I just swapped the entire thing out; motor and linkage. However the wipers are still running slow. Could it be a low power problem?
If your Renault Clio Mark 3 wipers are still running slow after replacing the motor and linkage, it could indeed be due to a low power issue. Here are a few potential causes to consider:
1. **Battery Voltage:** If your battery is weak or not providing sufficient voltage, it might not deliver enough power to the wiper motor, causing it to run slowly. Check the battery voltage with a multimeter. A fully charged battery should read around 12.6 volts when the car is off and around 14 volts when the engine is running.
2. **Ground Connection:** The wiper motor relies on a good ground connection to function correctly. If the ground connection is corroded or loose, it can cause the motor to run slowly due to insufficient power. Inspect and clean the ground connections.
3. **Electrical Connections:** Check the wiring and connectors leading to the wiper motor. Look for any signs of corrosion, loose connections, or damaged wires that might be causing a voltage drop.
4. **Alternator Performance:** The alternator charges the battery and powers electrical components when the engine is running. If the alternator is not performing properly, it might not be providing enough power for the wipers to run at full speed. You can test the alternator's output with a multimeter.
