Disabled Man Arrested for Being Homeless in Las Vegas - TWICE

  • Derwin is disabled living in a tent homeless in Las Vegas. You can't see from this angle, but I am sitting in Derwin's wheelchair to get level since he was lying on the ground.
Derwin has been arrested twice in Las Vegas for trespassing. He spent 20 days and then 10 days in jail for the crime of not being able to afford an apartment. Las Vegas is one of the worse cities criminalizing homelessness. The city passed a law making homelessness illegal punishable by a $1,000 fine or 6 months in jail. The thing is, they do not offer people like Derwin a path to get out of homelessness into housing.
Your voice can help end homelessness. If we do not fix the affordable housing crisis, homelessness will continue to get worse. About Invisible People
There is a direct correlation between what the general public perceives about homelessness and how it affects policy change. Most people blame homelessness on the person experiencing it instead of the increasing shortage of affordable housing, lack of employment, childhood trauma, lack of a living wage, or the countless reasons that put a person at risk. This lack of understanding creates a dangerous cycle of misperception that leads to the inability to effectively address the root causes of homelessness.
We imagine a world where everyone has a place to call home. Each day, we work to fight homelessness by giving it a face while educating individuals about the systemic issues that contribute to its existence. Through storytelling, education, news, and activism, we are changing the narrative on homelessness.
This isn’t just talk. Each year, our groundbreaking educational content reaches more than a billion people across the globe. Our real and unfiltered stories of homelessness shatter stereotypes, demand attention and deliver a call-to-action that is being answered by governments, major brands, nonprofit organizations, and everyday citizens just like you.
However, there is more work to be done on the road ahead. Homelessness is undoubtedly one of our biggest societal issues today and will only continue to grow if we don’t take action now.
Invisible People is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to educating the public about homelessness through innovative storytelling, news, and advocacy. Since our launch in 2008, Invisible People has become a pioneer and trusted resource for inspiring action and raising awareness in support of advocacy, policy change and thoughtful dialogue around poverty in North America and the United Kingdom.

      "Be fruitful and multiply.
Fill the earth and conquer it. Dominate over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over all the beasts that creep on the earth.” God said, “Behold, I give you every plant that has seed in all the earth and every tree that has seed. the fruit is seeded. This will be your food. As for all the animals of the earth, all the birds of the air, and all the animals that move on the ground, that is, all that is alive, I will give every green plant for food.” So it was so.

“There was a rich man [nameless] who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus [Named in heaven], covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.
“The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. In Hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’
“But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’
“He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’
“Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’
“‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’
“He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’” - Luke 16 (Lazarus, name of the man Yeshua raises from the dead in John)

Fill the earth and conquer it. Dominate over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over all the beasts that creep on the earth.” God said, “Behold, I give you every plant that has seed in all the earth and every tree that has seed. the fruit is seeded. This will be your food. On the last video that I commented on, they were talking about homelessness being illegal. Someone chimed in to me saying it's not. I told him that Columbia, South Carolina made it illegal. He insisted it's not illegal. CZcams does not allow me to post the links to show that Columbia, South Carolina made it illegal, but you can Google it, and you will find the story left and right. And now, THIS video shows that THIS man has been arrested twice for being homeless. YES, homelessness is illegal.
Like this man said, they want the homeless to go away, but there is no "away" for the homeless to go to. Everywhere they go, they're told to go. Even "away" wants them to go away. East side bounces them to west side. West side bounces them to east side. There's literally no where for the homeless to go. And, they won't build shelters for the homeless to go to. Even the ONE shelter only has five or ten or twenty beds, for 30 days or 90 days, and you have to go. Even during the day while you're in, you have to go. If you don't get back in time, then you don't get back that night. If they're full, you can't be there. With so many shelters, if you're a man, you can't be there. It's for women and children only. There is literally no "away" for the homeless to go to. Yes, it's illegal to be homeless. How bout we make it illegal to be housed? Then maybe the housed will see how the homeless feel.

I've seen them throw it a way. How do you help someone that don't want help they just want money for their addictions? My mother with my 2 other brothers where homeless but I never seen my mother turn down help. It was very humiliating to see my mom beg Bishop's for help we cleaned the church a lot for food and clothes. I have even gone to the grocery store and bought a cooler with ice and food and they don't want it. But I've had my garage broken into and my vehicles 6 times in 12 years. One thing if your healthy and young being homeless like I was once looking for work for 5 years around the country and finally getting steady work got a place instead of camping out, shelters, motels and rooming houses! Later I developed health problems and could no longer work full time ended up homeless but camped out mostly so has not pay penalties on IRA and force you to take Social security at 62 so you end up homeless later! My GOP state employer healthcare was worthless and the VA worse! Moved to were I could get Obamacare taken 8 years and 8 surgeries need 2 more! Instead of buying cars I downsized and never bought a home even though I looked at a few! Raided half my IRA and should make it to 67 for social security but has soon has I get next back treatment will go back to work so I can wait till 70 on social security then move and retire where rent is cheap or plenty of section 8 housing. Derwin might want to consider San Antonio they are building a small village for low income on SSI and SSD. Derwin hope you get a home!
