  • Video about my latest build: Arcade Controller
This two-player Arcade Controller includes a (customized) trackball, Sanwa joysticks and LED switches.
The goal was to make an ultra-high-quality controller (heavy with original parts) that I could use for my Arcade Games on the PC. The Arcade Controller is made out of 19mm black MDF (CNC routed), 2mm acrylic glass, and custom vinyl artwork.
Instead of the 3 USB cables that are usually needed (1 for each player and 1 for the trackball), this controller utilizes 2 Logilink HUBS so that only one cable is connected to the PC.
    Part list:
Case - (Custom Design) 19mm MDF
    Joysticks - Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT
    Buttons - LED
    T-Molding - Chrome 19mm
Acrylic Glass - 2mm (laser cut)
Trackball - PS2 Led Trackball (modified to match LED color scheme)
    USB-Hubs - LOGILINK UA0149 2 X
Artwork: Created in Photoshop and Printed on High-Quality vinyl
    Software:
In the video I used BIG-BOX but you can also use LAUNCHBOX or HYPERSPIN
Want to build your own high-quality Arcade Controller?
contact me at thedanielspies[at]gmail.com for the building plans and technical drawings.
I am also planning to make a video where I construct and design one from scratch.

Gorgeous bit of kit. Only way to make it better would be to use Happ/IL parts instead of Sanwa. ;)

Hi! Great work but three quick questions. The first is what front end is that? Launchbox/Bigbox or Hyperspin? And the second question is how did you map your buttons? For instance, if you open and Arcade game (MAME) vs. if you open a N64 game, how did you map the joystick and arcade buttons to the game controls per emulator? Did you do this globally in the front end settings or have to open each emulators settings and map it for each emulator? And what if you want to use an Xbox One or PS4 controller with MAME instead of the buttons and joystick? Do you have to remap the buttons first or can you just switch to a different profile?

Nice vid! Are those usb controller boards give a keyboard signal or joystick in windows?

      @TheDanielSpies_Arcades  Před 4 lety

Yes, they are simple (and cheap) encoder boards. In my current builds, I switched to using the Ultimate Ipac's.
