hi, i noticed you having trouble selling the idea why animals are raped, and i think i can help before using strong words such as rape, murder and holocaust, we first need to guide them towards it by making statements they agree with for instance you can guide people to understanding and agreeing the word rape applies to animals with: do you agree that farmed animals are bred into existence? do you agree that the decision to breed is made by the breeder regardless of what the animal wants? if a human would be bred in the same way an animal is, would you not call that rape since there is no consent? since animals, like humans, have a will of their own, do you agree this also applies to them? it may seem a bit long, but from what i can see getting people to agree with the definition in a way that is clear for them is key to keeping the connection needed to convince people strong. or at least i've seen way too many instances of people following until words come up where they have issues connecting it with animals and then dropping off mentally, getting defensive or talking past eachother. which is also the reason why i advocate against using the word sentience unless making absolutely sure it's clearly defined and agreed upon first. we tend to expect people to have the same academic knowledge on terms as us, but most of the time those who nod along just don't want to sound stupid by asking what we mean. to me, the argument itself is not that important, it's the guiding the people towards it that is.

Another point to consider most farms are owned by carnivore industries who don't care about animal rights and compassion but profits. If vegans maintain farming they would eventually invent new methods and processes so even insects aren't killed ask collateral damage. For example in-house farming with an establishment of a facility that completely keeps out insects. Which could even perhaps stop the use of pesticides.
