- @MerlinsOldSchoolGarage and his buddy Makay finish a '31 Ford Model A restoration for Cliff that his dad started many years before. @MerlinsOldSchoolGarage met Cliff while buying model A parts from his dad's estate sale. After @MerlinsOldSchoolGarage gets it to run, and Makay slaps some paint on it, it's time for Cliff to see his Dad's dream car finally running!
Nothing takes the sting out of the loss of a loved one more than to honor their memory. We learn this one painful day at a time. You can see what I mean in the expression those folks are wearing. Well done Merlin. ❤
Nice job merlin..brings back the 60s when a person could paint a car in a back yard..looks like a fine ride again..
I Po painted my 77 super beetle in my backyard last year.
I don't know why, but seeing somebody checking TDC using a screwdriver always makes me respect them just a little bit more. The old ways are alive and well on this channel and I love it!
There's a different tool for that?
@@robinbegley1077 yes, a finger. If it's long enough and one doesn't mind losing it at some point.
@@robinbegley1077 You can break a screw deriver off, best use a bent piece of wire.
For the Man that knows, nothing is too difficult, Merlin You are pure talent!
Merlin wins the “yard of the year” award. He has the best yard art ever. Love it.
It’s amazing how so many great projects come out of that small shop. Keep up the great work. Love your shows
You can't save them all, but you can save them one at a time. Nicely done. The smiles mixed with the memories of his Dad make it all worth it.
Merlin Paul Shinn would be so proud of you and McKay for all that you do for these old Model A cars. Interesting video and enlightening!
Absolutely awesome smiles for Miles. You have a heart of gold. Love your videos.
Hey Merlin,
Those A bones are really simple cars.
Of course knowing them well as you do helps a lot.
I hope that fella can take a deep breath now and then so that he can enjoy the car.
His wife sure seemed to like it.
Ya kinda have to let that green paint settle in on ya, it just takes a bit of time.
It could use some pinstriping to break it up a bit.
Ma kay is sure a great helper.
He just jumps right in to get it done, no matter what the task.
The music in this video is great !
Was not too loud as many videos are as well as having good fade out.
Great editing !
Take Care
Merlin I appreciate the down to earth average guy on a budget, but get it done in his garage or yard project. Plenty of folks doing high end order everything new. Good to trading for parts and friends helping each other . And you teaching us all new things. Thanks
Makay, that's a heckuva 10 foot paint job! Hahaha! Looks great from here! And Merlin, you truly are the magician of making all things mechanical operate again.
So cool you got it running for the owner I am sure his dad is smiling.
For a driveway paint job that looks really quite nice! Great job, guys!👍👍😁
Awesome and outstanding as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
Merlin, looks like you returned another one to the road! Well done Sir!
Merlin, the wizard with all things with a motor! All you hard work has paid off in life! Many people look up to you, and for your knowledge and your willingness to help those who just get stuck and are looking for answers, you come to their rescue. The smiles on their faces speak volumes! I would have liked to have seen the drive back home and heard some stories from Miles and his wife, with grins from ear to ear. Catch you on the next.✌️😊
Awesome job! I hope you find a youngster to teach what you know. I would have loved to have been your neighbor as I was growing up.
Merlin - You make people so happy!
One more Model A on the road again. These car were made to last forever not like today. Thank you very much I love watching.
Always good to see these old cars running again and still
When you said it could also be brushed or rolled ,that reminded me of when I was a kid (1963). My Mom had a 49' Mercury an old army staff car, with suicide doors, she wanted it painted. So she bought a can of black enamel and her and I and my oldest brother brush painted that car one Sunday afternoon. Brother wired an old radio in the glove box.
Bless you Merlin for your gift of memories to Cliff.
Outstanding, not enough old school cars get saved and put back on the road.
I love these old cars. Back in the Sixties my brother-in-law had a ‘28 & ‘29 Model A and a ‘29 Chevy. He would never let me work on them but I did get to drive the ‘28 to the Dairy Queen. Fun times. Your videos are the best.
Nice paint job guys! A 30 Model A was my first car, my dad bought it froze a friend in Brook Indiana and I drove it home ( about 30 miles ) to Gary . I was 16 at the time. The year was 1956.
Very nice. You're a fortunate man. My first car was a '55 Plymouth. I learned to drive in that one. Great car.
@@georgevindo My first car was a 1625 Buick light six. At 14 years she taught me many things, nothing was automatic, manual choke, timing on the run, crash gearbox, etc.
That gift of this running car to those folks was just the best thing I’ve watched this week.
I simply love this channel, as a kid we had a 1929 landau chev, a very rare car. Dad sold it and it was completely restored to an amazing vehicle.
My memories of that old car , the tours in the 1960’s lasted a lifetime.
So well done, beautiful !
Nice old A sedan, in early 60s we had 2 as toys, a 29 pickup and 30 coupe, easy to work on and grandpa showed me how to maintain, at 12 we rode all over back roads, fun times
Merlin, you brought back special memories for this family. It would be cool to see if they redid the interior on it. You guys rock. God bless😊😊😊
I will have them send me an update when they get the interior done and share their family going to get ice cream. That’s a great idea.
You make it sound so easy as a true craftsman would. I would need a step by step instructions. We are spoiled today there's very little thinking in driving today.
Ya'll picked the perfect music
Beautiful!! Your a blessing to many. This family is overwhelmed by the family treasure! You and Makay make a great team..
just went to your website and bought a pullover and a t shirt! you're the man merlin!
Awesome! Thank you!
That car turned out looking great with the new paint. Thanks for another fun video Merlin.
🎉 a nother great job done...and a nother happy couple.....thanks for the video 📹! !!!!......JJ...😊
I have a 31 Tudor that’s a project. I love watching your Model A videos for the wealth of knowledge you have for these old cars. Thank you Merlin for sharing.
You and McKay made that look and run Great again.Well done.
Thumbs up great video, always enjoy the ride along,
Ole Majic Merlin........ thanks for taking us along with ya. Have loved the entertainment and have learned so much.
YOU HAVE THE BEST SHOW ON U-TUBE, Love every minute of it, Thank you for taking time for the video's.😊👍
I love it. Love seeing you resurrect these old cars and they deserve to be kept alive so others can see how those times were.
Always in pain can nott ever sleep, good thing Merlin uploads 6AM east coast time !!
lets see what he has going on today, thanks for the early bird upload.
Love seeing all these classics back running again, so cool thanks Merlin.
And to think, none of the modern cars will be running when they're that old.
Brilliant Merlin, to save automotive history like this is fantastic. Hats off to you.
The music you guys use is great...reminiscent of better times, just like when cars were made better ;)
Really like the paint job, and a whole lot cheaper than taking it to a pro paint shop is a major plus. Great job on the A!!
It isn't lost on me all the effort you're going to with the music - and other things - in your vids. Good stuff, man.
You are an heck of guy merlin ,little things to you can mean the world to some people, especially when it comes to family memories
You did a Awesome job with the 1931, the motor was very impressive at your and McCoy's experience outstanding work
The doors and windows are very nice 👌
Thanx for sharing your experience 👍
Have a Great Day 👍
180 and away we go. Great paint job. Runs well.
Love the old music to go along with the video. The cars pretty nice too.
You guys done a great job on the Model A, nice to see it brought back to life.
Haha. The only thing missing is period outfits on these two old school mechanics. Lol.❤
Havasu high jinx.
The original owner, you and McKay did a very nice job on that. I'm constantly amazed at the way you guys have with old cars. Wonderful job there. Thank you for this.
Beautiful job for a beautiful family. Glad Robby sent me!
Merlin keeps the oldschool knowledge alive, one young guy at a time....... well, "young" guy this time... 😁🤟
Another great video and I love the Big band music with these old cars it's a touch of the past.
What a cool car! Well done sir
Great job Merlin, and that was a great driveway paint job!!
Hes got an instructional video to watch as many times as needed
Thanks for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love and bless you guys, good work guys looks great, how handy you are Merlin.
That is so cool, Merlin you rock! So cool to take this old beauty and bring her around in no time. Engine, Paint, window regulators, etc. Nice Plus Education for the owners
Great job Merlin and McKay! That will be one nice driving A!
Another great morning with MOSG . & again Dr Frankenstein brings another one filled with history to life. You have a new Igor Makay. If your cars in your collection could talk you could write a history book on The lives of Model As & Model Ts. & what they've seen. ❤ your channel & thank you for the entertainment.
Great vid as usual !
AND ! Most excellent music .
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Awesome job Merle , great work 👍
Great job you and McKay did he painted her really nice. And all of the mechanical work you guys did shows. Awesome video I hope they enjoy the old girl Take care Merlin.
Nice video!! Love seeing these old cars come to life again!! I'll bet Cliff is ecstatic having his father's old car running again! Nice job!!!
How cool that project was. Merlin you are a great guy with valuable knowledge.
AUDIO IS SPOT ON GR8 JOB!!! I can hear you so well its very enjoyable to watch
That is awesome! I hope to one day own an old car like that or any of Merlins cars.
I gotta work harder
Great choice of back ground music, your knowledge if ALL things engine is so impressive
I think if you gave Merlin a battery a rock and some fuel, he'd make it run! Sure would have loved hanging out in your garage with ya Merlin! Please keep vids coming!
Nice job Merlin you and Makay made that look great.
What a great car, Merlin the magician. great job as always.
Good job with paint and getting it running. The paint reminded me of my uncle who used a paint brush for keeping his 54 Chevy painted a similar color of green back in the 60s 👍🇺🇸
Greetings from Germany & Happy New Year to you and family hopping that it will be a better one for us all.
Merlin, you know theses old Fords inside and out... and it's second nature for ya. My dad went to work for Studebaker in 1929 and did mechanic's work until his health failed him in the mid 60's. I was the youngest of 4 siblings and still recall some of his dinner table stories. Dad pretty much knew those old cars inside and out as well. It was too bad for me that my dad didn't start getting smarter till after my teenage Know-it-All years. I missed out on so much knowledge that I had to learn the hard way over the years. Never the less what I did learn from dad I do appreciate to this day.
I really enjoy your channel and as always look forward to the next project. That old Prat & Whitney radial engine will be an interesting series to watch. Really looking forward to it.
Looks exactly as it should!
Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
Paul Cox is a lucky man. If Paul has you as a back up when he can't get it running. Marilyn you are the man.
I love watching you work on these cars you are awesome and it's amazing how you know right away what is wrong, and what needs adjusted.
Well once again Merlin you worked your magic an welahh it running an painted. Thanks for taking us subscribers along for the ride. Love the channel. Keep up the great work.👍✌️😎😁🍀🍀🍀🍀🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🪄🪄🪄🪄
Bravo! A-ONE content and music. Thanks from Oregon.
thats great that you got another model a on the road again. I'm still laughing about Mckay's blow tac and static comment
I hated school but I think it was because I did not go to an Old School Garage! I am pretty sure I would have stayed awake better in class. Again your music selections really complement Merlin’s weekly antics!
Talk about a lost art...How to maintain and care for your Tin Lizzy. You two make it look easy. Thanks
Love the old timey music. Very appropriate for the vintage of vehicle.
Good job Mr Magic.
Cool car the good days.
👍🏽🤙🏾😊😎🙋🏽♂️
I really like your choice of music there in the 12-14 minute time range. Kinda whimsical and appropriate for the cars time.
Good job Merlin, well done.
If there is a problem with the starter ring gear, it is usually in just one spot. The engine has a favorite place to stop when it dies, so the starter is engaging the same place on the ring gear about 90% of the time. It would be a better idea to just use the crank to turn the engine 1/4 turn and then use the starter.
A "new to old cars guy" can get in trouble with a hand crank. If he forgets to retard the spark it can kick back with disastrous results. Also, when hand cranking, wrap your thumb with the other fingers so the crank handle can kick out of your hand if something goes wrong. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, MERLIN from a "mostly Old Chevy guy" but also Model T guy, in Missouri
You’re correct about the ring gear damage in one spot. Over the years, I’ve removed several from the flywheel and rotated them 180 degrees, and there’re as good as new again.❤️🇷🇴
Awesome afternoon brother another awesome adventure with an awesome wizard !!!!
Merlin you are the MAN, nice brother.
Another Great video, Merlin.. and car brought back to life. Brings back Lots of memories from my much younger years in the 1950's & 60's in my parents driveway and garage. Bet ya dinner, that..."Cliff" will forget "At Least" 60 percent of all you told him to do, before he gets half way home.... he was too busy saying "yup, got that, etc, etc" before you ever even finished telling him what & how, things needed to be done. I doubt that he heard even half of what you told him.... perhaps his wife was paying attention.
I hope so. Maybe he could refer to this video for a refresher.
@@georgevindo.... Good point, perhaps he will. Thanks for your reply.
Merlin you are a legend! So full of useful information and extremely nice! thanks for the great content sir...hope our paths cross someday
I liked the remark about the window reg stuck in neutral!
The dude got to hand crank an antique car for the first time. That's so cool.
My dad bought a series 2 land Rover from my uncle and it was a tow truck. Multiple colours and on weekend he had a can of white house paint. Roller and brush he painted it all white that poor truck saw plenty of hard work.
Always amazed at how complicated it is to start and drive the old cars. Wont have to worry about some kid stealing it thats for sure. Even if he happens to know how to drive a manual.
Being a oliver tractor guy never would’ve thought of painting, A model oliver green but I like it ❤
Great Video as usual. Owning a Model A is a lot of work.
