Especially South East Asia since there is an official Ultraman called Ribut who debuted from a Malaysian cartoon titled Upin Ipin. It is due to an official collaboration from Tsuburaya with Les Copaque(the cartoon company owner) that this new Ultraman was created specifically for that cartoon show. Ultraman Ribut then was put into live action and cemented as canon in the ultra series and debuted with other new generation of Ultramen like Zero. Ultraman Ribut is now so popular that Malaysia and Indonesian fans are fighting online on where Ribut draws influence from since Indonesia and Malaysia have similar history and culture. Malaysian fans are proud that Ribut debuted because the Ultra series are super iconic here.

Sound familiar? Necrozma is pretty much the Plasma Spark, and that's if the "Ultra" prefix wasn't enough of a dead giveaway. In fact, the Ultra Beasts themselves look like they could be Ultra series Kaiju.
Yeah...it kinda sucks. Aside from the actually decent action, the characters are laughable, the ideas behind it are absurd in the worst way, everyone seems to have a gigantic ego, and the artwork ain't the best. But you go ahead and you check it out for yourself

Dr. Slump is littered with both Ultraman and Toho Monsters and has a ton of references to the ultra series so its probably safe to bet that Toriyama is a fan of the series.

I have a feeling ep 40 of Ultraman Leo inspired "Kill em all Tomino" in his Zambot 3, Ideon and Gundam series (and Sunrise first anime prokect was The Ultraman in 1979 anyway) and the evil manga artist of one of Ultaman Taro's episodes must have been inspiration for Araki's character Rohan in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
