In our opinion there are more effective methods for sanding than using the 3mm attachment on this Flex polisher 👍🏽🚗

      @VProjectUKDetailing  Před 3 lety +1

      dibbs26 - Thank you for your kind words! Much appreciated. Pad stall with this polisher using any of the DA attachments is somewhere between OK & poor. It is still usable though. However leaving this feedback with this statement would do the polisher a disservice. We still think this is a superb polisher. As you see from the video it is very versatile. Using the polisher with the rotary attachments is where it comes into a life of its own. More than enough torque/power to handle most, if not all tasks. We use the 2” rotary attachment and sometimes fit a 3” pad onto it. Works wonders for heavy curves or tight edges especially with the Rupes Yellow or Rupes White pads. However, just bear in mind that the machine is not designed to run a 3” pad on rotary mode as it could damage the internals but so far we have had no issues. Hope this helps. Question: Can you still use either the 3mm or 12mm DA attachments with the 50mm APS extension shaft. Obviously it would be nice to retain the DA feature on the longer shaft. Thoughts / Recommendations?

    • @VProjectUKDetailing
      @VProjectUKDetailing  Před 2 lety

      Dominic Bird - Firstly thanks for watching the video. Our recommendation would be to stick to the rotary attachments only when using the extension! Reasons - firstly you won’t get good results using the DA feature using the extension shaft, and secondly it could damage the Flex internals as it’s puts undue stress of the gearing! Stick to rotary attachments! You will get better results anyway! Thanks again for watching! If you’ve not checked out the rest of the channel please do so, and check us out on Instagram! As a beginner to detailing and only working on my own cars, would the Flex PXE 80 be a good tool for me, could I get away without buying any other DA (would the 3” pad be ok to do larger panels), or would I have to buy a 5” DA tool?

    • @VProjectUKDetailing
      @VProjectUKDetailing  Před 2 lety +1

      Paul - Great question. The Flex would be an asset in any detailers toolbox. It’s a great versatile tool as you saw in this video. However - if you are only working on your own vehicle then maybe look at corded 3” polishers as they will be much cheaper! Really depends on your budget! We have recently launched another video showcasing the ShineMate EB351 5” cordless polisher so check that out too. This leads us onto your next question - yes you would also need a 5” or 6” polisher for larger panels! We have yet another video showcasing the DAS 6 Pro Plus which is more than enough for professional results at a much cheaper price. I was using the APS extension and cone pads this weekend for inside the door handle. Have you tried it? I had no issues getting out the marks behind the handle ( used the red cone and Menzerna medium compound) but, I just couldn’t get a good finish…Menzerna super fine polish, black cone, speed 1….ended up hazy and holograms….cleaned up easy enough as I switched back to a 1 inch pad and 12mm throw took it right out.
    It’s frustrating though as I also have the new Flex flexible drive attachment which allows you to get into almost any space but, if I can’t finish well it’s kind of pointless….is it technique / practice? It’s difficult to jewel in a tight space because it’s tight which means your movements are restricted! Any tips greatly appreciated.
    It’s a fantastic bit of kit…..

    • @VProjectUKDetailing
      @VProjectUKDetailing  Před 2 lety +1

      jasonsfraser - Some great user experience descriptions in your comment and I’m sure an experience that many people may have had! You’ve knocked the nail on the head regarding what the issue may be! Like most things in detailing there could be many variables - but based on what you’ve said the first thing to check is the vehicle make as that will determine pad/compound/polish choice based on lacquer hardness. Next thing is when using small/very small pads you have a much smaller surface contact area which means you have a much more focussed contact point - so unless you adjust the amount of pressure you apply you could be adding too much pressure which would cause hazing using a pad/polish choice which normally works wonders - so yes it is experience/technique! We find using the yellow APS cone with Meguiars D300 in really tight spots usually gives us the results we are looking for! Hope this helps - it’s all about practice, finding a pad/polish combo that works for you & knowing the type of lacquer you are dealing with. But yes agreed awesome bit of kit! Good luck in experimenting - it’s part of the learning process 👍🏽🤞🏽🙏🏽

      Thanks for the advice. Car is a carbon black 8 series BMW. Paint is medium to somewhat hard. I did a couple of test areas….I had no trouble removing swirls with Menzerna medium cut and flex purple pads….I’m assuming it’s heading towards hard as it finished so well that the finish polish step didn’t really improve clarity (maybe just a touch more gloss).
      I’ve ordered a couple of painted spray out cards so I can practice my small area technique and try various pad / polish combos. Thanks again for your help👍
      Btw, Flex battery technology is really next level. The speed of how quickly it can recharge means that with two batteries you literally never run out of power. V impressive.

    • @VProjectUKDetailing
      @VProjectUKDetailing  Před 2 lety +1

      jasonsfraser - You're welcome. Yes it sounds like it is hard lacquer if it's BMW and in most cases will finish down with the right one step approach. Good move getting test cards to practice on. We would highly recommend trying Meguiars D300 with the APS pads. Good luck - let us know how you get on. Yes the fact you can charge one battery whilst using the other is great - you never run out of power. But taking a small break in between polishes always helps - not only to let the machine cool down a bit but also to regroup mentally. Detail happy - we've been super busy but new content should be out soon.

      Just FYI, in a very early presentation, Flex said that it would in fact be able to be used in rotary mode. (it's on YT but I don't have the link handy). Interesting.

    Did I hear you say you can correct paint on speed 1... 🤦‍♂️

      Hi Gary ... Yes you did! In rotary mode on speed 1 it spins more than fast enough for paint correction 🚗 ... it also helps keep paint temps down as you are compounding/polishing in quite a small surface contact area either 1”, or 2” 👍🏽

    The only reason it’s turning so fast is because your using water. If you were using some compound it would not rotate nearly as fast

    I want that box

      Amir Abdullah - LOL 😂 ... we know what you mean. As far as boxes go it’s great. Solid. It also allows other Flex boxes to be stacked and connected on top so if you are carrying multiple polishing machines you end up carrying just one box. Nice touch from Flex 👍🏽

      V-Project UK : Detailing the bag we got with the PXE is cool but not like the Box.

      @@VProjectUKDetailing how do you get the box? Thx

      Tundra Whisperer - In the UK the box comes supplied when you purchase the kit. You may be able to buy the box separately but you may need to contact your local authorised Flex dealer. Sorry we can’t be more help 🤭
