really. And if someone is going to randomly judge people based on what they *think* is a "hot hatch" they are shallow idiots who you never know which way they lean towards anyway. So it's really only what *you* personally think/justify, everyone's opinion is going to vary, so just drive WTF you want and just don't do ricer mods or loud exhaust.

My 2006 hatchback thinks she’s a little rocket. Especially when I had new spark plugs and a fuel injection done with her. These cars are just plain fun to drive regardless what year. I’ve taken good care of her and stays in the garage. She looks remarkably new too at 17. I’m very attached to her.

The rattling in the back is the scissor jack handle. I put a velcro strap around it. Problem fixed.

I just leased a 2023 awd turbo mazda 3 hatchback and I LOVE it. I knew it was small / tight but i didnt care. A lot of these things you should know ahead of time and wouldent make me “avoid” purchasing.

I put on corksport lowering springs and sway bar and get better tires. It changes a lot. Had a 2012 mazdaspeed 3 and now a 22 turbo hatchback, for me it's faster then speed3. I throw the car in corners hard and it responds well, the awd helps. Who cares about the touchscreen lol and space, it's a subcompact car and not a mid size

Proud owner of a 2011 CX-7 Sports with 285K miles. Only one water pump,brakes,batteries, oil changes and two headlamps. Still going strong and no issues.
Had an 05 hatch and didn’t get rid of it until last year! No issues. Just bought the 2023 hatch premium and/ turbo and same thing… love it.
For the price point, Mazda3 is a great deal especially if you get the automatic transmission. The competition offers CVT junk! I’ll never get a CVT again - I have a 2015 Subaru Crosstrex that is on its 3rd CVT with only 85,000 miles. Pure junk! I have been very happy with my 2017 Mazda6 and 2019 Mazda CX-5. I’ll stick with Mazda thank you…😊
I bought the Mazda3 Premium Hatchback with MT. It is a blast to drive. Handles and accelerates very well. I get around 33 MPG in mixed driving. Great car! I will never get an automatic CVT again. My 2015 Subaru has had 3 transmissions! Mazda all the way… Zoom Zoom

just based on the one screen text overlay that says lacking a manual option, you do clarify in the audio that there is no manual option with the turbo. i own the 2023 non turbo manual that is only offered in the highest naturally aspirated Premium trim. it is a nice option but not sporty and not mazda zoom zoom. would be better if mazda offered a stick shift in the base trim but more manufacturers are moving away from this like with the recent subaru crosstrek or impreza models. thanks for the insights in your video

Hey great video as I'm to shop a new sedan since my lease ends in a few months. The Mazda 3 is one of the cars I'm interested in. Mazda decided to use knobs and dials more because of safety. You can adjust whatever you want to adjust without looking in the screen when you have dials and buttons that means you are more focused on the road than looking at the screen.
I can’t speak on the newest ones, but I’ve fallen in love with my parents’ 2017 Mazda 3 hatchback. Its looks, handling, comfort, and excitement are all far better than the much more expensive Nissan Maxima rental I’m stuck in for now, despite Nissans claims of a luxury sports car
I don’t typically like modern cars, they all look the same to me, as far as performance you don’t get much under 50k, and they’re the heaviest they’ve been since the 1970s. The Mazda 3 is relatively light, it’s decently quick and handles wonderfully, it has a very distinctive look with the classic hatchback shape that so many other cars like civics have abandoned, and the aggressive looking front end
While it wouldn’t be my first choice of all cars ever made, when it comes to cars made in the last decade or two, it’s the first one I would consider buying. In fact I might have to see if I can buy that one from my parents.

I still own my 2006 Mazda 3 hatchback and love this car so much I can’t let her go. I looked at the new ones and I personally don’t like the design because the sleek smooth sides are an invitation to door nicks from other cars parked next to it. The rear visibility was poor, at least for me, but regardless they are still great cars. I’m looking forward to the future designs to be better as far as design, but you can’t beat their good reliable engines. If you maintain them as you should, they will last a very long time.
People needs to understand Mazda is focused on certain customer profile, mature that apreciates refination and some good power, not for fast and furious fans, far better quality than an average sedan or hatchback...
I have this car. I bought it as a daily coming from a 2016 Audi RS7. I paid 28,415 msrp for the carbon edition with red leather and bose. Comparing it to the elantra, civic, altima, this is the best choice. Even the brand new car smell hinted at better quality materials than when I sat in the Nissan which smelled like recycled plastics and chemicals. Of course everyone has their preference on interior layouts and exterior looks but trust me this car gives you a lot for your money. Everything is easy to use and the only downsides from car review companies are useless tech like a screen for a gauge cluster and touch screen interior controls. Buttons are just better. The fuel economy is the only thing some competitors have it beat for. But who cares about 1-2 mpg when your sitting in something that is more comfortable and just better quality. I liked it so much that I spent two days polishing it and ceramic coating the exterior, interior and windshield for protection. I'm so happy with it I might even consider spending 2K for PPF on the front which I normally wouldn't do for a daily driver.
My family currently owns 3 Mazda's...2010 Mazda 3, 2014 Mazda CX-5, 2017 Mazda 3 Hatch...LOVE THEM ALL. This is the ONLY car brand we will buy.

Switched from GTI to a 2021 Mazda 3 hatch premium. Yes, i lost some horsepower, but I what I gained is so much more. The quality, craftsmanship and reliability give me so much confidence now. I went ahead and paid the extra 2k for extended warranty, free windshield replacements, free key fob replacements, dent fixes. The design is much more sleek and grownup looking. I will always love GTI, but my pocketbook is finally happy.

So I went to test drive, Impreza, Civic, Mazda 3, Elentra, Corolla, Impreza, Forte. All are very similarly equipped. Now mind you that I drive S4 however, this is for my daughter going off to med school. Guess what I decided. Mazda 3. I was always big fan of Honda before buying German cars. I owned several civics, accords and acuras. But, I was very surprised by how well built Mazda 3 was. It was as nice as my Audi S4 inside. And Mazda had most power out of all its competitors. Again, I am not shopping for top performance models but mid of the pack. Features and how fit and finish was better than the Civic. Which I was disappointed to see uneven panels on the body.
So, to me, you just hate Mazdas. If so, just say it without doing this stupid reviews which doesn't make sense. You mention BMWs to Mazda??? Come on...
I bought a gorgeous white 2019 hatchback premium edition with the gorgeous red (darker than what's on the new versions). It was incredible. Not a rattle or squeak after 33,000 miles. I traded it in for a 2023 cx-30 awd turbo premium in dark Blue. Drives nearly the same, shorter wheelbase. Easier to enter and exit. Same interior layout but with white seats and brown/black leather. Drives like a dream. Powerful acceleration. We also have a white cx-9. Same engine but fwd. Love Mazda.
Disappointing fuel economy? Are you kidding me?
I get over 40 MPG / average 480 miles per tank in my 2012 Mazda 3 first gen Skyactiv automatic. So it is a huge drop in fuel economy due to AWD and especially the AWD turbo (to be expected). Compared to other cars in its class, those do get better fuel economy. And looking at all the hybrid models out now, mid side and large sedans are easily getting over 40-45 MPG while the small Hybrids are around 50 MPG. That's huge.
At least with the turbo it's true. I get about 19mpg in city driving. It has a small fuel tank size too.
As a huge Mazda fan (have owned many of them over the years) and also a huge hatchback fan, I adore Mazda's unique take on a premium compact hatchback. The only real competitors are the Golf and the new Integra as far as nice hatches go. I've also owned a few GTI models and would definitely keep this at the top of a short shopping list, but with prices for fuel being so high, it's a shame Mazda doesn't have a more competitive drivetrain option. Honda and Toyota are releasing compact models that easily get 35-45mpg and Mazda struggles just to break 30mpg with these 2.5L engines. And the new Prius will be drinking everyone's milkshake because it gets crazy mileage AND it's also stylish now.
Enthusiasts may be interested in manual transmissions and turbos, but regular buyers are considering efficiency more than ever and in a market swimming with crossovers, people have very little incentive to buy one of these beyond its unique appearance and rareness. Mazda is sleeping on an opportunity to compete with something that's both fuel efficient AND stylish with this car and I'd love to see them offer a version that's less of a torque monster that can do 40-45 mpg to compete with the other Japanese brands.

When car manufacturers didn't change a thing about these cars for 4 years straight, it's pretty damn obvious it's doing well and has good reviews.. and I know that showrooms have shortage and have to wait 3 to 4 month to get a Mazda 3 😂❤

Hi, I have a 2016 mazda top spec which I bought new, please consider your options carefully before buying. Don't rely on looks. I have had a few issues with my mazda 3 that the dealership refused to fix for free in spite of the warranty. Currently there's my tensioner that needs fixing, mazda fixed it for free about a year and a half ago, but the same issue is happening and now they want $800 to fix it. There's also my starter motor that they say is noisy and reccomend that I change at the "low" price of $550. Last year I changed my serpentine belt at mazda for the "cheap" price of $650. I love my mazda and the way they drive and always drive it very conservatively, but for the sake of my pocket, my next car will be a toyota.

Battery is shit. Just bought a new one, 360 miles... and battery got drained (how is that possible that fast???).
Impossible to start the car, impossible to jumpstart it, even with professional assistance coming with very powerful jumpstart kit.
The software got all wonky and have to bring it to the dealership, and then the worst:
Despite being a brand new car and me being a brand new customer, Mazda Roadside Assistance is a piece of shit too. They won't cover anything beyond 20 miles from where you are, they are not helpful and they want me to pay to tow back my car 200 miles away, not mentioning that we have to take trains to get to where we MUST be tomorrow.
Be aware > very poor customer experience if ever you inherited from a faulty car!
I dont really like turbo.. it lessen your engine durability.. turbo nowadays is really fun to drive.. it it wont last long.. i know mazda knows what there doing.. its more on reliability and durability.. like what toyota had been perfecting tru the years with their toyota camry, build to last..
The 2023 Mazda 3 Hatch is my third Mazda on 18 years and before that I always had Toyotas. I am a devoted Mazda man nowadays and I would not consider any other brand. Mazda is well ahead of the competition.
I can agree with the first 3 arguments when it comes to the turbo model, but fuel economy in the N/A version is excellent. As for the other 3 arguments this guy is out to lunch, its one of the nicest interiors out there in this price range, its classy and not over done like many other things. The technology aspect is a personal preference, i love mazdas choice with the dial and quick access buttons to important apps. It also got upgraded connectivity in 2024 with wireless android auto and apple carplay. I also dont like having everything controlled through a screen where if it glitches out i cant do anything with my climate control. Then there is RELIABILITY of things being questioned when this engine has been around for a decade or more and it has been extremely reliable; like i said i can get storage space (its a sedan/hatchback ffs), fuel economy (in the turbo model, there is no cylinder deactivation, no Start-Stop, and its of course TURBO), and no manual with the turbo model i can agree is a bummer but everything else is grabbing at straws that either arent even there or is a straw of personal preference. The only thing mazda had against them in the last 10 years that i can recall is electrical issues in the Third gen models which have since been resolved.
I'd be very careful purchasing a new Mazda. I bought a new 2022 Mazda3 in 2022, the premium version from Safford Brown Fairfax Mazda. The leather on my driver's seat is changing color, and it has been a month of back and forth between Mazda and the dealership. After submitting numerous pictures and with the dealership's internet not working, Mazda does not want to take care of this. They are saying it is normal wear and tear, and my car is STILL under warranty! Might be heading to the BBB soon.
do you do basic upkeep? my car is also a 2022 and besides my greasy steering wheel and scratched piano black it looks basically the same as it did when i got it.
another thing is the sun? sunlight will cause fading and extra wear over time. id recommend a light ceramic tint on the windshield or a sunshade to block some of the rays and the heat.
@lmcg0710 No car's leather interior should change colors, especially before the warranty expires. This is happening on the driver's seat that receives the most use which obviously is a sign of poor quality. My 2018 Mazda3 with the same color and leather interior never did this, and I traded that car in with 40k on the odometer! It was Mexico built and this one is Japanese built which as someone said could be the reason for the issue. Very disappointed for a $30k car.

CVT's are worst beeping tranmissions out there.... the reason it gets better milegage is because you can't accelerate... if you try to accelerate on a cvt.... it goes into this weird no man's land of constantly changing gears that it is the equivalent of putting a car into neutral and pressing the accelerator..... top that off, CVT transmissions are not repairable.... they are full replacement only..... transmissions are of the most expensive parts in the car... so it can't be repaired, it goes into neutral into a weird neutral when you to accelerate and it's an expensive part to replace, and because it's full replacement only, it is terrible for the environment... I don't understand why everyone compares thing's to a shite CVT transmission.... if you want to compare it to a proper transmission, compare it to the gold standards.... the ZF8 automatic and Porsche PDK....
I bought one when it first came out 2019. Still driving it, like the interior and exterior. It is a good car, but not perfect . Some people complain about not having fog lamp. Like it though. Blind spot , not an issue, awd is an asset. The only issue is maybe the fuel economy and c pillar.
There is a manual option just hard to find. I've driven them myself, but they are rare and sell immediately.
1) the FWD models come in manual.
2) the fuel economy of the turbo isnt that bad when you stop comparing apples to oranges. the size of the tank is what makes it feel bad.
3) the interior is ahead of its class in the 25-35k dollar segment. there’s nothing “average” about it.
4) the infortainment is worlds ahead of any touch screen system i’ve ever used.
my old mazda had a touch screen and i’ve never used it because the controls are simple and intuitive. there’s quick buttons that take you to pretty much any menu that’s frequently used and i can use it without needing to draw all my attention to it. whats the point of putting your phone down while driving if you’re just gonna start using an even bigger and more distracting screen?
5) mazda is literally one of the most reliable car brands today. you made a point to not buy a car solely based off of speculation that’s the 2023 model doesn’t have a reliability rating. it is the exact same car as in 2019. using a power plant they’ve had for years.
It has never been promoted as a hot hatch.
I have my Mazda 3 2015 and it is very reliable car which i'm using until this year 2023. for a years past it didn't give me any headache which is Alhamdulilah.
Thr only downside is you have to wait a few yearss before parts become available. I waited tfew years before third party suspension parts became avaible for my 2015.
I prefer the center console knob and buttons over the touch screen. Saves you the trouble of lurching forward in your seat to try and touch the screen etc. When you can just rest your arm naturally on the center console and still do what you need to do with the infotainment.
Not only that, but I’ve also had issues with my 2015 mazda 3 touchscreen where it would have phantom touches and go crazy selecting things randomly. Kinda like if you had water on your phone screen. I’m all for the exclusion of a touchscreen.

Wtf. How do you compare the fuel economy for a CVT vs. a true 6 speed auto. This is about driving pleasure. If you care about 2-3 mpg you should buy an electric car.
I've extended my lease for this car with another year...there's nothing better out there right now. price/ design/value wise that is.
Touch panel is useless and dangerous. Not having a manual a flaw? Love automatics and it also has paddles or centre console change abilities.
