I love how Art really gets down on this Blues, even plays some Delta type sounds like Robert Johnson. He lieaves a nice amount of space too.

Of all of Art’s versions of Sweet Lorraine, this one is arguably the most masterful, and the crescendo is superb!

No one cares how you got here.. This beautiful recording is Art Tatum and Roy Eldridge. They are playing the 1935 Duke Ellington composition In A Sentimental Mood. Other wonderful versions include Sonny Rollins with MJQ, and Ellington with John Coltrane. Art Tatum sounds like he has three hands as usual, so fluid and lively. Nice rendition of this tune.

Practice gets you so far but to become highly skilled at your craft you need natural talent to, and with piano you need to be blessed with having ideal hands to play really well.

He is by far the most brilliant.

Unfortunately, Art Tatum isn't available to negotiate a peace traty.

My favorite version is still Richard Dowling's mellow and flowing version from his Rhapsody in Ragtime album, but Art Tatum gets an easy second in my eyes, being the first to record it on piano. I wonder if Dowling got inspiration from Tatum's recording.
