The Best Gin Cocktails as voted by CZcams subscribers, Redditors and Facebook fans! I compiled a list of 25+ of the most popular gin cocktails and asked for everyone's input - to vote for their personal favourite GIN Cocktail. There were over 250 respondents to the survey resulting in the Best Gin Cocktails list! Given the number of responses received, I decided to create a mini-series for The Best Gin Cocktails. This is Vol. 1.

INGREDIENTS LIST FOR ALL 7 GIN COCKTAILS:
- Gin (London Dry, Old Tom)
- Maraschino Liqueur
- Creme de Violette
- Creme de Mure
- Champagne / Sparkling Wine
- Lemon Juice
- Simple Syrup (1:1)
- Soda / Seltzer
- Basil
- Raspberry Syrup
- Egg White
Here are the top 7 gin cocktails based on these votes.
--AVIATION--
The most searched cocktail on the internet back in 2013. The Aviation has been printed in numerous cocktail books - many of which excluded the Creme de Violette, as this liqueur was largely unavailable in the states until recent years.
INGREDIENTS
- 60mL London Dry Gin (2 oz)
- 22.5mL Fresh Lemon Juice (¾ oz)
- 15mL Maraschino Liqueur (½ oz)
- 1 Barspoon Crème de Violette
--TOM COLLINS--
The Tom Collins would be one of the most well known of the Collins’, made using a sweeter style, Old Tom gin. The collins cocktail is a great base to create variations by adding complimentary components and flavours such as elderflower, lychee and other fruit flavours in the form of fresh fruit, syrups and liqueurs. Some collins’ recipes call for a dash or two of bitters but I usually omit this.
INGREDIENTS
- 60mL Old Tom Gin (2 oz)
- 22.5mL Fresh Lemon Juice (¾ oz)
- 15mL Simple Syrup (1:1) (½ oz)
- Soda
--BASIL SMASH--
In the mid 2000s a German bartender create the Basil Smash - a herbaceous gin sour recipe.
INGREDIENTS
- 60mL Gin (2 oz)
- 22.5mL Fresh Lemon Juice (¾ oz)
- 22.5mL Simple Syrup (1:1) (¾ oz)
- 2-3 Sprigs of Fresh Basil
--BRAMBLE--
In 1984, London Bartender, Dick bradsell tweaked a classic gin sour by adding Creme de Mure (blackberry liqueur). Use crushed ice so that the Creme de Mure cascades down making a nice visual effect whilst adding a great balance of sweet, tart and fruitiness. Feel free to tweak this by adding a jam whether it be blackberry, raspberry, strawberry or what ever you have on hand.
INGREDIENTS
- 45mL Gin (1½ oz)
- 22.5mL Fresh Lemon Juice (¾ oz)
- 15mL Simple Syrup (½ oz)
- 22.5mL Crème de Mure (¾ oz)
--CLOVER CLUB--
A pre-prohibition cocktail that was named after a Philadelphia men’s group consisting of business professionals. First published in 1901 in the New York Press. It fell out of fashion by the 1950s and became more of a ladies drink. Traditionally served with no garnish but you can utilise a lemon twist or skewered raspberry if you like. This particular recipe was published in Jeffrey Morgenthaler’s The Bar Book.
The Clover Club bar in NY have created a popular variation with the addition of 15mL of Dry Vermouth.
INGREDIENTS
- 45mL Gin (1½ oz)
- 22.5mL Fresh Lemon Juice (¾ oz)
- 22.5mL Raspberry Syrup (¾ oz)
- Fresh Egg White (half a small egg)
--GIN FIZZ--
A fizz is a sour lengthened with soda water. It differs from a collins as it’s shaken and has the addition of egg white - you can omit this if you prefer not use egg in your drinks.
INGREDIENTS
- 60mL Gin (2 oz)
- 22.5mL Fresh Lemon Juice (¾ oz)
- 22.5mL Simple Syrup (¾ oz)
- Fresh Egg White (half a small egg)
- Soda Water
--FRENCH 75--
The original version of the French 75 calls for cognac - but gin is the more common choice nowadays. It has a similar framework to a collins with the substitution of champagne or sparkling wine instead of soda.
INGREDIENTS
- 30mL Gin (1 oz)
- 30mL Simple Syrup (1:1) (1 oz)
- 22.5mL Fresh Lemon Juice (¾ oz)
- 90mL Champagne or other sparkling wine (3 oz)

Best comment!!!!!
Best comment! 😂
Your grin while shaking gets me everytime, love your work
Thanks Duncan.... I've formed a habit now... better then staring off into the distance with a blank look... I think >_
@@StevetheBartender_ I just keep thinking your Mum or Girlfriend is there telling you to smile.
I laughed every time he did it. Lol. Adorable.
Haha that bit got me too
It kind of looks like he’s trying to fight it off but then he can’t help it haha. I also noticed shaking without ice isn’t grin-worthy.
This mans smile warms my cold heart
You should sip a few gins and it'll warm you up!
@@StevetheBartender_ I'm sure it warms alot of people's heart your smile there😀 cheers mate
Kind of freaks me out to be honest
That smile he flashes while shaking the cocktails tho.
😊
@@StevetheBartender_ Thank you so much for replying 😊
I love how every time he does a dry shake he doesn't smile, but whenever he shakes with the ice afterwards he smiles, gets me everytime! Love these videos Steve, keep it up!
"Add Two Ounces of Gin, 1 ounce of fresh lemon juice, 1 ounce of simple syrup. Give it a good shake, and to top it off... a smile to melt your heart".
You're a good bartender
One of the best on CZcams
The best*
He, cocktail chemistry and tipsy bartender are the most fun to watch
@@metttestsc8099 I like tipsy bartender more
Much appreciated Samarth!!
Another decent one is the bartender on modern rogue but they do more than just drinks
Your smile is really beautiful 💕💕
😊
Hands down best list of top gin recipes on youtube.
I've never known anyone to dislike a bramble and most people I know dislike gin.
Thanks Sasha! Appreciate it! 🤙
The best part is that lovely smile while shaking the ingredients
💕🙏👍
There were way too many EPIC Gin Cocktails to feature in one video...otherwise it would have been an hour long.. therefore, this will is VOL. 1 with at least 2 more to come!! Enjoy!
I see myself becoming an alcoholic during the month of April.
Great stuff!!!!
Please do a Kyoto sour recipe
Steve the Bartender
I think the Crème de Violette is currently sold as the Parfait d’Amour.
@@MrAqr2598 Unfortunately Parfait D'Amour is a triple sec/curacao. Yes it would give you the correct colour but the flavour is citrus. Creme de Violette is a flowery flavour like the flower smells. You can try to find Creme D'Yvette which is similar.
Your channel is my favorite because you go straight to the mixing and less boring stories about the cocktail.
Thanks Steve for making it look so easy!
The Aviation and the Basil Smash are my favorites. Great video!
So relaxing watching your content!
Love the Basil Smash. Had my first basil drink in Bratislava, Slovakia and loved it Thanks your biggest fan
steve, i love your smile when you shake. it doesn't matter what exact cocktail you are making but just the smile itself brings joy to me. that's how we should enjoy life, to be able to spend time doing things we love to do.
Love your videos! Simple, and exactly what I'm looking for. Love to follow your recipes to try new drinks!
Thanks Bridget! I have a long, long list of videos to film and upload - stay tuned!! ;)
I'm a fan of drinks and I always have my friends at home making some drinks and always surprising them. I learn a lot from your channel. Thanks. Greetings from Brazil, South America.

The smile when he shakes ✨ precious✨

Hi Steve. I really enjoy your videos. Very into Gin as a topic. Excited about Vol. 2 :)
I love watching you make cocktails...that shaker smile!!!! Your site is my go-to site for a quick how to make just about any cocktail. I am surprised you don't have the salty dog, I prefer mine with gin, but vodka works as well... Just a suggestion, in case you were looking for any. keep 'em coming!
Excellent presentation with a great smile.Cheers from Canada.....subscribed.
Great video Steve! Featuring my favorite spirit! Gave me some great ideas!
I think I'm going for the Basil Smash! I've never had that before and I grow fresh basil. Whoo hoo!

Thanks Murray! Plenty more recipes to come... I love a good Basil Smash too!
I haven’t seen any of your older videos, but this one came up in my feed oddly enough. Im wanting to try gin again since I didn’t care for it when I was young. Tastes change. That first one sounded yummy 😋
I love gin, and these cocktails look amazing. You always make them fresh and simple, perfect. I am going to make Aviations to drink while I wrap gifts tonight. Merry Christmas 2022, as this is probably an old video. Catching up after recently finding your channel. ❤Cheers from Vancouver, Canada 🇨🇦
Thank you for including OZ conversions in your videos!
Amazing work dude.
Your smile is so contagious.
First off, love this channel and plan on spreading it to more friends to watch. Secondly, where do you get your music? It’s a well implemented compliment to your video.
Great video! Thanks
My favorite is the Aviation. I first saw it on the cocktail menu at Four Seasons, Scottsdale, AZ
I will try all of them little by little. Thank you!.

Thanks Oleg - the Clover Club is one of my fav cocktails!
Amazing videos!Inspired 😃
Great stuff!!!!
Because Steve said it’s one of his favorites, I just made a Clover Club. Never heard of it before. It’s absolutely delicious!
I like all the gin cocktails but the aviation has some unique but still well rounded flavours. It’s full bodied but not heavy. Love the channel. 🇨🇦
The Clover Club is our new favorite!! We use a honey raspberry gin, and It’s so delicious!
Glad I found your site
Wonderful recipes, thank you very much. For those of us in areas of the world without access to certain ingredients (such as certain berry juices) how would you suggest we replace them? thanks!
Keep up the great work Steve!
Thanks James!!
Ooh difficult choices! Between Basil Smash and Clover Club. I wish we viewers were familiar with plethora of gin choices you pro’s have, how wonderful. TYVM 4 your videos.
I love basil cant wait to try the basil smash
Nice video thanks Steve . Is there any ready made replacement for Creme De Violet?
Back at it again with a great video.
Thanks Sam!!
this channel is amazing
Wicked selection mate. Nice work 🕺🏼
Thanks mate! You'd be due for your next upload soon yeah? What's next? =)
Great recipes. Thank you! First big BBQ after Covid going to be great. Subscribed!
Basil smash sounds amazing. Bees knees you did not show is my favorite
I've made all of these except the Basil Smash (new drink for my repertoire!) and am going to try your measurements as compared to mine. The Aviation is my absolute fave- It's what made me a gin lover! Now whenever a friend says he doesn't like gin, I say, "You haven't had MY cocktails!" And then he's a convert!
Excelentes cocteles te saludo desde Buenos Aires Argentina
I've never tried gin... but stevie you just may have converted me. The bramble looks delicious!!!!
Gin is one of my fave spirits.
Thanks Steve im learning a lot from you👍
Most welcome Jid! Good to hear that the vids are getting put to good use! ;)
The Clover Club convinced my gin hating friend to give gin another try. Now she's all over gin cocktails.
That's awesome!! Definitely a good way to introduce someone to gin cocktails..
Got addicted to your channel buddy, great job!!
I was serving and being served the French 75 in a coupet glass though in UK.Got a bit confused.Anyway, keep it up big man, already learned a lot from you, thanks!!
Yeah we don't have coupe glasses so we serve them in flute glasses, definitely never over ice
Everyone wait for your smile during the shake😀😀nice greetings from germany
I love these videos, thanks!
Thanks Triplecap!!
I realy realy like this guy please keep going for those videos
Thank you for the video i learn amore watching your video than in my class.
Absolutely perfect Bramble. I like to think of it as a gin sour with a blackberry sno cone on top. Also, seems to me, raspberry + umami = blackberry, so raspberry and vanilla ought to approach it. Maybe a quick shave of allspice/pimento.
As always, great stuff. Cheers, musculey friend.
Love your vids!!!
Whenever I’ll get myself a drink, your video would be on play so I could see how youd do it! Hahaha plus the way you shake with a smile makes me drunk than alcohol! 🥰
I just learned the "Basil Smash" is a thing and I need to try to make it. It sounds too nice.
I'm definetly going to try the French 75 but they all look great
Nice cut and nice video
Thanks and very good
I think the last one is the best, because the wine u have mixed with gin!
I don’t even drink cocktails, but I find these videos as relaxing as ASMR!
Steve you rock man
Just made the gin fizz. New favorite. Love these videos, it's a nice change from drinking jack and coke every weekend 😛 lol cheers from Texas!
Thanks Ivonne! The Gin Fizz would be much more refreshing than a Jack's ;) welcome to the channel!
You are so calm and chill, love to watch man, also not arrogant at all like most bartenders
Cheers Florian! I try to keep it as real as possible - just keen to show people that it isn't as hard to mix drinks as some people think =)
I found your channel 2 days ago, watched about 25 of your videos and thought to myself ‘I can’t believe he hasn’t done a series on gin’ (in my opinion the best spirit out there). Then what would you know - next day or two the 7 best gin cocktails. It was fate!
Would love for you to do a domestic gin review with all these fantastic gins going around in aus (particularly in sydney/melb)!
Thanks for the sub! Cocktail binge!! 😆
Doing bottle reviews is a good idea - there would be so many good gins to review!! I’m from Adelaide but in Dromana VIC for the weekend... might head to Bass & Flinders Distillery tomorrow!
Thought clover club had dry vermouth as well? In any regard, well done, I enjoy watching your content
Subbed after my first video ! So underrated channel :) keep up the good work 😄
Cheers! Thanks for the sub!!
I have drank Tom Collins several times this summer. I had forgotten how simple and refreshing it is.
Love your videos. My favorites is basil smash and french 75. They are so fresh and very lovely during a hot summer day or when you want to give your friends a nice and fresh experience. Keep up the good work #teamsweden
Thanks Tobias!! I 100% agree - perfect for hot days!
these are awesome man
Thanks Brendo!
Looks like refreshing drink
The Gin Basil Smash was made by Joerg Meier at 10th July 2008 in Hamburg the bar is named Le Lion.
Hope you've got somebody there to help you drink all those fabulous cocktails! The best!
Yvonne

Thanks Nitin! Glad your liking the vids! I’m overdue for a NSW trip 😆
Todos me parecen fabulosos, pero mis favoritos serian el tom y el clover. Excelente video, gracias por tus aportaciones. Soy fan de los coteles.

For the Clover Club, I muddle fresh raspberries and add sugar sirup.

Gonna try that Tom Collins, looks delicious
That smile makes me wanna be his friend! Haha. Great video!
