I get the concept it seems cute, but what doesn’t seem so cute is the potential for the bird to accidentally poke those precious infant’s eyes out. It’s not about blaming, it’s just, animals can get excited sometimes and I would never risk this.

My daughter is also my cats baby sister. Like a typical older child he wanted to use all her stuff before she arrived and then stayed tf away from her for a while and now has warmed up to her so much sometimes we're all in the bad during nap time....and I wake up and can't get anywhere with them on either side of me.
My mom referred to the two cats she had when I was a baby as my big brother and big sister. Jester was a doting big brother cat, while Brandy, the sister cat, didn't really pay much attention until I was a bit older.

ikr, cockatoos mimic a lot of other animals usually if they hear them a lot. I have seen a ton of videos of cockatoos mimicking dogs and cats and all sorts of animals
I find it adorable that the cockatoo reacts to the baby just as excitedly as how a child reacts to a new pet.
Just goes to show how beautifully intelligent these creatures are.

Birds are extremly intelligent and emotional creatures, they know that babies are helpless, innocent and should be taken care of.
SO the babies becomes their own baby.....The gorgeous cockatoo is a protective, loving parent!
They are very protective over kids, that I know first hand as the people that babysit Baby my umbrella cockatoo she bonded to the child more then anyone else in the family and bite the adults when she doesn’t get her way but hasn’t the child and use to play and hang off her all the time and protected her to the point they wanted to buy her off me. They have another cockatoo for now 15 years that the same way pretty much.
They are definitely more tolerant to children then they are to adults as they seem to know they are children? Still have to watch them under supervision till the child gets old enough to be able to care for the cockatoo and read body language and handle a bite, as these birds can bite hard.
It's so cool to see how in the second time they see the child you can see their intrigue and can tell they're seemingly deep in thought, such an intelligent and beautiful creature

Owning a Cockatoo is at the top of my list... I believe it's Australia where these beautiful feathered friends fly free. There's a YT video of exactly that. There must have been close to 100 of these beauties in trees, flying around, mingling with people who feed these amazing birds. And here I sit...in California wishing I had one of my own !!! Someday!!! Buttons is absolutely precious...thank you so much for sharing this video with me. I love how they whisper when needed.

Instinct and pure love is instilled in Buttons of this new baby. When he was asked what we should call her, it sounded like he said "Ann"! He looks at her with such tenderness and wonder.
