as a long time ultraman watcher, its honestly rare these days to see a video introducing someone to ultraman that doesnt have any misinformation or have an overly shilling on heisei because showa is bad mentality, but im delighted to say this video features neither of those. excellent work, and i genuinely hope this video can persuade people to give this franchise the chance it so greatly deserves.

I grow up watchin ultraman, goldar and spectroman (Brasil simply love tokusatsus) and i love tokus too, they are great and the old ones have this nostalgic and experimental vibe, my recomendation is Ultraman Tyga too, perfect balance between old/new, dark/light and a very good story

Nice to see a new video from you
And as a longtime fan of the Ultras, I can safely say this is the best recommendation video this franchise could ever receive, good job
(And by longtime fan I mean I started with _Tiga_ as a kid and then went back and watched the old stuff and immediately loved those as well, mainly cuz my parents often brought up _Ultraman_ and _Ambassador Magma_ whenever they talked about shows they watched as kids so naturally I was curious and I was kinda already into tokusatsu anyway)

I saw the original Ultra via dvd but skimmed through some episodes I thought was cool but the Ultra show I actually finished and got me hooked on the series was Ultraman Orb, and Ultraseven(Mostly due to his design and hype). What won me over was the amazing fights, rich storytelling and the fact that Ultraman and Godzilla are cousins via Eiji Tsuburaya.

  • @troublesomezorua

I really do think that aspect of ANYTHING being viable to show up is a favorite part of the series. I loved the small bits of the Sunrise anime we got in the US when I was little and while I don't think Towards the Future ever aired in my area, I did read the tie-in comic and played the SNES game and absolutely loved Gudis' design. So when I watched a Galaxy Fight and saw Jonias show up it was really cool... and then when they name dropped Gudis I lost my mind. It was just a tiny little mention and screenshot of him, but still. I never expected them to acknowledge TTF, much less involve my favorite monster in the plot. That was really the moment that cemented it for me. Though honestly most the main series don't hook me too much, since I prefer the space and crossover aspects over the Earth side of things. I do plan to watch more of them, but it's hard when there is just so much Kamen Rider calling out to me.
Incidentally, I also remember when I watched the first series and Nexus at the same time, I noticed that newer series focus more heavily on striking while early series were more pure wrestling. How big or small a deal that is depends on the person, but as I much prefer strikes, I lean more towards the newer stuff. Just a random detail I thought I'd bring up.

I watched the original Ultraman & Ultraseven as a child(English dub,of course) and became an instant fan. It was like having a Godzilla movie every week. I'm also happy that Amazon Prime has many of the Showa and Heisei shows on their streaming network(some free, some for a minimum fee). Now I can catch up. This was a great video and informational. Keep up the good work.

I'm very new to Ultraman. I never had watched it before but I was meaning to watch it because I've heard good things about it and I'm a Rider fan. My first series ended up being Geed. Technically my first Ultraman was Leo, but that was just because it was on TokuShoutsu so it was on with Sentai (the reason I watched the channel). So I started looking into different Ultra series, and I gotta say. Geed really does seem like a series that would be good for starters. To be fair, I only watched one episode of Geed and like 4 of the other shows I tried, but this is the first Ultra to truly interest me (and in one episode at that) and I don't exactly know what about it I like so much. But yeah, thanks for the information about the series! I'll probably check out some of the series you recommended after I finish Geed.

All of the recommendations I'd agree with (I still have to watch Tiga but I'm sure it's solid), I'd add Gaia on top however as that was probably the best Ultra show I've seen. It has a serialized story and bunch of great episodes, and a second at first anti hero character Ultraman Agul

  • @nathanchannel1895

I have watched many other Ultraman and tokusatsu films, yes, my first Ultraman was Ultraman Zearth Yes, I call it a robot because the face is similar, but I was confused about what superhero this was. When I demonstrated the style, my mother said it was Ultraman, son, my mother said, then I liked it because the concept is quite unique compared to most super heroes whose size is the size of a human, like Superman. Yes, this is unique, where a giant hero fights. giant monsters that look like dinosaurs, that's why I like them. In my country, Indonesia has been broadcast on Indosiar, RCTI, TVRI, SCTV, RTV, but what I experienced was the Indosiar and RTV era. To be honest, during the Indosiar era, there were lots of other Ultraman and Tokusatsu toys, including Godzilla, the Bandai brand. The good times where children's entertainment was clearly different from now where it's less clear like Spiderman being impregnated by Elsa or Cameraman

Just found this video searching youtube for more ultraman content and toku-tubers. Great video. you have a new subscriber. I too am a huge ultraman fan. So much so I started an Ultraman podcast with a friend. Shameless plug (A to Zett: An Ultraman Podcast) sorry not sorry. We started with an Ultraman introduction as well. Ours was much more lengthy and we broke down each series and how we thought it would serve as an introduction to the franchise. This is a great concise video. For those who want a quick explanation, I will be directing them to this video.
I've seen quite alot of Ultraman series but primarily all of the New gen stuff and Zero's stuff. Ive seen Ultra Q, Ultraman, and I'm working my way through Ultra Seven. My biggest blind spots are The Showa and Early Heisei (Tiga- Mebius) except ive seen Nexus. I intend to watch everything at some point.
I come from the henshin hero side of the fandom rather than the kaiju side. I've noticed that with the Ultraman fandom that you either come from the Kiaju film side ( Godzilla films) or the henshin hero side (kamen rider and super sentai). Those who come from the kaiju side tend to perfer the showa era stuff and those who come from the henshin hero side tend to perfer the new gen series. (Obviously this is a gross generalization and there are exceptions, but this is what I've seemed to observe conversing with various fans.)
I started weith Orb and Geed was my second series. I liked Orb and though it might just be a one-off good show but after I saw Geed I was hooked on this franchise. It made me go back and watch through all of Zero's stuff which opened the door to other shows.
Before Ultraman, I was primarily into Super Sentai with an occasional kamen rider series. I started with Gaim which is my favorite now, but its so different to other Kamen rider that it took me a while to like any other series. I also only liked the newer stuff and would scoff at the showa series for looking terrible. Now that I've seen the original Ultraman series (which I love) it has opened me up to enjoy showa era sentai and Rider.
If you would like to talk more about Ultraman, feel free to hit me up.

If anybody actually going to watch Ultraman Geed, I think they should probably watch the Ultraman zero collection first just to get a grasp on the characters that they have in that show as well. I've got to try to watch the classic ones as well and try getting to that series. Thanks for the video.

If you want a fun season, i would reccomend dyna but although it continues tiga it can still stand on its own without the need for you to deeply understand tiga! Almost all of the ultraseries are classics in some way !
