    You two are amazing. Two very independent people who found each other and are now independent together. Can’t wait to see the adventures ahead of you and the way that you work as a team to overcome challenges and love life together.
    Just when I thought that this channel was perfect, Rhonda comes along and now, it’s more perfect. Easily my favorite sailing channel on CZcams.

    It really looks like you two share exactly what my wife and i have and treasure - that feeling of comfortable companionship that transcends all the daily life that swirls around us all. We've been together for almost 40 years, but only a little over half our lives and we can't help but be a bit sad that we didn't find each other sooner. Difficult to get enough, but impossible to have too much of.

    Yes, I did love the content and glad I subscribed. I have friends all over the Pacific thanks to sailors . Coming from a Port as a child, I saw lots of seafood, caught a lot of it, crabs, shrimp, all of it. I do not see many sailors try to catch Shrimp, and I recommend it very much, it isn't that hard to do in the right places. But, you have to be ready for it, get the right net ect. Your smiles light me up. Thanks. Oh, and I love it when you sailed past the Opera House.

    I used to have this thing called a flopper stopper, you hang it on the end of the boom. It's a series of cones with a weight but you sit like a catamaran. You probably know about this, but no worries, it's cathartic to write about it. Keep up with the great videos. Thanks

    Lol, love the distinction you make about the way we say, "buoy". I love the way people worried about the dangerous fauna in Australia. I'd hate be to be charged by a brown bear. 🙂If you're near spiders again, get a stick and wave it vertically in front of you as you walk and you'll clear the spiders.

    I hear what you're saying about snakes Rhonda. I'm an expat Kiwi and been here 2+ years. I used to dream about snakes. I became a. paramedic and worked in rural area. We also bought a farm. To be honest I have seen so many now, I also have attended multiple Bites over the years. Very few people die. I'm cautious but not paranoid anymore. Funal web spiders on the other hand (found around Sydney)are very scary! Great video guys.

    • @vindolanda6974
      @vindolanda6974 Před 2 měsíci

      As an Australian, I hardly think about spiders. Snakes - you have to take it seriously. Read about a guy who stayed with aborigines decades ago in the NW living a traditional lifestyle. He said they were very wary of snakes so would burn the scrub around their camps. Sharks - yes, I've got an over active imagination so can't help thinking about them when I'm in the water.

    The big spiders you will see out and about will be orb weavers in the big webs, or huntsmen which wander around and come inside. Both are pretty harmless. Learn to identify Sydney funnel webs, they live at ground level and don't wander around, so mainly only a concern if you are doing gardening or something. Red backs are just like black widows.

    I worked for a zoo for a couple of decades and my most embarrassing moment was being bitten by a gila monster (Heee la ). There is no treatment for their bites, and most of the deaths attributed to them were caused by the quart of whiskey treatment (1800s) if bitten in the past. Some cowboys would get bitten every other Friday night, just to get "treated". I ended up with a swollen index finger and knuckle area for a few days, with thumping pain the whole time. It felt like my finger was slammed with a 25lb sledgehammer, coated with glass shards. Known as the most painful of the reptile bites in the world (I was nailed by a cobra as well). Unless dancing with rattlesnakes for your religion, to die from a venomous bite in the US has odds of about 1:100,000 bites may result in fatality. Hollywood has trained us to just see the extraordinary, sensationalized segments of part truths, and stereotype it just like everything else. Even the bible makes up stuff about snakes to instill more fear than necessary. Love the sailing though. I am jealous.

    • @SailorJames
      @SailorJames  Před 2 měsíci

      We had tons of rattlesnakes where I grew and I have had probably 12 very close encounters with them , only saw one Gila monster in the wild, he was in an old tire in a pasture we just looked at him for a while and kept the dogs away and moved on

If you respect them they will respect you. You only snake in Australia then I’ll actually chase. You is a king Brown which you hardly ever see, and even then they’ll only charge you if they feel like they’re being cornered or if they feel trapped, you are not their natural food anyway just enjoy yourself. Just be careful when you go up north Queensland the handbags/crocodiles up there will snap at you they get a half a chance , Cliff from Queensland

    Of all your Mexican perishers from what ive seen the Brown recluse potentially has the nastiest
    Venom..

    The Heila monsters venom
    Is in the back of its mouth ...excruciatingly painful im told .. of the snakes im a sucker for the Great horned Rattle snake.. because of its role in Navaho mythology along with his buddy great horned toad .. actually the spiny ant eating lizard .. the one that bleeds from their eyes as defence mechanism.
