Can this same tapered profile be achieved by nailing quarter round moulding on top of the wood if one does not have the proper machinery to cut that profile?
@@BitsandWood 1 million precentâ I did the same thing he did made my own installed then paintedâ if u have a sprayer u could install firstâ if you are rolling paint b4 installing or youâll never get the bottom as roller hits floorâ Also u donât wanna hear thisâŠ. There r times u save moneyâ u r saving money by doing it yourselfâ For the love of god BUY THEM! Cutting your own makes the biggest mess of mdf dust and youâll always have cut lines from ripping now u have to sand = more nasty mdf dustâ And the most important part people donât getâ Priming mdf you HAVE TO USE OIL BASED PRIMER! YOU CAN NOT use water baseâ The oil base is $55-60 a gal depending on how much trim youâll need 1-2 gall and 2 coats Minâ mdf unprimed is a b**ch I thought Iâll save money and make themâ Yah never again By the time I bought everything to do it correctly then cut the mess to Clean up sanding clean again prime onceâ now u need to sand after 1st coat trust me if u donât it will look bad when u paintâ ask me how I knowâŠ? Now wipe down 2nd coat primer Sand again Wipe down again now paint Oh did u forget to use 1/8â round over on edges I did đđ do that now prime againâ Or u could just go To store buy pre primed go home paint / install and move onâ Hope that helps budâ the money u save by doing it yourself is savings enough to just buy it pre cutâ The time it takes to make it yourself just isnât worth itâ The cost with primer again isnât worth itâ

I spent so much time cutting, sanding, installing, masking, wiping, priming, sanding again, painting, cleaning up dust. I also bought and used shellac primer which was so expensive. Never againâŠso not worth the amount of hours I invested.

Probably. Just want to be sure you line up the quarter round well.
Mdf doesn't withstand moisture and it isn't durable enough
Just curious, if you had to do this a 2nd time, would you prime and paint before installing?
Yeah, I think so. Iâll actually be doing that in a couple weeks with the rest of the house.
