    He remembered every person's voice,players stats in sports,tell bills by touching them,Pitches of "noises"...and loved Paps blue ribbon!!!

      His party trick was asking someone to take all the coins out of his pocket and toss them onto a table. Just by hearing, he could tell you how much there was. I forget which musician said it but someone said jokingly of Tatum's hearing that Tatum could pick out the dominant chord of a flushing toilet.

    Am I the only one here who likes Art’s recordings from the 50s a lot more than his earlier work?

      He was certainly a more mature and introspective player in the 1950s. Beautiful music. Just beautiful.

      It kills me he died so young. As full blown as his technique was from the very beginning, his expression deepened in his years. Just another decade and who knows what he would've done.

    I love that repetitive 11th note (B) that sibgs over those fat F# minor 11th chords in that 7, 3, 6, 2 progresion
