    The Rupes yellow wool will definitely correct more than the yellow foam on a gear driven and free spinning DA.

      The new microfiber yellow pad will cut even more and refine even better 😳

    I understood the entire DA range of pads and polishes was created as a system to work across the DA and Mille range hence the difference of the foam make up and the side profile.
    Also the DA range with only having the 2 main polishes covers the entire range of the old range.... so making it simpler ... then you could step up the wool of MF equivalent.
    I'd say the yellow pad would work for most needs..... but having seen the DA blue pad in use with the DA coarse polish... that finishes amazingly well

    Weird, because rupes announced that just the blue and white foam had changed structure, but the yellow had kept exactly the same characteristic because already excellent before, and that it had simply changed only the color (darker) and the shape to tell them apart?!, so weird that it's firmer, or does the new curved shape play a role in the feeling of a bigger firmness?!. Otherwise for meguiar's microfiber pads I agree, they are excellent pads, even the DMF5 (finishing) are excellent for correction on softer paints, or finishing on harder paints. Today inexpensive pads that impress me are the SPTA. The SPTA flat beveled edge where the hex-logic curved edges, and even the new flat curved edges (identical to the new rupes) do an excellent job for foam, and their new microfiber versions (grey = cut, white = finishing) and wool (purple = cut, beige = medium cut, orange = finishing cut) D.A professionnal polishing pad range works very well too! . At the moment I like to use the SPTA orange wool professional polishing pad, it cuts and finishes very well in one step! It looks a lot like the rupes yellow wool pad but much cheaper!, moreover the quality is really there.
    Just like the SPTA purple foamed wool pad (nano/polyfoam), which in my own tests worked exactly like the lake country foamed wool pad purple, but cheaper, so why wouldn't I do without it 😁 Attention the rupes, lake country are excellent but expensive for my taste, the only expensive pads that I buy are the meguiar's microfiber discs which remain almost unbeatable in microfiber pads.

      Since you know your SPTA, I got to ask you. Just received my DA polisher from them (LD502). Comes with 2x yellow(sturdy), burgundy(softer), black(softest) pads. I want to polish a 2008 BMW X6. After watching this video I am ready to order 6x yellow Rupes Fine pads. I was thinking to use them in a 1-step with 3D One. If at initial testing I find any stubborn defects, I was going to try a 2-step with Sonax Cutmax & Fine first and then 3D One & Fine (UltraFine better here?).
      Which SPTA pads would you say are a direct replacement for the Rupes Yellow&White? (on Amazon they have (heavy-cut)green/yellow/orange/blue/red(finish) and they are nothing like the colors I received!)
      Also, would you change anything in my procedure? Thanks for helping a newbie mate.

    Cheers for the great info! I had several problems with my Rupes yellow pads. They disintegrated quite soon and what I found is the back part breaking up where the Velcro is

      @@VProjectUKDetailing honestly I will play ignorant here. Is a Rupes big foot Mark 3 DA a geared machine?

    • @VProjectUKDetailing
      @VProjectUKDetailing  Před 3 lety

      Declan Flaherty - No it’s a free spinning DA polisher - not gear driven! In that case the yellow pads could have deteriorated for a variety of reasons although they are normally quite robust! Please make sure you check out the rest of our channel and subscribe if you’ve not already done so - Thanks again 👍🏽🙏🏽

      You're getting them too hot and not swapping pads frequently I'd say... the glue gets hot then if you pull he pad off roughly they tear apart..

      @@dave2166 probably right Dave but I am swapping out every 20mins or so. Running at 4.5 on the Rupes DA but I find that the backing died anyway. It’s a shame as they are super expensive here in Finland. I opted for Scholl concepts purple pad and it seems to give me the same finish but 50% cheaper and the big thing is they last.

    Where does a Green Rupes pad fit in your line up if you were to use it. I ended up getting some of the pads when I got my DA and I have not really used them.

    • @VProjectUKDetailing
      @VProjectUKDetailing  Před 3 lety +2

      Declan Flaherty - The green Rupes pad is the next pad up from the Yellow pad and is classed as a medium pad. It would effectively be the equivalent of the Uro Fiber 50:50 pad in the line up we showcased in this video - but the Uro Fiber pad finishes down better than the Green Rupes pad. The Green Rupes pad is not one we use as other pads provide better results. Hope this helps 👍🏽😎

    Nice video. That polisher by the way is super mean. I have one as well. Have you tried any other backing plates with it ?

      Amir Abdullah - Thank you for your kind words! Yes it’s a nice polisher - lots of power for a cordless! So far we’ve only used it on its original backing plate! Seems to work really well 👍🏽

      @@VProjectUKDetailing I bought the other backing plates and strange as it sounds the Griots new backing plate ( not the old Boss polisher plate) is amazing with it. Better IMO than the stock plates.

    hey man, just a quick question. so my parents cars are both Japanese makes with soft paint (toyota and Mazda). if i recalled correctly, uro fibers will leave some hazing on softer paints. i have an unused meguiars finishing pad. could i use that as a second step? I've been looking into getting the rupes yellow fine, but id like to hear from you if it would finish out good if i used a finishing pad. btw this is with sonax perfect finish

    • @VProjectUKDetailing
      @VProjectUKDetailing  Před 3 lety +1

      Abel Tatek - Yes any MF pad will leave hazing that needs a 2nd stage to refine. Responsible detailing means trying the least aggressive method(s) to achieve the desired result. On soft paint (once you measured thicknesses, de-contaminated etc) try a finishing polish with the finishing pad first! If you are achieving the results you are trying achieve then great - otherwise step up to the Rupes Yellow and see what results you get. Soft paint is the hardest to refine as it marrs so easily - again no straight forward answer! You have to try a test section and see how the paint responds - but the principle is start with the least aggressive products and work upwards 👍🏽🚗
